Great Looking TV, Picture. Two Issues Google play
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The google play operating system is not ready for prime time if you buy this tv as a home theater center piece. Currently 5.1 audio is not supported thru the netflix or amazon video apps native to the tv. Gaming with a ps4 is "ok" lag seems higher than with the 850b I had before but I think I'm getting used to it so it's not as noticable as before. If you don't care about sound or gaming the tv picture is very good and sound from the tv speakers is acceptable. I would have given 4 stars if the tv apps work as I had expected but honestly I had no reason to think they would not support 5.1 this was a complete surprise and something to consider if you are going to be using a good soundbar or other surround system. I have been using the ps4 for netflix and amazon but am very disappointed that I can't use the tv apps because picture quality is better than the ps4. Also it seems the tv apps don't see the tv as 4k but will stream 2160p. Meaning I don't get the 4k menu from the google play apps. If your purchase is to use it as a home theater center beware.

great for gammers/movie fans
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After having the set for a week and tweeking the picture I am more than happy with this television. I coupled the set with the sony 4K upconverting bluray player and the picture is exceptional. Also the motion flow provides seemless picture even in the most action packed games for the PS4. See all the details youve never seen without any blur. The average TV show took a small boost in clarity from my 6 year old Sony LCD wiht a 240Hz refresh rate, but its the movies and games that really showed improvement.

Broke after 5 years
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this TV just over 5 years ago and now it won't turn on. The light just flashes red six times. Of course, my Geek squad warranty ended 3 months ago. I thought this would last a lot longer.

Great Quality and Interface
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally bought a Samsung 55" TV because it was cheaper. Well that was a mistake. I kept finding things to nitpick about the Samsung. Could never get the picture "just right". Design just seemed "off", huluplus app never worked right. It just didn't upconvert well. Brought it back to Best Buy and got this baby on sale. I am loving the new TV. Colors looked great out of the box to me. And the 4K upconverting is ON POINT. Sports and news look great. Excited to see others. 4K content looks great streamed from YouTube (haven't quite bitten the bullet to get Netflix 4K) and Amazon Prime looks great too. Excited for more and more 4K content to be put out so I can fully appreciate the picture. Android TV isn't for everyone, I get that. For me however (somewhat of a tech geek, and actually an iPhone user), the interface is great. Works well with my Logitech Harmony remote. Was awesome to be able to cast chrome tabs to the TV so my parents could see houses they were looking at on a big screen instead of their cell phone.

Great but not perfect. Still not the best for 1080
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: Outstanding 4k, and 4k upscaling (for most things, more on that later), fast Andriod TV interface, integrated Set-top box guide with the T.V guides/menus. Colors really pop. Plenty of connections. Cons: Horrible to watch basketball, remote is slow to change channels, the Guide switches off the sound for a second and then back on when the guide is displayed. Horrible out the box calibration and image quality. Viewing angle could be better Verdict: I very nice set that aside from the colors that pop out, doesn’t perform as well as my 2012 plasma while watching 1080p content. 4k content is a different story, the 4k content looked like the best 4k displays that you see at electronics stores displaying 4k videos. Even the best LED’s cannot fully trump a 2012 Plasma in all categories. Next T.V I’ll get will be an OLED. Anyone coming from a plasma TV? I would suggest you wait on OLED prices to drop. No current LED TV can fully replace a 2012+ plasma T.V’s. This T.V isn’t an exception. I’ll admit, the colors are somewhat more Vibrant with the Sony than my plasma, but the blacks and contrast is better with the plasma, The plasma also doesn’t display artifacts, areas that are dim are just smoothed out, while on the LED TV’s those edges are jagged. I did a lot of research and ended up getting this unit. When I first connected it the image quality was horrible. Looked cloudy and everything was blocky with artifacts all over everything. Went online and found plenty of settings to try, some were better than others. I ended up tweaking one of the settings from offline and was able to get a very nice 1080p picture. 1080p picture good enough for me to keep the unit. (No need to talk about 4k here, 4k is outstanding on this set). The issue that I have with LED TV’s is that they aren’t as good as plasma TV’s at doing blacks and contrast. And watching basketball on this T.V is horrible. No matter what I did, the court looks like I’m watching the game through slight fog, and the players are blocky and filled with artifacts. It looks terrible. I guess I could try to tune the T.V in order to make the basketball games look better, but that would be at the expense of everything else. I still have my plasma, I’ll watch basketball on that. Football was like that at first (prior to any tuning) but after I tuned the TV with the suggested online settings, football games looked great. And this is without using the “Football Game” mode. When I used the “Football Game” mode the picture looked even better. The viewing angle on this monitor could be better. Almost TN panel bad. You’ll be able to watch this T.V with a room full of people, but anyone that is say 4 feet away to the left or the right of the set, will not get the same images as those folks sitting in the center. And looking down from the top of the unit will also not show the best images. The remote? The remote is slow because it adds an additional layer and doesn’t talk directly to your TV. The TV has a dongle that you connect to the T.V and then place in front of your set-top box. When you change channels it does it through the T.V and then the dongle. The T.V’s remote will not work directly with my set top box without the dongle. So the signal coming from the remote isn’t your STB’s signal. It’s a Sony Signal that the T.V reads, and then the T.V sends the proper signal though the dongle to the STB box. It’s slow and when I pick up the remote that came with the STB, changing channels and everything seems more than twice as fast. The remote also doesn’t have a sleep button (you have to go through a sea of menus to turn on sleep).

Great price and quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV when my former Sony Bravia finally gave up the ghost. I knew I wanted to get a 4K set and I looked at numerous models. To stay within my budget, but still get the quality I wanted, the Sony XBR55X850C LED 4K Ultra HD TV definitely fit the bill. Picture quality is fantastic and the upscaling is terrific.

really pleased
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went there looking at a couple models, but the 55x850c really grabbed my attention. It has a great picture on regular 720/1080 HD channels. The 4K videos on the youtube app are amazing. Easy set up, easy stand installation, easy to figure out menus. Personally dont care about the 3D ability the tv has.

Love the Picture/Loathe the Software
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture is fantastic, though the software lacks in operating response and overall design. Smart TV continuously has a 'playback error (203)' with HULU (and only HULU). Home screen is not conducive to my viewing habits and offers no customization. Looking forward to Sony/Android offering more apps. Very disappointed that bluetooth only connects a mouse, no external speakers, phones, etc. are possible. Playstation Now is a nice feature, but limited catalog and TV can only connect 2 controllers. TV comes with a standard remote and a touchpad remote, though the touchpad remote was thoughtless with regards to ergonomics and is uncomfortable to hold, difficult to use. The TV is a pleasure to watch with good built-in sound. Hopefully, Sony will push a few software updates to remedy the major issues I have and gain their two additional stars.

excellent upgrade from 1080p
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally purchased the KDL55W800 1080p due to many articles stating that 4k was over rated etc. However I felt like the colors were not very vibrant and looked washed out. After reading some comparison reviews to this 4k I found out the panel was different and should be brighter and produce more colors. Its a HUGE improvement over the 1080p Sony. And another thing that was a huge improvement are the speakers in the 4k are 100% better than the 1080p model. I bought I sound bar when I returned the 1080p but I think I"ll return it as the speakers in this TV are fine. Plenty of volume and sound great. I got his on sale for $1200 and its a great buy for a 4k 55" tv in my opinion.

Great picture and features but weak internal sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the 55X850B in Feb. Overall, I am very satisfied with it. The picture is great. Hadn't seen any 4K until recently and it is outstanding. Even SD looks really good on this TV. Didn't know it did Wifi Direct until one of the grand kids cast his YouTube video to the TV when I was watching something else. The main thing I am not satisfied with is the sound from the internal speakers. The speakers are small and compared to my old DLP TV, it sounds dead. Working with the equalizer doesn't help much. I play the audio through my home system for about anything but the news. It's a minor issue but I wish the TV could use my generic Bluetooth keyboard. Works fine with the BT mouse.

good value for the money.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This set is fairly impressive for the money. It rendered Gravity beautifully on Blu-ray. The auto darkness controls have to be set to high to give the best black levels for the movie. With the proper settings, clouding and flashlighting are kept to a minimum. Some uniformity issues become apparent in movies but the affect does not diminish the overall experience too much. The Google Chrome Cast feature does not work on the set. A future Sony update may fix it. The screen mirror function does work with my Android phone but the casting feature does not work. This is sloppy work on Sony's part and should not be tolerated.

Smart TV with all features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well. This is an ultra hd TV. So I am not going to talk about pixel clarity etc. It was awesome as mentioned. The best part of the TV was its smart features easy to use setup and the highlight was the smart remote comparable to touch phone. It has a voice control as well. Design was so sleek. Overall it's a great buy.

This is the best tv at this price point!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We were planning on buying a 1080 p model to hold us over until 4k becomes more available. Dont....this tv with its processing power does a helluva job upconverting the 1080 p. The only other consideration is looking at the 65 inch model but thats another $600 dollars. The build quality and future proofing is definitely worth it with the x1 processor and triluminous colors and better build than the 810c. Spend the extra $200. Its worth it. Zero judder and 1080 p with ota broadcasts look phenominal.

No 3d Glasses???
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of the box, this Tv was everything I expected. The picture quality and loads of apps are out of this world. Only thing that bugged me was the time it took to update(hopefully that's a one time thing# another thing and this has me a bit ticked off, It came with No 3D Glasses. IN my room it was replacing Sony - 49" Class #48-1/2" Diag.) - LED - 2160p - Smart - 3D - 4K Ultra HD TV XBR49X850B- Black which is going in the living room so I'm going to hope that I can use those 3d glasses that came with that TV. I also have an older Sony 3D tv Sony BRAVIA LED-LCD KDL46HX800 46" 3D maybe this tv will work with those glasses too. Just for 1200 no 3D glasses has me SMH.

Great TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went into best buy and spoke with a man from Magnolia. And told him that I had bought a $600 Vizio on black Friday and he replied with goodluck. Basically saying that this TV is a P.O.S. Well, then, after this I had went home then did some research and it was true the man was right. The reviews were s&*t and that thsi TV with really only last about a year .SO long story short , i ordered it thru ebay and it got stolen off the Fedex truck on its way to my house. So i had gotten refunded and went back to Bestbuy and picked this up fro 1k!!! i couldnt say NO. yes i spent $400 more but its well worth it ! The TV is amazing. Just alittle confusing at first but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. Invest the money and you will be amazed!

Good TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having the Sony TV over the week instead of my LG 9100 TV was a change. I returned my 3rd LG TV last week and 3 LG TV's in one year with endless issues was enough for me. The Color of the Sony screen is pretty good. My LG was a little better with color contrast being back lit, which the Sony is not. The Sound from the TV is alright and needs a lot of improvement. I hooked it to my new Sony 5.1 Sound system with Sound Bar, Woofer and 2 satellite speakers and it is a disaster. I used the ARC HDMI port for the sound and it changes it to a 2:1 ratio when turning up the volume and I feel it is never enough. I could hook up the optical cable but I would have to use two remotes to work the entertainment portion of enjoying these products. There are other option modes to use which can help the sound but it is not perfect. The Music is always great with a TV show or a movie but when people speak it is very faint in some modes and it is a pain always picking a mode to work and not automatic. Turing up the volume to 100% is not practical just to hear what someone says in my house. I am trying to fine tune the sound, but I might have to be selective picking the TV vs the Soundbar with different media I play. The extra features are cool, but in order to access VUDU I have to use the other remote with the touch pad to find it and not the larger remote to get what I want. That goes for the google games to use my Sony Shock Control too. There is two remotes that come with TV. I am all Sony in my house now and I have 5 remotes, 2 for this TV, one for the BluRay Player, One for the Sound System and one for the Cable box which is not Sony. The pain part of it is, I have to use the cable box remote to get to the DVR, on the LG I never had to do that because they had that function on their all in one magic remote. VUDU, and other apps I have to either use the BluRay remote or the little TV remote to get access and not the Main TV remote which you would think would be on it. The sound I have to fiddle with two remotes which is a pain to get it to work. Sony should develop and all in one remote and eliminate remotes in general with their products. It would make practical sense. The ports are hard to access in the very back being wall mounted and I have to use my wife's makeup mirror to see where I have to stick a wire to play with the game system or if I have to hook up the old VCR to watch something. There are USB and some HDMI ports on the side to get too for the cable box and the BluRay or DVD player, but that is it. That is my 2 cents. If anyone has ideas to help me with my problem, please help me and comment. Thanks
