Happy with it

It does want you to use Google TV but doesn't require it. I only run the TV in HD mode, but it will operate in 4k and 8k modes. it's fast - lights right up. I'm happy with it after a couple of months.

I decided I wanted to get a mid size and I took my time making a decision on my choice. Sony puts more love into their Master Class TV's so when the 48 inch XR90K went on sale for the black Friday/Cyber Monday sales I decided I would grab one. I'm not a gamer but I do enjoy a lot of sports and various shows. The picture and sound quality are out of this world fantastic. I cannot imagine a better tv. Sony really did their homework on this one. My experience at Best Buy was great. Sale went flawlessly.

Perfect Size for Condo and Sonos System Enhances

I love Sony products. This unit replaced a 1080 Bravia. Works well with Sonos. However, I wish I would have investigated Bose. I believe Bose has better sound quality.

Great Smart TV

Very delighted with this TV; the Smart features are really good. My wife and I can cycle between TV, NetFlix, Prime Video, etc. Took a few days to get used to all the added features, but it really works well!

Is it Heavy? Then it's expensive, put it down.

I'd also rather NOT have all the built in google stuff. Very Heavy if you have any muscle issues or joint issues moving this thing will be a pain. Asks for way too much first time set up info as well be prepared to sit for a while. Assembling the stand was also annoying as the connection point to the tv has small areas on both sides where your hand might not fit, so screwing in the screws is difficult without a magnetic screwdriver to hold the screws. Doesn't play well with high end computers frequent screen tearing (using the hi-endy hdmi 3 port)

Pictured instructions inaccurate

It took another day to figure out what the problem was. Placement of back base to wall mount is opposite of what is pictured to properly install into bracket. Took two persons many, many tries to figure correct placement and installation.

Big Mistake for TV Viewing Without a Soundbar

It is wall mounted in bedroom, cable box, no soundbar. Picture IS very good. But this is the first Sony TV in over 50 yrs that I did love from its first moment. I HATE it. It grates on me while lying in bed and it stays on all night. The broadcast stations sound worse than the cable stations. Installed by Geek Squad, went through complete install per Sony instruction. In spite, the sound is cheap, tinny, hollow and sounds like it is broadcasting inside a metal shipping container. Got even worse after many hours on phone with 3 different Sony tech reps at elevated level. They also could not get the Google Assistant to set up a sleep timer. Message is: "Sorry, I can't manage timers on this device." Per Assistant suggestion I downloaded Google Home app and added device to a 'home' - had no effect except that now Google is tagging even more of my private info. Other Google commands worked. My 5 mo old XR-77A80J does this perfectly without any special set up. Also, on startup screen, the bottom third of screen is covered by a function menu bar that I have to menu dive to find a way to get rid of, even though it is set to 'last used' screen for opening and no banners. The downsized remote had also has me menu diving for functions I have always taken for granted on a remote. Sony and Best Buy tech support knew my requirements/needs (sound/non-manual sleep timer/bedroom use) prior to purchase and assured me that the poor sound quality complaints were unfounded. The sound was supposed to be excellent after software updates included in install. Sony support never checked their own bulletins to fix the problems. I was surprised at all their lack of knowledge and inability to troubleshoot. This was elevated twice and the next level support was supposed to contact me to fix, but never did. The last tech told me the Assistant was not a Sony product and that I should call Google to fix it. If Sony can't support these 3rd party functions, then don't include them. Finally, he told me the A90K is designed to sit on a desk not more 3-4 feet from operator, not 6 feet away in a bedroom. I will be contacting Best Buy to make this right. It is shocking how Sony quality control and customer service has declined. I never considered Sony price because their tv's were always the gold standard. Sony: PLEASE PUT THE SLEEP TIMER BUTTON BACK ON REMOTES! Stupid to expect us to get out of bed, put on lights, find eyeglasses, search menus, now wide awake, for something that you used to press a button 2 or 3 times in the dark, roll over and it never let you down. All tv's had them. It's the GREEN thing to do to save energy!

TV freezes

Not sure if I received a faulty model but the TV would completely freeze while watching and I would have to unplug it to be able to use the TV again. Had to return and was nervous same issue would occur with a bew one. Hope Sony solves that problem
