Purchased for adding Atlas to surround sound

Sound is good, though in use as rear speakers my Sound setup on my Onkyo receiver does not detect during setup. I have had to manually configure. Otherwise, the sound quality has been good and I am happy with the purchase.

This style of bounce atmos speaker doesn’t really sound like a proper in ceiling atmos speaker. But if you don’t want to rip your ceiling open these are pretty ok. They mostly raise the height of the sound stage. Not a stellar difference. But for the price and limitations it’s a decent set. Sony core is a hell of a bang for the buck speaker lineup.

Can't ceiling mount, but want ATMOS? Buy these.

The angle of the drivers is perfect to reflect the sound off of the ceiling, and while I'm sure that they sound even better if you can ceiling mount them they are still really good if you can't.

I definitely feel as if I was in a sound bubble.. the affect isn't present in every movie.. it is truly amazing. I just placed the speakers on top of the towers and ran separate wires. Perfect match with the Sony 1080 receiver!

Of course they don’t replace in ceiling speakers but they certainly do add an overhead effect and more full sound stage in my now 5.1.2 setup. I want to get another set for the rears but will need to upgrade my avr for that.

Set up for Atmos sound. No brained if you just need a moderate Atmos set up. I’m using them as my rear heights and the sound is outstanding.

For the price, these really are amazing sounding IF you take the time to position them properly and set the ceiling height in your Atmos enabled surround system.

Sounded fine but didn't blow me away

Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I suppose these are okay for as a basic up-ward firing Atmos speaker - they sound fine when listened to up close - but they didn't add much to my setup. I also found them a bit expensive for what they are, even on sale; I'm not sure the "Atmos Enabled" designation really means much of anything versus a regular small surround speaker. The dimensions of my room and seating configuration seemed like they were a decent match for the angle of the speaker, yet I didn't notice much effect even with Atmos-encoded and -decoded content. There is more atmosphere from older "height" speakers I have high on the wall from a PLIIz setup. So I ended up returning these and sticking with the heights.
