Outstanding picture quality. My daughter has a LG oled tv. I cannot tell the difference. I paid $500 less. The menu system is simple to follow. I have it connected to a Sony Blu-ray player. And a Sony sound bar.easie-peasie connections and operation.

Hi Nelcarcar, You've made an excellent choice! We're glad to hear you like the outstanding picture quality, user-friendly Android TV interface, ease of connectivity with your Sony devices. The X950H’s Full Array Local Dimming and Boosting technology provides a dramatic increase in contrast and brightness from anywhere in the room thanks to X-Wide Angle technology that is now offered in additional screen sizes (except 49”). The X1 Ultimate Processor, Sony’s best processor to date, delivers a picture with ultimate realism and upscales everything you watch to a near 4K HDR. Thanks for choosing Sony! -Sam Sony_US

We purchased this TV just before Christmas. It has a great picture and decent sound if you are watching 4k TV shows and movies such as what is on Netflix. The TV does not do well when watching older shows and movies. The scenes are in low resolution and it looks like the TV constantly tries to enhance the image but can't do it. The scenes get blurry then better then blurry. We have also noticed this happening on modern shows like The Murdoch Mysteries, Heartland, and The Listener (all are not in 4k). We have also had to "restart" the TV twice because of lost connectivity. One time we could sign-in and watch 2 of our streaming channels but not the third. A couple of weeks after that we lost all connectivity to the internet. We could not use the guide feature and we could not sign-in to any of our streaming services. In both cases the only way I could recover the capability was to unplug the TV for 1 minute or hold the power button down for 5 seconds. Both ways "restarted" the TV and I got all our internet capabilities back.

Hi OnlySoSo, thank you for bringing this to our attention. While we are glad you are satisfied with the amazing picture & sound quality of our X950H when watching 4K videos, we are sorry if you are encountering issues when watching non-4K shows & movies and network connection. This definitely not the experience we wanted you to have on our premium TV. To get the most out of your X950H, we recommend updating its firmware to the latest version (v6.05042 - released February 23, 2021). The software includes key features, applications, bug fixes, and feature improvements. For more information, please visit the link below:

This is a great TV (Somewhat)

While this TV has really, really, great, incredible picture and sound quality, Google is terrible. Sure, It's true that you don't need to sign into a Google Account in order to use the TV, but an annoying pop-up keeps pestering you to do so while you're right in the middle of trying to watch a show or movie until you do. Then, one time, right in the middle of trying watch something something on Netflix through my Roku Player, the TV automatically switched to the Google Play built-in Smart TV App all on it's own! Then, Later on, the TV automatically switched to The Smart TV Home screen while I was trying watch a Blu-ray. Doesn't Sony realize Google is a Terrible, evil, corrupt company? Why would they put that in their TVs? I don't expect you to help cause you're never any help. You're probably going answer review with a condescending response like you always do, right?

      Hi TechSpoob,

Thank you for purchasing our Sony X950H Ultra HD Smart TV.

While we are glad that you like the picture and sound quality, we regret that you're having an issue where the TV asks you to use your Google account, switches to built-in apps, or to the Home screen while you are in the middle of watching something. This is definitely not the viewing experience we want you to have. We'd love to help you troubleshoot your problem by isolating your sources and understanding your connections.

49 inch SONY X950 - big, expensive disappointment

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

It looked so much better hanging on the wall in the store. On 4K images from NETFLIX or YouTube, the image is excellent. However on TV programs from the built-in TV tuner or from the cable box – not so good. The image contains excessive compression artifacts that could be largely eliminated on my 50 inch 2013 SONY through menu options on the TV. Most disappointing is the fact that on the 950 I could find NO WAY OF UPSCALING to 4K images from the TV tuner, the Blu-ray player or the cable box. That means most of the time you are viewing material that looks no better (maybe worse) than it does on a regular 1080 HDTV. At over $1000, this SONY TV cost 2½ times as much as a VIZIO M series 50 inch which is what I really wanted anyway - but was not in stock. Instead of standing straight up to 90 degrees, the legs supplied with this TV tilt the set upward about 2 degrees. If your TV stand is very low (18 inches or less) this might be helpful BUT if your TV stand is taller than that – as most are – the set is awkwardly angled up and not in direct view with your line of sight. The sound from the TV speakers is poor. I have had two other SONY flat panel TVs in the past and their sound was fine. My 39 and 40 inch VIZIOs have good sound. But the sound on this 950 is unnatural and harsh. Familiar TV voices and music don't sound quite the same as they always did. There is a headphone output that can be used to feed a sound bar, analog stereo system or miniature FM transmitter but when it's used, it cuts off the feed to the internal speakers. A previous SONY TV that I own allows the headphone output to be used simultaneously and even offers separate volume control for its output level. There are no RCA analog audio outputs. The composite video/audio input requires a special adapter. Navigating the myriad of menus is a unnecessarily cumbersome. I have owned 5 SONY TVs in my life and have always considered them the best TVs out there. Sadly, what SONY is making now does not measure up to their once well-deserved stellar reputation.

Well it was ok for 2 and 1/2 years but is dead now. display is out. I have other TVs in my house(all Samsung that are 15 to 20 years old that still work fine and never had an issue with them. This was a $1000.00 TV that is dead after 2 1/2 years. Sony apparently is an inferior brand.Or is it because it is a smart 4k tv? don't know but very dissapointed.

SONY SUPPORT HORRIBLE BRAVIA SYNC NOT FUNCTIONING

    Posted .

If your watching TV and decide to turn on the PS4 the TV will automatically switch the input for the PS4 . However if you turn off the PS4 it will stay on the PS4 input and not change back to TV input. I spent 4 hrs today back & forth with Sony and they were no help at all. It appears the TV is not seeing the ATT/Uverse box signal. My old 4 yr old Samsung TV worked and so did my 8 yr old Sony TV were both able to switch back to the TV input automatically after turning off PS4. 1K for this TV and it cannot function with the PS4 and both are Sony products. RIDICULOUS !!.
