    Garbage TV

DO NOT BUY THIS TV!!! At first this tv worked great, but then it had trouble streaming through the pre downloaded apps (Netflix and Hulu). Once the playback fails, the TV freezes and becomes unresponsive to any button pushed on the remote or tv itself. This happens after about an hour of watching or sometimes less. The only way to get it to respond is to unplug it. I made the mistake of waiting too long to exchange it so I had to buy a roku to use my streaming services which is almost better because the TV comes with hardly any apps and I do not think you can download any additional ones. Long story short, save yourself a headache and buy a Samsung.

    Good picture, but

The picture is great. I hooked up a soundbar and found I had to totally mute the TV due to the echo effect with the delay between the TV and sounbar output. Hooked up a USB drive to view some recorded movies, but that doesn't work at all. The TV is billed as a smart TV but only has one built in app, Netflix, and no way I can find to add more. So mixed results. Quite honestly, without the expected apps and USB functionality, I would have paid a lot less for a non-smart model.

Real Great Picture & Sound, I do like how thin the tv is but agree with the other reviewer that said the tv is very flimsy & bends, I do not like the Opera Browser & Opera apps at all.. That is my biggest complaint with this tv, Wish I would have chosen a tv with different apps & browser like android or Roku,

The setup was easy and the picture quality is great too! My brother and I bought this for my Dad for father's day. The 48 inch was a good size for his living room. He likes Sony and it didn't disappoint.

TV is super thin and lightweight. Easy to set up, picture and sound are fairly decent. Haven't used it for streaming yet, so can't comment on how well that does or doesn't work. I would say if you just need the basics, this is a good choice for the money.

Sony has the best picture quality and I need a smart TV so I bought this one (Sony KDL48W650D). I was happy with the picture quality, but the sound system is very disappointing. I had to put volume all the way to 30+ to hear it while my old Sony TV you only need to get to 10. Also I am disappointed that the TV only comes with limited preloaded Apps and it does NOT allow you to add APP yourself.

You Can Find Better. Trust me.

Have had problem after problem after problem. After replacing our 15-year old CRT, bought our first LCD. The sound NEVER syncs. Lips don't match. Have tried all settings. Internet Content RARELY works; frequently needs to be refreshed. Netflix app is glitchy. This TV had the cart put before the horse; they should have made sure the technology aspect worked. We use our Apple TV more to watch Netflix and Amazon, which sucks b/c we paid a premium to have a "Smart" TV. Best Buy should consider dumping Sony TVs. We bought an Insignia 39" for our front room and it's stellar!!! I truly think Sony uses this as a loss leader. Bummed....still paying it off 13 months later (5 more to go). No, I did not pay $70 for the 2 year Ext warranty, but maybe I should have....even if it is about 15% of the purchase price. Why doesn't Sony just make better products??? The only good thing is the slim profile and decent picture. I know Sony reps read these reviews. Let's see what they say. Let's see if Best Buy stands behind their products

    Poor port placement

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The tv looks great. Picture is good from almost any angle. Nice and thin. Mounting it on the wall makes the only optical audio port, and the primary HDMI port, inaccessible. The ports are in with the mounting points. My review dropped two stars because a wall mounted tv now has just one HDMI port. Major design flaw.

Problematic if you use a wall mount

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

At first, I liked this Sony TV a lot and found it more responsive to channel changes, and to turning on Netflix, than two Samsungs I own, even though they have more features and are truly "smart" TVs. But when I had a professional mount it on a wall, I got bad news: The HDMI input on the back was going to be blocked by the mount. He said he hated Sonys for this reason. That means I can only use the other HDMI input, which is more to the side. So if I want to add a gaming console or sound system, I will have to get an HDMI switcher box or, for sound, a splitter. Even though I know how to do this, it irks me, and I might take the TV back. The salesman talked up the features of the TV, and had he warned me about this (he knew I was going to have it mounted), I would have chosen a different brand.

Don't buy if you want to Wall Mount + Soundbar

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

One key thing that's bad about this TV is the placement of all the inputs, they are all in hard to get to spot or if you want to wall mount it and use soundbar with optical output (Which you should for this TV) then you are out of luck. The placement of HDMI (ARC) and optical out is in such an odd place that if you want to wall mount it, it is not going to be usable as others have shown too. If you want to buy and plan to wall mount it too, then this TV is not worth buying. Not sure how a company like Sony could possibly overlook this. Overall very much impressed with the picture quality of this TV

    Sony Going South on Quality!

This Sony TV was a stripped down version of another Sony TV I bought the same year. The better Sony TV crapped out after almost 5 years and this Sony model bit the dust one month before the extended warranty was to end! I really wish I had the extended warranty on the other Sony TV as well.

    Only lasted 16 months!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

It was great while it lasted. But exactly 16 months after purchase, a measly four months after their warranty expired, the screen pixilated and blacked out, never to return. Power still works, but the screen won't work As a long-time purchaser of Sony products (at least two stereos, a DVD player, and two camcorders), I am so disappointed in this product and the company's dismissiveness in my complaint. I had emailed the social support email account and explained the issue, and was asked to run a few tests on the television to make sure it wasn't something easily fixed. After these tests failed, I was told to visit "my nearest Sony technician" for repair, and they were kind enough to include a link to find my nearest tech. The nearest tech (and the ONLY one in my state) was two hours away, and even better, has gone out of business. When I asked what else they might recommend to make this right, I was told to take it to Best Buy or some local repair place and have it fixed. Having already spent nearly $500 on this scarily over a year ago, Sony must be joking if they think I'm going to purchase any more of their products. I am so disappointed in this company and this product. Don't buy this TV. Don't buy Sony products. They no longer stand behind their product or care about their customers.

Great picture but defective out of the box

The picture of this Sony TV was INCREDIBLE. But it kept losing hdmi input and the screen would go blank for a couple seconds. Spent $100 on new HDMI cables, made sure that the cables were away from power cords and did everything else Sony suggested ( i read that others had this trouble too). The problem persisted, and I returned it to the store. I ended up getting another LG since I had good luck with them in the past, even though I thought the Sony picture was better.
