    Didn't Do What Was Expected

    I wanted to avoid the expense of getting another DVR and was told I could add apps (such as the one for my cable provider) to this TV...this was not true. The manuals were not helpful and neither was Sony's website. I spent a large amount time trying to figure out how to add the apps only to find out from research on-line (in some blog) that I would have had to purchase a newer model to add the apps. I returned the TV immediately.

      You may try going to the Picture settings of your TV and Reset it or try resetting the TV to the factory default settings by following the steps here.

    I was sold this tv as a 120hz 240 motion flow with a built-in ps3. And this tv did not deliver. It is a 60hz tv that shows very hazy on my direct tv, and when watching blue ray movies. Returned.

      Hi KELoPV, thanks for your feedback. Please try to set the current time manually. Here are the steps:
      Press the HOME button, then select [Settings].
      2. Select [Preferences] → [Clock/Timers] → [Current Time].
      3. Press the button in [Date (Month/Day/Year)], then set the date →select [Time] → set the time.
      (When using the Touchpad Remote Control, press the touchpad in [Date (Month/Day/Year)].)
      Once you've done the above steps, please press the GUIDE button on the remote.

      If nothing happened, reset your TV to factory settings, check out the link below.

    I have been a Sony Guru for over 35 years

    I have purchase thousands of dollars of Sony products over the last 35+ years, infact this is the only brand I have felt was worth the extra price they deserve. The last several products I have bought are very disappointing, ie my laptop last year, bluetooth headphones, and now this TV. I sure hope someone from Sony pays attention to the reviews before all of their life time customers purchase elsewhere.

    Very disappointed with the quality of this television especially for it being a Bravia 1080p smart tv. When I ran apps through the Bravia the best quality I would get is 720p but my Apple TV would produce at 1080p when connected.

    This is a replacement for the original which arrived damaged. They didn't have the same model so this is a later, cheaper version. I haven't got the tape input working yet so I can't comment on that.

    Very difficult to wall mount

    For some crazy reason Sony put the cable connections smack in the center of the wall mount holes on the back of the tv -- making it super challenging to wall mount if you are connecting anything other than HDMI, such as an antenna connection or a bluray player or home theater that has component cables or if you want to connect an optical audio cable. This TV has a 300x200 VESA pattern for wall mounts (which for some reason Sony doesn't disclose so you have to measure it for yourself), which completely covers the connections on the back. The only way to way mount it is with substantial spacers and right angle adapters for the component connections and for the digital optical audio, if using those. Plus, even though I bought just a 40" tv, I have to buy a big wall mount in order to accommodate the 300x200 pattern, meaning that I spent more money & time on ordering the wall mount, cable adapters, getting more spacers from the hardware store, and having to mount a board on the wall to allow the wall mount to be centered, since the 300x200 type mounts need to be installed into 2 studs and therefore, it can't necessarily be centered without mounting a backer board to the wall first -- a lot of work that could be avoided by buying almost any brand other than Sony. Plus, with a refresh rate of only 60, this model's technology is a bit older -- don't think Sony is even making this model anymore. Would not recommend -- there are plenty of other tvs on the market with just as good picture quality without all the headache. Unless you can find it for under $280 and don't intend to wall mount it, I would pick something else.

    Great for the first 2 years

    I purchased this tv just over 3 years ago. After about 18 months the sound quality started to lack and I had to turn it up almost 3/4 of the way just to hear it properly. Now, the tv just shut off and the light in the front blinks red and it won’t turn on. I unplugged it and plugged it back in. It turned on for a second and then the light flashes red and it shuts off again. I paid a lot of money for this tv because of the name and the reviews only to have it die just after the warranty expires... go figure. Never again will I spend this kind of money just because of the brand name. It saddens me to have to write this, but it’s true. The tv has never been moved from the table I put it on 3 years ago when I bought it.

    Not the smartest TV

    Not the worst tv picture yet it is plagued by internal errors and glitches. It is pointless to use the smart tv features because it will fail to load apps, crash, or need constant resetting. I would not buy this tv. I do not feel confident in purchasing bravia or Sony again after this experience. Oh and the remote is awful. Its quality is so cheap that after the 10-15 times hitting a button and nothing happening, you will be compelled to hit it against any surface to try and improve the situation. Terrible remote.
