I have had this TV for 18 months, it constantly needs updating and turns off for no reason. Sony products are usually pretty good but this particular unit pales in comparison to LG and Samsung. I ended up just throwing it away.

    Excellent (recent Plasma owners)

After owning Plasma TVs for the past 10 years, I couldn't beleive how hard it was to find a new tv! Plasma is such a different viewing experience than what is made now. We had a really hard time adjusting our eyes...until we finally found this Sony! We first tried the $300 55" Toshiba (1080p)...junk. and the $480 50" Samsung (4k ultra hd)...picture sucks if not sitting directly in front of... and finally landed on this $600 gem. The picture is exceptional. We set to the Standard picture option and brightness is 33. That is it. The picture is beautiful no matter where you sit. We have a sectional and this Sony is the only one of 3 we tried, that the picture looks as incredible sitting directly in front, or at the sectional ends, or at the dining room table. The picture is so realistic and the best choice for us, moving out off plasma ages! The other tvs we tried, picture settings had to be changed almost every time we changed the channel...unlike this Sony. Very pleased.

    Great TV...But

I purchased this TV a month ago. Excellent picture and clarity. You Tube was great until about a week ago when I no longer could stream music videos. They no longer load. If someone from Sony is out there, can you please tell me what went wrong. I read that 2012 models would no longer support certain video formats on You Tube but hey, This is a 2017 model. What's up??? I'm very disappointed. Is there anyway I can use a usb stick or anything that I can to get Videos back. Does this TV support ChromeCast or anything else I can use to view You Tube Videos?

Setup was awesome, simple. Much easier interaction with apps. Very smooth transition. So e this is a Bluetooth compatibl tv I was told Sony Bluetooth wireless headsets would work. After two hours and call to Sony they don't work. Can't use Bluetooth for audio.

Purchased this TV in the 43" on 8/26. We brought it home and noticed that when you go to turn it ON, it will intermittently not turn on and you have to unplug the power cord on back of TV to reset it. We contacted the local store and they asked us to bring it in and exchange it as we had had the unit for only 2-3 days. We did, and that TV did the same thing. We contacted the store again and this time, opted to exchange it for the same tv, only the larger size (the 49"). Brought that home and it's been just over a month, and this tv is now doing the same thing. Very frustrated. Going to contact both Sony and Best Buy and will update on their next move.

    Audio and picture syncing issues

    Posted .

If you are hooking up to basic coaxial cable, don't purchase this TV. We bought this TV as an upgrade from our previous Sony, hooked it up, and the audio and picture were out of sync. I called Sony and talked to 4 different people for a total of 3+ hours! Sony blamed the cable company. So we had to pay for a service call from our cable guy, who hooked up all his diagnostic equipment to our cable, and it had plenty of strength and was working perfectly. (We had a TV in this location and used this cable. We knew it worked perfectly, but needed to double check.) It was the TV. So the TV was returned and we got another. Well, it didn't work either! It's going back today. After researching this problem, I found many articles about the problems of the Sony 4K and the syncing issues. We have a 4K in our basement rec room, but it runs from a cable DVR box. Problem solved there. But, if you just want to use a basic coaxial cable, this isn't the TV for you. It won't work properly without additional support, which we did not want in this room. We have always had Sony TVs. This was a huge disappointment.

    OK Set

Wanted the Samsung TV in this size, but the base was too wide, so bought this Sony instead. The picture is OK, but not as bright as our old Samsung 40 inch TV. And the sound is nowhere as good as old old Samsung. It is in fact a bit fuzzy and we are forced to keep turning up the volume.
