Very nice picture Sony`s are great TV`s
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am very satisfied and happy with my new Sony Bravia TV.The picture is very sharp and clear. The frame surrounding the screen is very small, almost do not see it. The small base stand works out perfect with my STB @ DVD/VCR boxes.I am very glad I purchased the 40" Sony Bravia TV. Also got a good deal from my Willow Grove Best Buy store. The staff their are very knowledgeable about the products they sell in this store.

Excellent First Time HDTV for ANYone!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We've been with a CRT TV for the last 20 years. This Sony KDL-40WB600 is our first HDTV ever and it is amazing! Picture is clear, color accurate and yes, if you stand to the side a bit there is SOME color desaturation, but not bad at all. The one selling point was that it had PS3 built in and is PS4 ready. Also, the great amount of internet apps are great, but not as much as what Roku has, but that can be connected as well. I got this mainly also for the Hulu, Amazon Prime, and Netflix apps. With all the above and more, this Sony model quality is perfection. One gripe is that Sony has the component/composite ports right in the back's middle so attaching a plate for a mount is going to be a no-go unless you use steel extenders for the screws going into the plate. We have ours on an 26" extendable swivel arm from inside an armoire. Included in the pics is the VESA measurement of the back…

Solid Product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's hard to find anything wrong with this TV. Picture quality is great, menu's are great, smart features are great. I would say, the only things I didn't like were not really a big deal at all. One would be, the stand is horribly flimsy, but I think now days most people mount their TV's, and for safety reasons (children) I think most people should anyway. The other thing that might annoy some people is the start up. It turns on pretty much right away, but nothing is accessible for a little bit. You can't just turn it on and change inputs, you need to wait a little while. Really not a big deal but I could see someone questioning why it would need to be "turning on" after you've already turned it on. Neither of those justify removing a star so I'm giving it 5 anyway. I had bought a cheaper Sony from another retailer and this one is far superior. I know the price may seem a little high but after trying out the cheaper one I was more than happy to return it and get this one instead. I also understand this is not a 4k, does not have 3D and has a very low refresh rate, but I haven't noticed anything lacking in movies or games I play on it. I am very happy with this purchase.

New TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just purchased this new Sony flat screen to replace my old Samsung. TV has an awesome picture. I originally bought the Samsung, however I had endless problems trying to get it setup. It would not update to latest version of software, nor connect with my wifi. The Sony was effortless, hurts to say, as I have always been a Samsung person. The only complaint I have is the mounting stand is awkward for placement. I need to build an additional shelf in my armware for the TV to stay upward, as apposed to the Samsung.

Very Impressed!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We had a Samsung 40" TFT-LCD for about 8 years and the video board started to go bad with cascading white pixels in the center of the screen. So, I started looking for a replacement and found that it was worse than buying a car! I had specific needs which included a built-in home theater media cabinet that was bought before widescreen TVs were out, so I was limited to 39.5" width to fit in the television cabinet. I also needed at least 4 HDMI inputs for Blu-ray player, U-Verse receiver, Xbox, and Roku Video Streamer #only one that has British programming#. In addition, I needed to have an optical audio out for the home theater system, and a headphone jack for the smaller audio system for everyday television watching. Finally, I needed a composite in for the Wii gaming console. Though it wasn't a mandatory need, it was a plus that this TV also came with Ethernet built-in. For years, I avoided Sony products because I felt that they were overpriced and could find much better quality for less money. This Sony Bravia proved me wrong. I had the most difficult time finding a TV in a reasonable price range that had all of the requirements that I had for a replacement. I picked up the TV this morning. After disassembling all of the other components and re-tying all of the cables and wires, the actual connection and setup of the TV took less than 45 minutes from start to finish. As soon as I plugged it in and turned it on, it downloaded and installed a software update. I do have to admit, though, that the remote control is not very intuitive. It took me a couple of tries to find the options for setting up sound, picture, etc. I expected a "menu" key on the remote, but instead found that it's all on the "home" page along with other options. I also discovered that this TV is one of the few Sony products that is compatible with PlayStation Now which is a streaming version of PlayStation. Though not included in the box, all that is needed is a dual-shock wireless controller plugged into a USB port. Though I have an extensive Xbox collection, I will price out what the streaming costs are vs. having a console with actual DVDs. Nevertheless, I read an article that said Sony did it right by having multiple servers for this option that take on all of the processing and video rendering rather than a single server setup. Evidently, the beta tests were very well received and games worked smoothly, provided you have a high speed broadband connection #I have a 24Mbps line and use a home-plug Ethernet adapter instead of wireless which gives my TV and game consoles 18Mbps connections#. All in all, I highly recommend this TV. The clarity of the picture is phenomenal! Everything in HD is crisp and even in fast-moving scenes, I could not detect any pixelating or ghosting of images. Looking at other TVs in the store #side-by-side with Vizio, Samsung, and other brands#, the Sony had the most realistic colors including perfectly matched flesh tones. I can't comment on the audio of the TV as I run it through a small-scale system with subwoofer for everyday use and a monster Home Theater system for movies and games. However, I have yet to find a thin LCD TV that had decent sound. I wouldn't expect it though, because it's hard to make any quality sound #especially bass end# because of space restrictions. Also, there are quite a few sound bar options available which can give you great sound for a small price. The remote IS a little difficult to figure out, but on the plus side, if you have a Sony Blu-ray player, it automatically finds and pairs it so you don't have to have a bucket-full of remotes for every device. Though Vizio and Samsung have less expensive models in this size class, but Sony has packed a lot of features and quality that you would find in a higher-end TV.

Excellent TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony are back !!! ... When I looked into buying this TV I looked at every competitor that had a TV of a similar size, specification, and price ... Nothing came close ... Not even Samsung ... The picture is amazing but the sound is just ok ... If like me, you have a surround sound system that will be no concern to you ... The smart tv part is easy to navigate and pulls from the menus very quickly ... It's light and very thin ... It comes with its own wall mount in the box and if you can use a tape measure and a level it's very easy to fix to the wall ... In all, it's awesome, and like I said "SONY ARE BACK !"

Upgrade for an older TV-Love it!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had an old Sony that I was happy with, but it was wearing out. I purchased this TV and have had it for about a month. It was easy to set up, and the picture is clear, color is good. I am happy to have the SMART TV features so that I can watch Hulu, listen to Pandora, etc. without switching to my Blueray. Very satisfied.

Best TV so far Sony KDL40W
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.PROS: Exceptional picture quality, loves to see 4K videos really crystal clear in LED TV cost. CONS: little bit weird remote control not designed aesthetically, specially when you use for APPs return button and up/down/right/left buttons are very close. But all are forgiven for best in class picture engine and screen colors

Great first 1080p TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is awesome. Guy at the store told me it was a brand new line of Bravia that Sony was putting out. He pretty much talked me into it, as I was leaning towards Samsung at the time. I was upgrading from a 720p TV with no extra features, so this feels light years ahead of what I was seeing before. A new feature to me was the ability to control my new Blu-Ray player with my TV remote via HDMI. My only complaint on this TV is the placement of the IR receiver. It's right in the middle of the TV at the bottom. It means I can't place a sound bar (or center speaker) in front of the TV, as I have it placed on an entertainment center. Perhaps in the future I will mount it on the wall, when we move into a house. Just that tiny little flaw in the design. Love it compared to my Dynex. The smart features are great, but everything has them now, the Blu-Ray player, XBox, Roku... So I pretty much stick to the XBox 360, as that was what I was using before.

great picture and the price was right
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This HDTV was on sale and recommended by the sales reps. It was easy to set up. Love the apps. Great picture. We purchased this with a Sony sound bar and we're pleased with the combo. Love that we can use it wirelessly and so can move the unit anywhere in the room. This is far superior than the 70 inch Sharp Aqous and Harmon Karmon sound bar we bought.

Decided Against 4k
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We were looking to replace our old 32" Sony which I was donating to my daughter in college. I was tempted by Sony's 40" 4k, but it was over $300 more than this and 4k source material is still scarce. Went with the basic Bravia 40" 1080p. It's been great. The image is bright and detailed, and the display is an edge to edge picture with little visible cabinet around the display area. The motion rate is high enough that there are no artifacts when watching sports or movies. I was able to get it dialed in to our home wifi in about ten minutes and we now enjoy ready access to online programming on Amazon and Netflix (watch Narcos!) with no lag. My one small complaint is that the stand is a brushed aluminum tube contraption (like a large paper clip) which does not compliment the tv or my other black audio gear/cable box. Not sure why Sony scrapped the basic black pedestal stand. That aside, very pleased. As an addendum to this review, which was originally posted 9/30/15 - We watched an entire season of Netflix' Narcos on our new Sony streaming across our home wifi. The images were bright, beautiful and very cinematic. We then wanted to get caught up House of Cards, also on Netflix. Unfortunately, that series has been extremely buggy, with the picture constantly stopping and buffering then restarting for just 90- seconds or so. I can't say I blame this on the tv, as it is more likely an issue with Verizon Fios or Netflix. But we have done all the basic things like reboot the modem, check connections, turn off other devices that are using wifi, etc. Maybe the folks at Sony can recommend some additional steps.

Best in Class... Hands down
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have always owned Samsung Tv's, and recently when it was time to buy one , I went and looked for a 40 inch Samsung LED. Granted, it wasnt their top of the line model or anything, but I was disappointed when I came home with it. The colors didnt seem that great, and the sound was awful, but the worst was the Smart TV menu. It took for ages to open and even move around. I took it back two days later and started looking once again, and this Sony caught my eye, because the colors just seemed so sharp compared to all the other screens on the wall. Yes, you do pay maybe a hundred dollars more than the Samsung, but the model that Samsung uses to compete with this model costs more than the Sony and even that had no chance next to this. Let me tell you, I have never seen a TV with deeper blacks, If there are blacks in the picture, you cant even differentiate between the blacks and if the TV was off. The sound quality on this is amazing too, it has proper bass, and a lot of options to do what you like with it, whether its picture quality or sound quality. Best of all, the smart menu in this works pretty quickly and I love the option of being able to tell the TV when you usually watch TV in the evenings or whenever, and so it turns on quicker and is already connected and ready to go. This TV has been the best I have owned and to be honest the best that I have seen in other peoples homes as well. I highly recommend this if you are looking for a TV within this budget, trust me, I did a lot of research and there is nothing that compares to this within this range.

Love My New TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Perfect size for a bedroom. Apps work pretty good. I only use netflix and youtube, they work fine. The best part is the picture quality, compared to my 65in Sharp, Sony is better. They are cheaper TV's out there, but if you like quality and don't mind spending extra cash go for this TV. The only con is it takes a couple of seconds to power on, annoying when you want to switch inputs.

first flat screen TV!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV went into a small room, so we didn't want a huge TV. The quality is what you would expect from Sony, great picture and sound, easy to operate. It was advertised as a smart TV and it was super simple to set up to stream using our Amazon Prime account. Excellent TV, perfect for a smaller room, like a bedroom, and super simple to set up and use. Highly recommended.
