Color and sharpness degrades drastically when viewing from an angle. Poor sound, had to buy a sound bar.

Not as great as we thought it would be especially when we bought Bose sound system to use with it

However its pretty pricy ..othe than that its awesome .. just the voice detector is little tricky

I could have gotten many TVs for half the price but.... I paid extra for the smart features. What an absolute piece of junk this TV is. I have had nothing but trouble with it. First the power supply is fickle. Sometimes it turns on and sometimes it doesn’t. I have to unplug the cord, replug. Then hold manual power button. Secondly watching internet TV every couple seconds the screen goes black and then comes back (not on antennae channels). Additionally it randomly just drops the internet connection and bumps you to a local channel. Then I have to restart the Sling app. NOW I can’t even restart the Sling app. I have uninstall it then reinstall it. I have NONE of these issues on my Sharp or Panasonic TVs so it is this TV. Not my internet or the Sling app. JUNK JUNK JUNK. Not even a year old and I HATE it with a passion. I will NEVER buy another Sony product as long as I live.

wireless cable does not work. does not allow for only one remote to operate.

Bought this TV a couple of weeks back. Picture quality is excellent for 1080 inputs and superb for 4K inputs. Availability of 4K is limited, but this will improve a lot over the next couple of years. Colors seem to be very accurate, with skin tones looking very real. The sound is okay for a TV, but I got a Zvox sound base so I could customize the sound. I have poor hearing and the sound now seems excellent. I see no lip sync problems, but I did not calibrate this, so thanks to the Best Buy guy for that. Price went down $100 10 days after I bought it and Best Buy gave me a full credit for the difference, and now I feel very good about buying it from them. I have the 49 inch and was somewhat limited in my choice because of the size of the opening for a TV in our wall unit. Our old Sony had a habit of heating up but I find that this unit has no such problem. I think the local dimming is very good and I see no problems with the backlighting. The contrast on the TV is very good and graphics, which seem to be 90% of TV pictures these days, are very clear and readable from any distance. I am very pleased with this purchase. I researched many choices extensively before I bought the Sony XBR49X900E and I am glad I did because there is a lot of useless information to be sifted through out there.

Bought this just before the Superbowl to replace an 8 year old Insignia tv. The first thing I noticed in the store was how evenly bright the screen was. I brought it home and hooked it up to cable box and blu ray player and home wifi. Picture was great with cable, better with blu ray. The real treat came when I streamed 4k uhd content from Netflix and Amazon. HDR content is simply breathtaking. Altered Carbon on Netflix was a visual spectacle, the lighting effects and the clarity of contrast cannot be overstated. Setup was easy and straightforward, The smart interface is surprisingly fast, even compared to my fire stick I had on the old tv. The Android TV voice assistant is a good addition although its functionality is mostly useful for locating content on the Google services like You Tube and the google play store. It would have been nice to be able to search across all apps to find movies or tv shows. The only other negative is the remote needs to be pointed directly at the sensor to work. This can be overcome by downloading the Android tv app on your phone and using that as a remote over your home wifi network. I am thrilled with this tv and would recommend it to any one looking for a great sub $1000 tv with HDR and smart features and the Sony badge.

I ordered the xbr900e 55" on Feb 19 at Best Buy, sight unseen. Best Buy had not received any of the 2017 models yet. My salesman happen to be a Sony specialist. I was considering the 2016 930d and asked the rep to explain the differences between the two. He said the 900e had the new and improved X1 4K HRD Processor chip and all other features were about the same. I figured for $200 more and the new chip, I opted for the 2017 900e. Mind you, for 11 years I was watching a Mitsubishi rear projector High Def tv. I realize that anything would look better. My Sony was delivered by Geek Squad on Feb 23. It took 30 minutes to unbox and set up. All I can say it delivers a gorgeous picture, especially from 4k streaming content. The upscaling from regular tv programming is also terrific. I cannot judge the sound quality because I have home theatre speakers.

My first Sony TV. I loved everything about the TV . . until it died 6 months later. Sony traded for a re-certified of same model. 12 months later (still under warranty), TV not working again. Different issue. I have Sony on the phone again and presently moving up the food chain to try to get a resolution. Legitimate issue and case number both times. Maybe it's the model? Maybe there's a glitch in the Android system? No one will say. Hopefully Sony will come thru.

Purchased this TV because I have always been impressed with Sony products. Every sales associate at Best Buy said this was the best 4K TV in the 49inch class size at the time. Three weeks after the warranty expired the TV stopped working. I was hopeful that Sony might do something for me since the warranty just expired. However, no such luck. Sony would not do anything to help me out.

I been having this 4k TV for about 4 months now and I'm really glad I got it. I enjoy every time I play it on my PS4 Pro. The colors are just stunning and crisp, the black are really close to OLED TV in my opinion. I'm glad I did my homework. If you are in a market for a 4K TV definitely check this out in your local Best Buy store. Highly recommend it.

I received a tv that was defective so had to return it

Finally a premium TV under 50"!! This TV just fit in my enterainment center thanks to the slim bezel. The KDL46HX850 it replaced was relocated to my bedroom. This TV is much brighter out of the box then my old TV and colors really pop! The upscale of 1080p to 4k for live HD TV broadcast is excellent. I use Directv Now via Apple TV and the picture is something to behold from a distance away compared to old TV which wasn't that bad. I setup Netflix and Amazon through he TV and Ultra HD streams are amazing! I have not adjusted picture settings out of the box as this TV seems adequate. I can, wholeheartedly, recommend this TV to anyone looking for a 4k premium TV under 50". It's amazing how much price has come down on these TV's over the years. I waited some time before upgrading to 4k and I am glad I did. Next purchase will be the new Sony 4k bluray player (UBP-X800).

This tv is not an upgrade. Super buggy operating system.Drops smart TV apps when wifi is at full strength. The upgraded OS requires resetting audio inputs to achieve surround sound when switching from tv to smart apps. Very disappointing overall

It was a solid tv while it last unfortunately a bad worldwide update, requiring a board replacement. Later in addition to unforeseen ribbon issue made this defective after years of use. Best Buy was able to use my warranty to replace it.

Great picture quality and color, but the remote is difficult to use. 4K is useful for internet, YouTube and the like. Search YouTube for 4K and you'll be surprised what you get. We get 104 digital TV channels with an external antenna connection, but most are 720 to 1080 p.

4K HDR content is absolutely amazing. The blacks and contrast levels are good for the price point. The sound quality is good enough for me and the customization options for sound is more than adequate; I personally prefer Cinema sound option for all content since it sounds better than others. The OS is slow compared to LG/Samsung ones but the picture quality trumps them. All in all a great TV and the viewing angles are good too.

The TV is great but being older we seem to have trouble when turning on & off. The Geek Squad fellow came & showed us what to do if we have trouble so now it is not so frustrating.

Stepped up from an 8 year old Samsung that had developed measles. Set-up was pretty straight-forward, but still have some work to do getting the remote, IR blaster, and cable box to all play nice together. Sound quality is adequate, but a soundbar is on its way. The picture quality is outstanding, with plenty of controls available to tweak color, tone, brightness, etc. The standard brightness setting was a bit too bright for our taste, so we toned it down a notch. Easy to switch to your own preference. Can't speak to its longevity yet, but all our other Sony TV's (save one costly mistake) have lasted for years. FYI - the website Rtings.com was a great resource for info.
