    Remote quit the second day

The remote started working sporadically the second day I had the TV. Sometimes it wouldn't even turn the TV on. I followed the directions to recover the TV operation, but it did no good most of the time. I returned the set to Best Buy and bought a LG set, which was easier to set up and worked immediately. I have owned LG sets for several years and have found them very dependable. My Sony was overpriced junk.

    Great Picture......

And that's where it ends. TV takes forever to do anything after you press a button on the remote. You can actually sit there a press a button over and over again and nothing starts. Biggest problem is the Wifi adapter. I already exchanged this set for a brand new one and they both do the same thing. I will be watching Netflix or VUDU, and the TV loses the connection to the internet. It will be still logged into my network, but not reach the internet. Sometimes it drops it all. I've used manual and auto setup for it. When it stops working, I go into the manual setup, just click through what I previously set and just re-save and it all of sudden works again. Error 1106 or just says it stopped connection not working most of the time. Two brand new TVs that lose their access to the internet. I did all the troubleshooting the forum said and none of my other devices (desktops, laptops and smart phones) lose the internet. Just poor coding on the network cards in these things. Its really a shame since I loved the picture and the feature of playing PS3 games or PS4 streaming from servers or my own PS4. I will be returning this set and probably just stick with LG or Samsung

    Remote not programable

I find it crazy that a 450.00 dollar tv does not have the ability to program the remote to use a cable box. Even the most basic tv has this. Packed up in box and going back to store.

Great for the first 2 years

I purchased this tv just over 3 years ago. After about 18 months the sound quality started to lack and I had to turn it up almost 3/4 of the way just to hear it properly. Now, the tv just shut off and the light in the front blinks red and it won’t turn on. I unplugged it and plugged it back in. It turned on for a second and then the light flashes red and it shuts off again. I paid a lot of money for this tv because of the name and the reviews only to have it die just after the warranty expires... go figure. Never again will I spend this kind of money just because of the brand name. It saddens me to have to write this, but it’s true. The tv has never been moved from the table I put it on 3 years ago when I bought it.

    Broke way too soon

I purchased the Sony Bravia KDL40BX450 in June 2012. nove TV until last night when the color went yellow/green. Quite disappointing that a TV would break in 3 years.

    Not the smartest TV

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Not the worst tv picture yet it is plagued by internal errors and glitches. It is pointless to use the smart tv features because it will fail to load apps, crash, or need constant resetting. I would not buy this tv. I do not feel confident in purchasing bravia or Sony again after this experience. Oh and the remote is awful. Its quality is so cheap that after the 10-15 times hitting a button and nothing happening, you will be compelled to hit it against any surface to try and improve the situation. Terrible remote.

    Bad Customer Support

I own a Sony KDL-40vl160 TV, One month ago The TV got the " Sony Vertical Lines of death " . In trying to correct the problem I went online and saw this was a major problem for Sony TV's. I tried the two reset options to correct the problem and both failed. In researching this problem I discovered when you Google the " Sony vertical Black lines of death " that this was a major problem with Sony TV's and that in some cases Sony replaced the TV's at no cost to the customer even with the TV's being out of warranty. Sony has numerous complaints about this issue. I contacted Sony Support both with emails and telephone calls with no satisfaction. I explained to them that this was faulty components in the TV and that they had replaced TV's with this same problem that were out of warranty. Their only offer to me for this faulty television was repair at my cost, 15% off a new television or buy a refurbished Sony for $329.00. I asked to speak to a supervisor but was told I was at the last stop, which was Sony Technical Support. I followed up with letters to the Head of Sony USA.. An executive from Sony USA told me that was all they could do and were sorry to lose me as a customer. I strongly recommend that you do not purchase a Sony TV.

    Many Problems

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I wish I had never purchased this TV. I know this is a first-world problem(s) but #1: the remote takes almost a full minute to be responsive (change channel and access apps). Perhaps the biggest problem is the interface with Netflix. When the app does fully buffer 100% (many times it doesn't), I get kicked off to regular TV. After trying all kinds of fixes (factory reset, unplug TV/router/modem) nothing works. I'm stuck with this piece of cr*p. And know it's not the Internet. Netflix works on all my other devices. It's definitely the TV. I will never buy another Sony product.

    Low quality all around

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Very disappointed in this TV. I was informed that this 720 TV had a new type of "booster' in that would give 1080p like picture quality. It does not have anywhere near a 1080 picture quality. The picture is often blurry and affected by even the slowest of speed scenes in tv shows and movies. The sound is very poor too, it has to be set at 100% to be heard over a room of talking people, very poor speakers. Spent far too much for this lack of quality.
