Great TV for the Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like any other shopper, I read the reviews about this TV before buying it. I purchased it during the Saturday door-busters. This unit is lightweight, affordable without all the bells and wistles of 4k, HDR, etc.. It was easy to set it up, good screen size, the control remote is well designed. I have no complaints so far. I set up a two year warranty plan for it just in case I need it down the road.. I would recommend it to other people looking to buy a great TV at a great affordable price..

Best TV for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After 2 tv purchases and returns I asked a Best Buy associate for help in selecting a smart tv within my price range and features desired. I was shown the Sony 55" Bravia KDL-55W650D. I decided to give it a try and it is by far the best for the price exceeding my expectations. 2 sales staff loaded it into my truck while mentioning I had made a great choice. Easy to set up, plays apps such as Netflix with ease and mirrors my tablet with no problem. Love the sound settings, picture quality and auto tune for local channels is by far the best I have seen in a Smart tv. No longer will I go it alone but will seek help from Best Buy sales staff when making in store purchases from now on. Thanks Best Buy!

Excellent picture quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV on a deal from BB. In contrast I was comparing the 4K variants from Insignia, Vizio and LG as they were in comparable price range. I chose this one as my past experience with Sony has been awesome. I am glad I chose this one. This TV is great value for money. The picture quality is truly Sony quality. The only downside is that the sound like any other flat panel tv is not the best so you'd need a sound bar. Also, the TV is no so smart when it comes to apps so most certainly you'd need a Roku stick or Chromecast to enjoy the full experience.

Even better if you find it on sale!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had another brand ordered from Best Buy online and it was supposed to be delivered in about 6 days but when I checked status I found it was on back order and they really couldn't tell me when I would receive it so I cancelled the order and drove to the store to check out my options. When I was walking back towards the TV section I saw a bunch of these up front in boxes on sale for like 348.00 . I went back to the TV section and looked at other options and finally took the help of one of the sales guys (I told them I would let them know when I had any questions and the graciously accepted my request) and asked a couple of questions on this model and he gave the me answers. I really wanted a TV with a browser built in as I stream dirt track races from time to time but I do have an extra PC which has been relocated to the living room and connected Via HDMI so its all good to go. I really don't need nexlfix or the other stuff but the you tube is fun and the other stuff is there if needed. Now to the nitty gritty :). The picture quality is awesome on HD but as all HD sets go the non HD stuff is grainy and blurry on some channels. I did get an upgrade from my cable company and if I am watching a non HD channel for a long period of time I can change the resolution to 480I and it looks better. The WIFI was a piece of cake to set up and works great . They really dont tell you in the specs but this has a lan connection if you might want to hard wire it to your router and if I wasnt hard wired with spare my computer (just to prevent any latency) I would have hard wired this also . I havent tried the USB yet but if it works like everything else does it should be fine.

Great tv
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love this tv, great picture, sound better than I thought it would be. Easy to use and set up- probably could have done it myself- and I have NO tech skills- but chose geek squad and they were wonderful. Hauled away my old big tv. Only suggestion is be sure you tell the guy who calls with the time window if you have a particularly large tv so they can bring an extra guy and bigger vehicle.

Great TV, almost perfect actually!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this on sale and so far it's been a great bargain. Blacks are solid and dark and no motion blur. The included apps I've used are great (Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime). Just wish it had the ESPN app. Speakers are serviceable (clear but a bit tinny) for general use but if you want home theater sound get a sound bar.

Tv version of a Lexus or Toyota
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony always lives up to the name for reliability, bought in 2016 rarely ever in off or sleep mode, still ticks like brand new. The only thing is the technology now in 2023 makes this super outdated

Beautiful Picture
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome 1080p!!!! Sony did it again!!!! For the price this has to be the best 55inch hands down. I compared this TV to the Insignia 4k Roku TV. I was initially interested in the Insignia 4k Roku TV because I have about 3 Roku devices in my home so I love the platform. When I did the comparison side by side I ended up returning the Roku TV and staying with the Sony. The colors are so soft, robust and life like. Amazing picture. I know 4K is supposed to be the future but its not ready for main stream yet. If your in the market for a 500dollar TV get it you will not be disappointed. Cons: Limited smart features and slow smart interface.

Very Sharp Picture
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my son as a replacement for a Samsung 46" TV that after only five years abruptly died! I went to Best Buy thinking I might buy another Samsung but decided against it. My son has used this TV mostly with his XBOX 360 but also for some general TV watching. The picture and sound are very, very good. I have owned laptops, video and digital cameras and a previous Sony CTR TV and never have had a problem with their products.

It's good for the price///can't win them all
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Seen the 48 inch originally had 240hz but then for 50 bucks more ,I brought the 55 inch thinking the specs was the same. The sales associate in the store was helpful help me find the item, but seemed more into selling me the bigger one. I get home set it up and it's not giving me that 240hz picture I'm looking for, doesn't really specify the HZ on it so IDK if it's 60hz 120hz 240hz. I threw away the box already it's ok over all it's a cool tv, I thought I did my research but got a little thrown off there's always next year....

Great find at great price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV was briefly on sale for $399. I had to drive 60 miles but I felt compelled to after reading the reviews. The picture is great, but all these TVs have great pictures-it was the sound that blow me away. So much deeper and richer than I was used to. Easy to install center base, didn't want stands at end of TV which a lot of TVs are doing now.

Great tv but has some drawbacks
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love this tv, I did some research before I bought it and liked what I saw. If your looking for a HDTV it's worth it, but it does have 2 drawbacks. It's labeled a smart tv but it's based on an opera system (so no psvue if you use that) it does have amazon and Netflix, so we kept out Roku player hooked up which brings the other problem. 2 hdmi inputs, we purchased a rocketfish hdmi 4port selector and now we have plenty of inputs

Good for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picked it up yesterday. Very easy to set up. Previously had a non-smart TV that I streamed video/movies thru my computer. The WIFI built in the new TV works much better. A little fiddling with the video settings and it has a great picture. On my old TV, the closed caption only worked for movies that had it built in the video. This one works for everything. The remote works well with a little learning. The built in apps cover everything I need (Youtube, Amazon, Netflix).

Picture Quality is less than expected
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked this TV up on black Friday when it was on sale for $349. It had great reviews and was going fast in the stores so I trusted that it was probably going to beat my 3 year old Sony. I was wrong. I've reviewed all directions and have tried to get the picture quality to improve (faces have an orange hue to them that won't go away) but nothing changes. There is pixilating during news casts, sporting events and some channels, while broadcast in HD do not have that great HD sharpness that you'd expect. The size is great for my living room so that is a plus, but the TV is going back. You truly do get what you pay for.

Posted .Hi Peanuttybaby, We regret to hear that this unit failed to meet your expectations. We suggest checking different inputs of the TV such as the inputs for a cable box, satellite box, DVD, or Blu-ray Disc player, etc. If the issue is observed only on one of these devices, check the settings of the connected device, rather than the TV. -Jerome

Lip Sync Issue (audio and video out of sync)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased a new Sony 55" 1080p TV (KDL55W650DM), but it has noticeable lip sync issue (half a second or so). Video seems to be lagging behind the audio. It occurs on all sources: antenna, YouTube, USB Video. I don't have any sound system connected, using only built in speakers. Some TV channels are more out of sync than others. YouTube and Videos seem to be less out of sync, but still not perfect. Sometimes the sync issue almost disappears (or at least it seems that way), but if I watch closely I still see it. Sometimes it's very pronounced (usually on the news broadcasts). I updated my TV software/firmware to the latest version, also did a power reset and a factory reset with no improvement. There seems to be no seeting in the menu to adjust audio sync, etc. If I don't find a solution in the next couple of day, will be returning this TV. I always loved Sony products, but issues like this might make me look elsewhere.
