This is a fantastic TV. It is my second Sony flat panel TV, the first now being from 10+ years ago from a PS3 bundle has done a great job and after owning a LG and VIZIO 4k and being disappointed with both I decided to pay a bit more and try the Sony x90J. I bought this TV to go with my PS5. So far I have no complaints when using it with my PS5. It just looks great. I also use it to watch sports and movies. The only thing I am iffy about is the NetFlix mode, some content looks great and others seem a bit off, maybe the content isn't HDR and that is why there is an issue. Pros: First, one of the most unknown benefits of owning a Sony TV is the remote. It can be used on the PS3, PS4, PS4 Pro and PS5 as a media remote controller. No need for an extra remote. Second, out of the box colors are nearly perfect. I made minor adjustments to fix the minor issues. Other brands I spent hours adjusting them to get their color accuracy close to what Sony provides out of the box. Third, features. This TV has the new Google TV instead of Android. It is similar but the new Google TV provides a bit of future proofing. Also there are two 2.1 HDMI ports for the the latest gaming consoles or for a higher people who want to use eARC for better audio. Also the motion handling of this TV is really good when compared to my other 4K TVs. Fourth, unlike the older model the X90J comes in at 50" for those of us who only are looking for a smaller TV for gaming or smaller rooms. Fifth, one year free of Bravia Core service; this includes quite a selection of Sony movies and watching them in 4K with HDR for free is a nice bonus. You also get five free movies that can be used on newer movies from Sony. Sixth, since I am using this in a small area I decided to forgo a sound bar and this TV speakers are actually not bad when compared to other TVs in my household that don't use a sound bar. The Cons: VRR: Not support yet but is to come in an update. I think once the PS5 gets VRR support this TV as well as the older model will get VRR and ALLM added in an update. FreeSync: Not supported at all - this is probably because PS5 also does not support FreeSync. Viewing Angle: This TV viewing angles are horrible compared to TVs with IPS panels. Because Sony went with a VA panel the TV gets much brighter than TVs with IPS panels but the viewing angles are much smaller, for me this isn't an issue but it is something to consider if viewing angles are a priority.

Sony X90J Tv is an excellent choice. For movies, streaming, 4k or HDR movies and PS5. It plays it all, with a stunning picture and performance. Set up was a breeze, great picture out the box. I still put a little touch of my preference with calibration to the Tv." Wow" love it as much as my Sony OLED A90j TV. The X90J was installed in my son's bedroom. He loves the picture and performance when playing his PS5 and streaming movies. If you're looking for a reasonable price for quality, this will fit the bill. Sony TV'S are the best in my book, always bought a Sony tv when I needed one great job Sony.

I had my other Sony Bravia for 20 years and never had an issue with it. But, I wanted a larger TV, so the hunt was on. At Best Buy, of course, there are all kinds of products to look at. I appreciated finding someone who could help me with a new TV. I already had my Sony Bravia 50" as my first choice, but continued to look at additional models. It came down to Sony, LG, and Samsung. I chose the Sony and couldn't be happier. To me, it has the best color and is so easy to use, plus it's a Google smart TV. I would highly recommend it if you're looking for a new tv!

Cheaper than X95J which has no mini LED either but more local dimming zones. The X90J is 2021's non-oled Sony lineups' better choice. HDR, plus VRR, 4K@120hz, Dolby Vision @60hz for HDMI 2.1 port 3 &4. Good picture quality yet much cheaper than X95J model.

This is an excellent tv with only a couple of caveats. The sceen color and shadows are WAY better whenever you use HDR 10 giving the picture a MUCH more authentic look. However HDR 10 is not without it's flaws. For starters even though the tones are a lot more vibrant and natural (for the most part), certain colors become way to saturated. To the point that they may very slightly bleed. Also HDR 10 seems to add some unwanted noise. You can remedy most of this by tweaking some of the color settings (yes there are a lot of color options) but the noise present doesn't seem to have a complete remedy here but At least the noise isn't so noticable while playing games. This tv also has a special kind of sharpness in the clarity settings called reality that will be particularly interesting to gamers . The reality will really clean up the graphics and allow you too see shadows and details that you didn't even know we're there. It's quite amazing really. And if you have a system such as a ps4 or series s this feature is all the better because it kinda has the impression of an upscaler. To some degree if you play with up a little it can make a 720p image look closer to 4k. Plenty of inputs. Some specifically for 4k content. Decent sound onboard and certainly loud enough for any small to mid size living room. (I have a small living room and I would not dare run it at a 100 during an action scene) the remote voice search is brilliant. I would recommend that you NEVER turn the Bluetooth off your tv though because the controller has to be connected to the tv via Bluetooth for voice searching and when I turned it off I couldn't reconfigure the voice search. So I had to factory reset the tv to get that feature again. As far as Google tv is concerned The tv is very quick. Your apps will load without much of a wait. Sometimes instantaneous. However some app seem to have a slight incompatibility issue. Like HBO sometimes freezes and I have to turn the tv off to get it working again. All in all if your looking for a great tv for movies or games especially if you gotta have Sony, then this is a great option for you. I just wish vivid had a game more seeing as vivid tends to look the best overall on movies or games. As a suggestion. If you buy this tv or any other tv and you have highspeed Internet, do yourself a favor and get a USB to Ethernet dongle It will make your movie viewing experience MUCH better seeing as most HDMI inputs on TV's only do 100mbps and you can get double that with the dongle.

This set's picture is better than others I own costing far more. In addition to the excellent clarity, if has very accurate color. I don't know why but you can always tell the quality of a TV picture by looking at things that are red. Less capable TVs make red look somewhat pinkish. On this TV, reds look red! One of the first things I do with a new set is shut off motion smoothing because I don't like the "soap opera effect". Sony's motion smoothing is subtle and improves the picture. It takes out the jittery motion when the camera pans without making the picture look strange. Great for sports and movies. Lastly I'm a fan of the Google TV OS. I find it far better than any other TV OSs. It's intuitive and unlike other some streaming devices, it does not mix paid and unpaid content which makes navigation easier. It also recommends content across all your subscribed streaming services which is really helpful when trying to figure out what to watch across Hulu, Netflix, Prime ... For those of you in the Apple versus Google camp, I use Apple for pretty much everything else. If you are an Apple person, give it a try. I think you'll enjoy the experience. Wholeheartedly recommend this set!

This TV is great! I was worried cuz I had seen some reviews on it but most were positive. I was split between this, the Samsung Q80A or the LG NanoCell 80. I think this was a great choice. I love LG tvs due to the screen. They make some of the best screens but their OS is horrible and I HATE the magic remote. I know they've kind of changed the OS but still... I've had a Samsung Q60 and it's great but I not having many functions on the remote is kind of eh. I can't search channels or anything... And the screen is decent but if I remember correctly the VRR is coming to a later update. The Sony had all the features I wanted (Google/Alexa, updated ports, etc ), the screen is great, the OS is great (Google TV is amazing... I have a Google TV connected to my Samsung Q60) and I got it for $200 off. Sound quality is decent but you'll want to get a soundbar for sure. I currently have a Bose Solo 5 connected and it works amazing with the tvs ARC support. I am very pleased with my purchase... Don't let the bad reviews fool you. I researched for a while and I'm glad I picked this one.

I bought this to replace my 4 year old Vizio. I highly doubt my old tv was 4K because this tv is crisp. The image quality is amazing. I use it primarily for gaming on Series X and PS5. I haven’t experienced any lag with either system. I can’t comment on sound because I only use headsets.

Open Box purchase and it's AMAZING!!! Our guest room TV took a dump and my wife told me the night before we were having guests that the TV was done for! So off to Best Buy I go! Associates were VERY helpful as I crawled through the open box aisle and found this diamond in the rough! I got it hung and set up in less than an hour. Great sound, picture and am loving the Google TV format. I have FireTV in all of my others and thought I would give Google a shot. So far, So GOOD! I'll switch to Google TV when I start replacing my TV's in my home and offices. It seems easier and less clutter! Thanks Sony and Best Buy!

I picked up my new Sony XR50X90J last Wednesday and promptly did the setup. This tv is very easy to install - I just used the stand that came with the tv, which just snaps into place and was good to go. The Google TV function helps you with setting up the “smart” aspects - It walks you through the process, again I found the setup to be simple and straightforward. I’m using a house external antenna and the TV found at least twice the number of broadcast stations than my 2015 vintage 40” Class Full HD TV it replaced. Connecting to the network was easy, and if you have a “dual band” WiFi router the tv will find and use the faster WIFI speed. Going from a 40” Full HD TV to this 50” 4K Sony was a real eye opener. The picture is sharp with great contrast and color. Most all of my Full HD media gets the upscale to near 4K. If the broadcast stations have high definition, this TV upscales the signal and presents a vivid picture with near 4K precision. I am not a gamer so I can’t comment about the Bravia Game Mode built into this set. It is so easy to stream high definition content to this tv, whether it comes from internet based services, through the tuner with the OTA broadcast, streamed from a tablet with ChromeCast Built-in or spooled using AirPlay. Regardless of input the picture is very impressive. The sound is very good but not the high quality of audio run through a soundbar system. However, for me the sound is equally impressive as is the picture. If you have questions about the specifications, there is a wealth of data found on the internet. So I went from a 40” Class Full HD TV to this 50” Class 4K TV and really appreciate the higher resolution picture it presents. I am happy with my purchase.

Fantastic. This Sony XR50X90J is a great TV. Excellent picture, great color. Very clear images and the refresh rate means there is no motion blur. Because it is a LED the side view is washed out, but we knew the was a function of the LED design, not a Sony issue. We wanted a medium size because of the wall it had to mount on, and did not want it to overpower the room. The 50 inch size is perfect. Great TV and excellent service from the Geek Squad doing a wall mount for us, connecting to the internet and making sure all apps worked before the rep left our house.

First Sony TV I have not been happy with. There are some quality aspects to this TV, but is comparable to issues noted in models half this price. Poor viewing angle for those in limited size rooms. Picture presets are obnoxiously bright, washing out color richness and/or accuracy. I know some people love the brightness, but I do not. A good picture can be bright, but a bright picture doesn’t necessarily make it good. More difficult to adjust picture settings than it should be to your preference. Picture quality is intermittent on UHD blu ray, YouTube, HBO Max, PS5, etc. Pretty bad blooming issues. Green tinge still notable despite an update released. Cannot believe a 2021 model has so few 2.1 HDMI inputs and features like VRR aren’t available yet. Feels like an under baked and incomplete product. Returned and spent $250 more for the CX OLED, and so glad I did. Not going to ramble on, just saying much better options at a similar price range.

Really enjoying this new Sony TV. It replaces a 11 year old Bravia which still had a good picture but wasn't smart or high definition. My daughter requested to be given our old one and it will be on its way to her soon. The new Bravia has an outstanding picture and seemingly endless features. The picture adjustments allow custom settings. Beyond the basic apps many additional are available through Google. Sony products typically cost a bit more than competing items but my experience indicates that they are of higher quality, have fewer technical problems and are more dependable over time.

Amazing!!!! I bought this tv after I retuned the Samsung qn90a. Although, the Samsung neo word was excellent, I felt it was overpriced for its performance. I wanted to get a tv primarily for gaming with my ps5, Xbox series x and watching football in my backyard. This tv gets very, very bright. Easily overcoming the brightness of the sun and the adjustment options are fantastic. At first, I was hesitant to buy the x90j, simply because of the side by side comparison in rtings but I honestly have to say the Sony comes much closer to my lg oled cx in terms of contrast, color accuracy, and HDR. Btw, I believe the CX is still the gold standard for gamers, however it does not get bright enough to overcome the glare of the sun when I watch outside. If you are a gamer and a football lover, do yourself a favor and get this TV NOW. It is on sale and it ultimately saved me $671 dollars with the 5 year warranty compared to the Qn90a. Great value. Excellent TV for movie viewing and gaming. Finally supports VRR, just waiting for the PS5 to receive it as well. But the VRR does work pretty well on the Xbox Series X. The 120 FPS is also another must have feature for gamers. The smart features of this TV are easy to use, and Dolby vision HDR looks great in movies. The longest process is to set everything up, but once you get through that, its a great television for anything really.

I bought this in Dec 2022 to upgrade from my 2017 model of an entry level 4k Samsung. This Sony TV has won me over to the other side. Much, much clearer picture, HDR is actually bright, and the different Video settings are amazing. The IMAX and Vivid settings make movies look incredible (used it to watch Winter Soldier). Pairs up great with my PS5 and Series X as well. Streaming apps work flawlessly and don't freeze.
