Easy Setup, Great TV, Teenage Son Approved
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my teenage son, who is a PS4 gamer in his spare time. It is a "Smart TV" which requires some knowhow on how to set it up. Luckily, the instructions and prompts were straightforward enough that my son was able to set it up without help from me. Even better, he LOVES the TV. On our 2-year-old TV, for reasons unknown it could not keep up with the graphics on the PS4. This one does, without problems, and the sound and picture are both very high quality. My son is extremely happy with it!

Excellent HDTV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this TV for one week and I am extremely happy with the picture, sound, Smart features and the overall appearance of the TV. The sound from the TV speakers rivals the sound from my Yamaha external speakers. I have looked at a lot of TV's, read a lot of reviews and could not be more satisfied with my Sony selection. A bit more expensive than some of the other brands but well worth it.

Great TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the way the Smart TV works and doesn't make me feel stupid. The picture is clear and it was very easy to set up. The TV is a good price. Sony is great name and I trust them. The TV had a small scratch on the screen when we received it. The customer service was OUTSTANDING!! Thank you Best Buy.

TV With many Features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While I was thinking that a Smart TV would help me not need my Roku Box in the Bedroom, I was unaware at the time of purchase that Samsung had an Exclusivity agreement with HBO. I cannot use HBO GO with this TV at present, but if it could, it truly would be saving me the space of the Roku box. Otherwise the TV has great Picture, the Playstation Now feature is interesting, but feel will be better once they have a subscription model.

Very Good But not Great!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Am a bit dissappointed. Not sure if it's defective or not. The sound when commercials come on has a background bass like noise. I have tried removing the TVs surround feature and tried other sound effects like Cinema, but still get that thump every time some commercials come on. But, the features and Picture are excellent. I hope Sony reads this and responds.

Posted .Hi Cheets, Thank you for taking the time to write a review about this TV. Most TV commercials are created to be loud simply so you can hear the advertisement and get your attention. Here’s a suggestion that can help compensate for these sound differentials between a program and a commercial:
Turn ON ( Normal / Night ) the Advanced Auto Volume feature. Check out the steps below.
1. Press the HOME button, then select [Settings].
2. Select [Sound] → [Sound] → [Advanced Auto Volume].
I hope this helps. Dave

Best TV!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was my best TV purchase thus far! I debated if I should get the 40' or the 48', and ended up with the 40'. The picture clarity is amazing, and the quality overall (including design, sound and options) are top quality. I purchased the product during the holidays sales, however I would pay the current price if I was in the market today, as ( in my opinion) the quality far surpasses other products in the market.

Same as Lostinnh
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the picture. Sound a little weak, but acceptable. However...there is an unacceptable lag between pushing one of the dedicated buttons on the remote and seeing any action on the TV. Moreover, I have had the EXACT same experience as Lostinnh relative to apps that suddenly give me a message indicating lost connectivity with the Internet. To resolve this issue, we typically have to cycle the TV power on and off three or more times. It gets old, quickly--especially when Internet connectivity tests confirm that we have 30 Mbps of active bandwidth available. The only thing that we have not done yet is to swap out our three-week-old TV. Given the overwhelming number of positive reviews that don't mention this type of issue, I suspect a bad batch of processors in a run of TVs. If that's the case, then my suggestion is that Sony track down that run via serial numbers of affected owners, like Lostinnh and myself, and replace our sets with units from a different run altogether, as going back to the same BestBuy for a switcheroo is likely to just result in a swap for another set from the same batch with the defective processors.

All I can say is WOW!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. All I can say is WOW!!! But that’s not how it went down, well let me start from the beginning. Went to BEST Buy to get a 1080 TV, wasn’t sure which one to get, my old 720 Toshiba 37” served me well for 6 years but it was time for an upgrade. Of all the TVs in the store Sony Bravia had the best picture, color and sound, so I got this 40” Bravia! Got home hook up the TV the picture was beautiful awesome is a better word to describe what I was seeing. As I’m watching TV I notice what looks like a piece of plastic inside the screen, said can’t have that, took this back to Best Buy. Customer Service was very good in exchanging this for another Sony Bravia. Got home this one had many issues, picture looked awful, power cord kept popping out and it didn’t like my cable box. So I took this one back to the store but decided to try a different brand thinking maybe it was just a bad batch of Sony Bravia that came into the store. Well I picked out a Samsung 39” got home, the picture was really not good at all. I said to myself I can’t live with this. Went back to Best Buy, I told the person at Customer Service all the problems I’ve been having just trying to get a “good working TV” they were really good about everything. I told them I want to try one more Sony Bravia and they said no problem pick one out! Got home hook up the TV all is working great, this is a five star TV! The folks at Best Buy Customer Service were nothing short of excellent over here in Princeton, NJ, It’s because of them I’ll be back shopping at Best Buy for all my electronic needs.

Great picture/sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had purchased a Samsung 40" from a warehouse store that was a deal, but the sound was tinny and picture quality good but not great. I returned it and bought this Sony from BB. Superior quality and sound, well worth the price difference. Plus staff was helpful with selection.

Top 1080p TV for price. Great Detail and Color.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have returned two different TV's before settling on this one. I first purchased the Samsung J6300 model due to the great reviews. The detail was great on this TV but the black detail level looked gray and had pixel squares when viewed slightly off center. I exchanged this model for a Samsung J6200 and again I had the same problem. The motion handling was smooth due the 120Hz screen but the black detail level suffered. This Sony TV has superb black detail and motion handling. I would recommend this over both of the mentioned Samsung TV's. 4K videos on You Tube look almost like a native 4K TV.

Easy setup, great picture for the right price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a 32" Samsung that only lasted 6 years and developed capacitor problems. I researched this Sony and saw two things - Consumer Reports highly recommended it and the buyer reviews were almost uniformly very positive as well. I purchased it and found the unpacking and setup very easy. The picture was easy to adjust to get the quality I wanted. This TV is also lightweight and easy to maneuver.

The best TV I have ever owned!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture quality is superb on this TV. I don't think I've ever owned a tv that looked as good as this one. The sound is decent, and by no means is it bad, but it sounds a bit awkward compared to the sound of my other sets. $499.99 maybe a little steep compared to other sets, but considering how many features and connections it comes with and the picture quality, it's worth it. Kudos to Sony!

fantastic TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The tv looks great and sounds decent, you wont need a sound bar unless you really want to expand on the great tv. i had three different TV's and decided on this one. it bests the samsung on picture quality, apps, and response time, great gaming TV and overall super satisfied. the first model i got had a dead pixel but the people at best buy were great and swapped it out for me. i thought i should try another brand but the samsung just wasn't up to par and i ended up back with this one. fantastic for the price. two thumbs up. AND 4 hdmi ports!!!! this TV is great!

UNCLUTTERED MY LIVING ROOM
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Between built-in wifi, a GREAT over-the-air receiver (get all the local over-the-air channels), apps for Netflix, Pandora and Amazon Instant Video (among others I havent checked out yet), I was able to separate my XBox from the family TV. No more fan noise while watching movies, either! My last "neat!" discovery was wireless screen mirroring with my phones/tablets. Tonight, I discovered the USB function, which lets me play my digital movies from a USB thumb drive via the USB port on the side of the TV. I LOVE THIS THING! Totally worth upgrading to a Smart TV.

surprised at all the 5 star reviews
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm surprised this TV has so many 5 star reviews. The image and sound are great, but the usability is awful! The TV is sloooooow! Have you ever used a slow computer where you click on things, nothing happens and you end up clicking again? That's this TV. It's frustratingly slow. When you first turn the TV on, you also have to wait an additional ~ 60 seconds before using the apps, otherwise you get a dialog "TV is starting up. Please try again later" message. C'mon! What else? - The remote buttons are annoyingly hard + The stand is quite stable + TV is very light + modern look with an average-sized bezel around the display + great image and sound (for a flatscreen). I'm probably going to return this as the most basic functions are annoyingly slow.
