This is just ok. Sony could do a better job of designing it so it plays all discs randomly and continuously.

This review is for my second unit I bought in two weeks. The first had to be exchanged due to USB stopping to read flash drive and burnt smell. I connected to my receiver (15 yr old Technics) using digital audio cable and was ready to go. The changer seems fine and is fairly quiet when changing discs.. Some noise is expected. Using the USB has been fine also so far. I put 20 songs on a 8GB PNY to try it out and it's been playing without a problem. One thing about using flash drive ,, the unit reads the files in this order .. Artist, Album, Track and doesn't go by the track numbers at all. If you have a bunch of tracks by same artist, the unit will play all from the Artist then move on to the next. I guess that's why you can shuffle. The space between songs in USB mode is about 2-3 seconds. The space between songs with multiple discs is about 15 seconds. For the price, this Changer is pretty good and I expect to get a lot of use out of it. It sounds great on Technics receiver with Cerwin-Vega speakers. Old timers for sure.. I advise using the digital audio cables versus the analog connections as it does sound much better. The cables are less than $10 in most places.

I had high hopes for this CD player given the mostly good reviews, but it didn't work when it arrived. The packaging looked fine. The player would turn on but the tray wouldn't open. This was for my garage system but after I returned it to Best Buy I switched to iPod and bluetooth. In any case, no hassles with Best Buy in returning it. All of the other stuff I order arrived without any problems.

I just purchased this unit to replace a previous Sony player that died an early death. Truth be told, I never really liked that old player, so am not mourning its demise even one little bit... My very first impression with the CDP-CE500 was the sound. Wow! It seems so crisp and clear, and the bass response is really strong so we're off to a good start! Now for the controls: While not all functions are present on the front panel the remote more than makes up for that. In addition to On/Off and Eject buttons you can control all the different play modes (including a Shuffle Repeat setting !), as well as USB functions. I was really concerned about this particular aspect of the player, and neither the website nor the store staff could fully answer my specific questions in this regard, so I'm happy to report that I am completely satisfied with the functionality of the remote control! Give the Sony CDP-CE500 a try -- I think you'll be pleased!

I bought this around a week ago. I had the older 5 CD Sony, & it was great. BUT, this is AWESOME to the MAX!! I've wanted this for quite a while now...& I am GLAD I finally have it!!!! It works perfectly, so far!! Sound quality is excellent!! As good as my Tascam CD recorder. I have music snob ears too. I'm a musician. Plays CD's great, & LOVE the USB!!!!!! I use a flash drive on it A LOT. Plays MP3's, WMA, etc....perfectly. I can't say enough good about it. I haven't recorded to USB yet. Can't wait. Thank you to Sony!!! I have a Sony Receiver from 1993 in my rack, and another CD/DVD player. I'm a SONY freak. Connected to Cerwin Vega 3 way speakers. Music Heaven!!!! I recommend this to anyone who loves music! Note: I am a Best Buy Customer. I purchased this at the local Best Buy. I don't have my member number to fill in. Just a bar code.

I purchased this CD player to replace an older, massive 400 disc Sony carousel. I needed to make room for a larger, new receiver so I researched this player on the Best Buy website (and others), and it seemed to rate highly everywhere I looked. I decided to purchase this unit to replace my other Sony, and I am very happy with the operation and features. Great price also when it is on sale at Best Buy.

Ordered on Tues, received Thurs...can't beat that. Easy to hook up. And like another reviewer stated, great for us old school stereo users. This is probably just me, but I would've given 5 stars if the various input buttons were on the player instead of just the remote....accidents happen. :)

I wanted something I could hook up to my existing amp and play CDs. I didn't need anything fancy and wanted it to be affordable.I've had a Sony blu-ray player for a few years and have been happy with that, so I took a chance on this 5 disc CD changer. So far, it works great, the instructions are straight-forward and the remote is actually useful. The extra features, like being able to record a CD to a thumb drive or external hard rive via USB, are nice, but I haven't used them much so far. I'm very happy with my purchase.
