    My first Sony

So my 49" Sony is replacing my 8 year old Panasonic 42" Plasma, which by the way is still working. Since my Panasonic was only 720p, what a treat seeing the picture on this Sony. Tremendous clarity. The sound is much better on this tv also. Many suggest a sound bar but for my wife and I, the sound is fine. The tv set up is simple. Just follow the on screen directions then tweak the settings if you'd like. After 2 days, we're very happy with this purchase. The reason I didn't rate it 5 stars is because the remote is not backlit. Overall, a great tv at a great price. I'm hoping this tv gives us many years of great viewing. Thanks Best Buy & thanks Sony!

Not A Sony Fan But One Great TV!

I never ever really purchased anything Sony mostly always stuck to LG or Vizo, but was in the market for a new 4k tv for my bedroom. Saw that it was on sales so I started doing my research on it and it seemed worth a buy for me. It gave me some trouble trying to connect to my WiFi but other than that the TV works flawless. Have it connected to my soundbar and with an Audi Quest HDMI and Digital Audio Output Cable from my Xbox One S and playing Gears 4 has been way way better on this TV than my previous Vizo or LG TV. As far as watching movies the quality and sound is way better also i enjoyed watching Apocalypse and TMNT on it also.

    Very nice TV

So far so good. Very easy setup. Multiple apps that work very well. excellent picture, and nice sound. At first I got 55 in 1080 HD but I did like picture on channels broadcasting in 720p like ESPN. I took that TV back to the store and replaced for 49 in model w UHD and BINGO. Picture is more vivid, no pixels visible. Only problem is that Cox does not broadcast anything yet in 4K.

    Not that smart.

5 stars for picture and sound BUT - after some research, it seems there is a longstanding problem with WIFI. After turning the TV off, you cannot turn the power strip off. Or, you will have to "forget network" and re-enter WIFI password every time. I have 2 other things connected to the same power strip and they reconnect with no problem. I had to purchase something else to make it smart and now just use that to connect to the internet in order to stream my Sling. I don't use the software on this TV at all. The big, long, white light on the front also has no option to turn it off. Irritating when you are watching in the dark. Also the stand is silver and glows in the dark from the glow of the TV. Also distracting. I will paint it black eventually. I am keeping this TV for its picture only.

    Excellent 4K computer monitor

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this Sony model based on reviews, specifically as a 4K computer monitor, since I do a lot of programming and graphics work. At that resolution, anything under 40 inches is difficult to use, so this 49 inch monitor was a very practical choice for me. I was pleasantly surprised at how good this was as a monitor. I have two other hi resolution monitors that I paid much more for, and this is the best of all of them. The color is accurate and the screen brightness is flat all the way to the corners. I have not used it as a TV, but have played videos on it. One point: I found that it is sharpest at 30 Hz, but that there is little difference in mouse movement, etc. from playing it at 60 Hz, probably because it is rated at twice the refresh rate of most other 4K TVs (240 vs 120). A pleasant surprise is that I can also get true 4K: The top resolution allows for 4096 x 2160 (true 4K) as well as 3840 x 2160 (regular 4K), so it can be used to edit 4K video. For something that is supposed to be a smart TV, it is an unusually great computer monitor on its own.

Excellent! Much better than cheaper Samsung 1080p!

I bought the Samsung UN50J6200AF TV for $450, thinking a 1080p picture has always appeared wonderful to me and didn't want to pay extra for 4K I wouldn't use. Not sure if it was an issue with the individual TV I got or with this model of TV in general, but I could not get the TV looking good no matter how I calibrated it. So I decided to return and get this Sony. Extremely happy I did! After calibrating per online web sites, I love the picture - it's sharp and colors look great! Feature set of the TV has everything I need. I don't think you will regret this purchase.

Just purchased Sept 16 over an LG I was looking at. TV is amazing!! Picture quality is awesome and setup was very easy. I like that the border of screen is flat black. Only complaint is that I wish speakers were louder.

I am very please with this purchase. It has a great resolution, quality and motion rate. Few things I don't like this though are the programming issue. You may find yourself confuse on how to alternate usage of remote for different inputs. But at the time you learn and figure it out, I guarantee that this will give you more reason to watch tv at home. This one doesn't come with TV remote with Voice activation so that one is of other cons. Overall, I highly recommend this TV to anyone who would want to upgrade their current TV or looking for a new one.

I bought this TV on black friday of 2016. I was on a budget, and wanted the best 4k Hdr Tv I could get for the price range I had set for myself. This set does not offer a Wide color gamut or the trimuls option of the higher upscale Sony sets, but for the money it is the best low end tv on the market. I have a Ps4 pro hooked up to it and couldn't be more satisfied.

    Has Exceeded All Expectations

Was debating on what 4k tv to purchase. I was initially drawn to the Sony from the start. This is our first Sony TV and it won't be our last. Remote even controls the Sony Blu Ray player we had. PS4 looks amazing on this tv. Picture quality is beyond words. Loaded up some 4k You Tube videos and just wow. Was going to purchase a sound bar but its not needed as the TV has great sound. The android app store. Google Play!! Hello!! This is a game changer. This is what smart TV should be about. Some of the Apps that I use, Emby, Kodi, Amazon, Netflix and so many more all built into this TV. Thank You Sony. Job well done.

This is a big, flat TV. Great! What I wanted. However it is very very automatic and sometimes takes a while to set up / synch up and browse through the tons of options. However, the picture quality is terrific.

    Super Glitchy!!!!

I bought this tv because my last was a Sony Bravia and it was a non- smart tv. But worked flawlessly for 9 years without a single issue. No burnt out bulbs, not connection issues. Nothing. It was literally flawless. I bought this new "Smart Tv" and will consistently have a bad time 50% of the time. It does not like my wireless router (from the same big box store) and requires a full restart at least once a week. Modem, router, and many buttons pushed on the tv remote to reset or at least re-start the app on the tv. Probably 12-15 minutes or more once a week. If you turn the tv off while an app is going (Netflix, Hulu, ect) you will have to completely back up out of the whole thing to restart the show. You can't just turn the tv back on and pick up where you left off. And basic functions are slow as well. Turn the tv on, select "tv" (over the air channels) and turn the volume up or down and it is slow to respond. And the on screen display is a long way behind. The picture is good in low light. But in a bright room, I feel like I'm missing a setting. I'm not because I've been through them all 10 times. It's a deep picture but not great for low light. But the down fall is the horrible, HORRIBLE!, interface with my home wifi. Nothing else in the house has a single issue! This tv is not fun to turn on.

Picture is very good, but black levels in movies are very bad. Menu is also slow to respond. Pressing input, you have to wait 3 seconds before the options display. Controls are on the left side of the TV. I have this wall hung in a corner, so they are very hard to get to. I had to reduce the color depth rate on my xbox one s for it to work right in UHD. The picture is very sharp and colors are good. Biggest issue is the black levels in movies and games. Corners always look much greyer than center of screen, pulls from immersion into the movie.
