x800d intial experience
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My uses: Bedroom TV, 4k 4:4:4 chroma @ 60hz productivity monitor. Productivity: Text is clear, no ghosting or weird rainbow effects when scrolling/surfing. I can comfortably read to the very corners of the screen. running at 8bit color at this resolution/hz. Accepts up to 12 bit signal (probably some software color reproduction) at lower resolutions/hz. Input lag and screen draw speed both seem very responsive for a productivity Tv. Before I tried out a KU7000 for similar use, and the experience was pretty bad. TV: Most notably to me at this $/inch level, the software effects actually seem to work well. You can apply different levels of motion/judder reduction that don't overly dim the screen or create a ridiculous amounts soap opera effect. The the depth and uniformity of blacks seem good, not amazing, based on using the test image. Likewise the grey uniformity seems fine as well. Neither notably detract from user experience. Again these are first impressions, based on my eyes. But this screen seems a good value, and so far for my uses fills the need perfectly. Some of this was I think I won the screen lottery this time around, no idea what the range of quality actually is. Btw. I am told (and seems to respond like) a VA panel. For now five stars based and initial experience and price point for my uses . I plan to run some actual technical tests later.

Hopefully a great Tv??
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Only have (one) issue with the tv,when changing between tv channels I'm getting a squealing noise, have changed to a different hdmi cable and a different Direct TV box but still getting the same noise. The noise kinda sounds like when when the power is on and you connect/disconnect a input cable. Will need to to reach out to the geek squad guys at bestbuy and ( hopefully ) it's a simple fix via something in the audio/sound menu because I really don't want to return it.Picture quality and looks of tv is great.

Great Value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We did a lot of research on Consumer Reports and checked out recommended models in person. This model was not mentioned on Consumer Reports, but the picture quality is wonderful. You will need a HD box to really get the most bank for your buck, but it's worth it!

Headphones for the Sony TV?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A week ago I took my 85 year old Mother-in-Law to Best Buy to purchase a new TV. The reason for Best Buy was get professional information from a salesperson and a demo of the product. I explained that we need a TV with a bright picture and the ability to add a headphone without the front speakers going mute when the headphones were plugged it. I explained the deal breaker was the muting of the speakers. The salesperson recommended the Sony, but was unable to demo it. Setting up the TV at home we plugged in the headphones and the front speaker muted. Why Sony, the leading manufacture of wireless TV headphones, would choose to do this I have no idea. If you are charging the headphones and desire to listen to the TV you have to physically disconnect the headphone a difficult thing for an 85 year old. The TV also dims in the evening, but we were able to disconnect that feature through the setup menu. Yes I know we could use a fiber converter for the headphones and that is what we did for an added expense. My other TVs allow an audio connection without muting the TVs speakers.

Posted .Hi FrankT, we apologiez for the inconvenience that this may have caused you. When we connect a headphone to the TV, the sound will be outputted directly to the headphone that causes the TV speaker to mute. However, we can change the TV settings and let the audio outputted from both TV speakers and headphone at the same time, we call it headphone speaker link. Here's the step on how to enable the headphone speaker link settings of the TV.
1. Using the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
2. Select Settings.
3. Under the TV category, select Sound.
4. Under the Sound settings screen, select Headphone speaker link.
5. Under the Headphone speaker link screen, select Speakers on.

Best 4k TV on the market!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After comparing several 43inch 4k TVs there is no comparison when it comes to this Sony . It blows away the competition. I currently own the 55inch model and the 43inch model and picture quality on both is unbelievable. Shopping for a new 4k TV? Look no further.

great for xbox one s
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have had it a day now and everything worked pretty well. Ps4 works fine. Automatically updated xbox one s. Had to manually update TV but it tells you how. Love the remote. Refresh rate seems good. I like the slim design. This is my first smart tv. The integration of apps on these things is pretty convenient.

Excellent Picture
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I Love Sony i have the XBR850C 55" (2015) and the KDLEX720 32" (2011 model) but i recently purchased the Samsung 6300 model 4k for nearly half the cost but it performs well and 4k is amazing on it i think Samsung does a better Job with 4k performance along with its realism effects compared to this Sony Model but overall Sony Delivers excellent colors and picture

Wow!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture on this TV is incredibly sharp right out of the box, and it's also thin, relatively light, and fairly easy to assemble/setup. Couldn't ask for anything more for the price!

Impressive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Needed something in 43" size and considered LG and Samsung. Based on ratings and reviews through rtings.com, CNET, etc. I chose the Sony and I'm very pleased after one day. Made sure to upgrade HDMI cables and router before purchase to ensure quality feed. Love the voice remote, available apps, impressive sound, casting feature and I'm sure I'll discover more as I spend more time with the product. It's a little more pricey than similar sized models but I plan on having it for a long time. Operating system is Android so if you are familiar with that OS, it's simple to navigate. Like others have said the manual is useless and you are better off troubleshooting or going through FAQ on internet to find helpful info.

The worst!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this TV for the supposed superior picture quality and Smart features. The remote is the most user UN-friendly ever (e.g. it takes 6 steps just to set up the sleep timer! ...and I had to go online to figure it out). I read many reviews about how difficult the Sony remote is to use so I exchanged it for a Hisense 43" 4k. It is fantastic. Great picture, user friendly, 4 YEAR WARRANTY, at half the price of the Sony!

Awesome tv for consoles!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was blown away just from how amazing the quality of the resolution on the tv came out compared to my old one. The size is perfect for playing video games as well. I had a 19 inch before and had to basically squint or be up close to the tv to read anything in the game.I dont have the xbox one s yet (currently have a 360) but I cant wait to see how it works out with this tv!!! Definitely worth the price!

Great first 4K experience
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After getting a PlayStation 4 Pro, I decided to invest in upgrading from my 720 television to a 4K. One of my biggest concerns, not being able to play older systems, was alleviated when I saw that this model comes with component ports as well as hdmi.

Crashes Every Two Weeks
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm sorry I don't agree with the other reviewers. This TV crashes almost every two weeks. It does not respond to power on about twice a month. And the worst thing is that the only way to reset it is to unplug the TV and plug it back in. Because the power cord is permanently fixed to the back, the only way to do this is to unplug it at the outlet. If you buy this thing, be sure to plug it in a place where the outlet is easily accessible because there is no other way to reboot the TV when it crashes. Yes, there is NO reboot button on this TV, the manual says you must unplug it. I find this unbelievable for a TV that crashes so much. Also, the viewing angles are really not that great.

The IPS Panel killed it for me.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really researched before buying this TV. I knew about the difference in the panels between this 43 inch and the 49 inch models. I figured it wouldn't be that big of a deal since I use this in my bedroom, but I was wrong. The picture fades too drastically when viewing even a tiny step off center of the screen. I guess I really need a TV with a VA panel. Other than that the TV is good....I don't really care for the menu layout or the feel of the remote, though. It had all the features I was looking for but the loss of image quality when viewing from the sides is just too drastic for me. I'll be returning this one to the store.

Audio output PCM only with speakers on!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a big problem if you channel surf with TV speakers and add A/V surround for selected programs. Either you have to use the TV menu to turn off speakers to get multi-channel out OR (in my case running audio direct from U-verse STB) I have to turn TV sound down anyway to avoid echo from a slight delay. I used to listen to both together using a Samsung plasma and a Toshiba RPTV before that. Now I have to check an older Sony 1080 set I just unboxed (that had a 49" screen bowed in at the top). At least this unit is much heavier so I hope it will be reliable.

Do research first
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Now this isn't the first time this has happened to me. But I learned my lesson. The salesperson told me this tv was better than 120hz cuz of it 240 motion effect but I should've did more backup check. It is only 60hz (native) and now I want to return it. But that is such so much work cuz the tv is very heavy. I have no clue what I'm going to do. This is after already returning a tv that they claimed was the correct product but was an online description error. Tv looks ok but I paid a lot for it and don't think it is worth the cost.
