Over all I was happy with the tv but it always had a problem with the screen studdering from time to time but and simple power cycle would fix the issue. Not anymore and there is now burn in lines.

I have had problems with this tv shutting off randomly and messing up during playback. Periodically sound will go out during a show. Don’t have any of these issues when watching the same program on another TV in the same house.

The overall picture quality on this unit was disappointing when compared to offerings by Samsung and LG. If you are on a tight budget, this TV might be good for you. Otherwise, an extra $100-$200 buys you far greater resolution and color representation.

I had done a lot of research in replacing my older TV (developing vertical lines) reading all recommendations on the internet, talking to several so called store experts and so forth and went with the experts top rated TV which was the top Samsung available for the size restriction I have for this room (43"). I've had good results with larger TVs from Samsung for my other rooms but this one is in my kitchen/hearth room which has built in wall units built probably for the older 36" tube TVs I guess and only fits a 43"TV. The Samsung TV disappointed in many ways right out of the box and I realized that the expert ratings are not real life but based on meters, scopes and other instruments trying to replicate some numbers only relevant to NASA or scientists and viewed or measured head on. The picture was too dark and washed out quickly at slight angles. Peoples hair looked so unnatural and the picture and color faded horribly at slight angles. During daytime viewing the screen looked way too dark which made it looked dim. This TV is only good for dark rooms and viewed head on only. I was so disappointed I quickly returned it after giving it a fair shot for 2 weeks but before the return window closed. I them bought the Sony which cost about $200 more on what I saw at the store with my own eyes as the best picture. The Sony so far has been exceptional at home in night time viewing and is much brighter and much better than the Samsung in daytime viewing. Best of all the screen does not wash out at reasonable angles (10 to 20 degrees or so). I played with the settings somewhat but the picture out of the box works well and I only made minor adjustments to my liking. The sound on my old set was poor at best and I always thought all of these type of TVs couldn't produce reasonable sound with tiny speakers... but this TV has good sound for regular TV watching and I only use the sound bar I had when I want to play it louder for special movies or concerts. As for Apps I have only use Netflix and that works well, can't comment on other Apps at this time. Pros: Best picture even at angles day and night, good sound, full remote (with voice commands) Cons: High price double the average price of similar TVs (paid close to $600), some low resolution programs do not display full screen, remote is a little tricky to figure out initially for some settings but once you figure it out it works well. Conclusion: I am normally not a huge Sony fan since I've had reliability issues with Sony before but so far so good and as for the high price well we spend much more on silly things like custom wheels or moon roofs that we barely use yet we spend many hours every day watching TV and the few extra hundred bucks were well worth it to bring me back to a state of amazement of the nice picture a 4k TV can produce when I watch it every day.

Bought this TV in Jan, went out of town Feb and did not turn home until last week. Turned TV on and it was in a loop. Called Geek squad, came out a few days later, said it was a bad board and had to order one. Once week later, board was installed but now there is snow and wavy picture on the screen. Was told to call Geek Squad again. Poor quality if a TV only lasts a month before crapping out.

I bought this open box, knowing it was thoroughly checked by Best Buy. The picture was very dark - when I went to setting to adjust the picture, I saw the previous owner put all the controls to lighten the picture, but it still remained dark. I don't know if it was just this TV, or all Sony's of this model. I had to return it. Surprised, because Sony is generally a good brand, and this TV has a very good rating from Consumer Reports.

This television just turned two years old a couple days ago and now appears defective. There are two various colored horizonal bands at the bottom of the picture that do not go away. I would never, ever buy a Sony television again. Sony is not what it use to be. My last Sony television lasted 13 years, this one junk.

We purchased this 2 of these TVs for conference rooms. The features to share WIndows10 PC screens wirelessly does not work. When it does work the lag is unusable after about 2 minutes. We spent at least 5 hours on the phone with Sony and Best Buy to address the problem. Geek Squad is coming out next week with replacement Samsung TVs that work.

Very happy with this TV, even exceeded the high expectations I had for it. Picture is outstanding which isn't surprising for Sony. I've been making adjustments to black levels and contrast to dial things in even better, appreciate the picture options provided. Motion is extremely smooth, on par with other brands claiming 120 or 240 Hz. Sound is also great in my opinion, I intended to purchase a sound bar but don't feel the need after using the TV speakers for awhile. I installed the recommended software update immediately upon setup, so far the menus have been smooth and quick. Apps seem to open quickly as well. I'm really impressed with the available apps in the Google Play Store supported by this TV, I kept my Roku connected just in case I couldn't find some of the apps I use, but the TV can run them all. HDMI inputs are located on the back and on the side which makes keeping the cables out of sight easier, the included stand has cable management runs built in for a really clean look. I compared this to Samsung and LG models in the same price range and definitely feel like the picture quality and availability of apps is superior on the Sony, very pleased with this TV!

When it came to buying a 4k TV with HDR i's hard to pick when reviews online where no help it was to the point I had to pick between 2 brands knowing there was a bit of a price difference however the display units made it clear the Sony brand was the clear winner with the bright and super colorful image quality watching 4k movies with HDR + gaming has never looked better plus if your interested in the smart futures there is plenty it offers interface was quick and responsive it was the update process that took awhile but that is my only complaint

Better TV than The newer version.

The Sony 43" LED X800E is simply a better TV than the newer version the Sony - 43" X85K 4K HDR LED Google TV. I am having a very hard time enjoying some local channels on newer model X85K Google TV vs on the X800E. Sony tells me its a Google issue and that I have to wait for new updates from Google. Simply put if I could find X800E I would return the new version for the X800E as it is supperrier TV in picture, sound. The processor is bit slower than X85K.
