Great tv
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Started off with LG 60 and was very disappointed! Then I took it back and got a sony 810 4k and it was damaged. then took that back and got a sony 850c for a great price. WOW! this tv is great. I recommend this tv for around the 1000.00 mark. Better than samsung,LG and all the rest by far! No shuttering,no blur and great color options along with all the important outlets including optical. easy set up. very happy with this purchase.

Great TV for the price Incredible picture
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought this tv was good for the price and has an awesome picture for an Edge lit display which if I had done my research if you want the best you gotta have full array otherwise when ur watching movies or tv shows with dark scenes in them they appear pixelated when watching anything under 1080p for some reason but if you pop in a DVD it goes away and looks good but if you pop in a Blu-ray it looks freaking awesome and no pixelation and mind blowing realism for some reason wish someone would care to explain why is is??????

Great 4K and Color for Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Once properly calibrated, the colors and PQ on this TV are unbelievable. At least on my panel, there is minor flashlighting and clouding around the edges, but it is only really noticeable on totally White, Gray, or Black screens. That is literally my only gripe- to have gotten a brand new, 2015, 55" 4K Sony for under $1600 is a no-brainer. Especially, when the picture inspires so many "Ooo's" and "Ahhh's." If you have the money to step up to a a Full Array Local Dimming (FALD) set, obviously get it. But this is by far the most uniform edge lit TV I have seen to date and the crew over at rtings.com supports that!

Best entry level 4K
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After doing tons of research, I finally settled on the 850C. Even though there is a cheaper model (810C) i chose the 850 because It has HDR!!! HDR is becoming the next big thing with 4K televisions, unless if you buy LG you get OLED 4K (too expensive). After I began to understand HDR , I settled on this. HDR content is scarce right now, but more will be coming. So whether you decide to buy this particular model or their new D models or another brand, get one that comes with HDR. The Android operating system was also a seller for me too. The 850c is also 3D compatible. It uses active 3D tech. It doesn't come with glasses so you will have to make a separate purchase of around $50. As for the picture, top notch!!! The processor will upconvert 1080i and 1080p to 4k or near 4K. 4K content like HDR is scarce but sites like amazon , netflix and youtube do have some. More is coming now that 4K blu-rays and players are slowly being introduced to stores. So before you purchase a 4K TV, do alot of research. But I will say get one that has HDR.

a good solid TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV to be a direct replacement for my LG Google TV, the picture is worlds better, it syncs with Directv and my Onkyo home Theater without pause or drama, it has most of the google play store available with the only exception that i've found being movies by Flixster, so i can't load most of my saved movies into the TV directly,i have to google cast them which i have yet to try, so, far my only other gripe is that it won't mirror cast with my Samsung S5 which isn't a deal breaker in the least as the phone is about to be replaced

Great Upgrade!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV to replace a 43 inch 1080p TV. After reading many reviews, I knew this was the TV for me. I am very happy with my purchase. The only thing I wish was a little better is the 3D technology. I had actually bought the 55 x900c, and was highly impressed with the 3D, but the x900c suffers from substantial light bleed. On this model, you need active 3D glasses and it seems it isn’t as good at the x900c, BUT there is no light bleed which I am very happy with. Overall, I am so much happier with this model and would definitely recommend to anyone else.

Best purchase ever.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wasn't shopping for a 4k TV, I was more interested in Google TV, and I went there for a device that I can connect to my TV that will deliver me some Google. Then I saw a Sharp TV with Google, so I thought maybe I should just buy one which will give me everything I want, but sadly Sharp has the most returned TVs and LG. I went for Samsung and the Google box. I bought the latest Samsung 55 inch TV. It looked amazing in store, best display compared to any. I prefer Sony TVs generally, but the 4k videos tbey plah on store does not give enough credit as this TV deserves. Next day I returned Samsung 4k TV, while it looked great in store, at home it looked horrible, not even close to 4k display, plus it was leaking light from 4 areas. Blacks looked patchy and mostly gray. So I decided to pay a bit more and go with a brand that I have always trusted. While my portable devices are Samsung, I'm glad I opted out to go with this Sony. Ask a sales person to play other 4k videos for you and they can easily do. I'm very I to technology, so I've had or tried most. Trust me on this, this TV is absolutely amazing. Vizio also looks great and you get a lot more for your money, but way too many years people complaining that the screen stopped working within few months of purchase.

Fabulous TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We love the TV, the only issue we had was when we did the setup. The instructions are minimal. Fortunately we had a wireless keyboard, I don't know how setup can be completed without one. We love SONY products, once the install was complete, the picture is great. There are lots of cautions about touching the screen which concerns me long term. The implications is that you can damage the screen is you touch it with your fingers. We did our own install. If Best Buy had done the install, I don't believe any of these would be issues.

Proud owner of 850B & C
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'd had my 850B for about 7 months, then the C line up came out and it was love at first sight. I feel like Sony addressed all the things I disliked about my 850B, and improved them 10 Fold. And it got even better since I had Geek Squad come out and calibrate it for me. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED only thing I will ever give 5 out of 5.

Best Tv I've ever had
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this tv to get ready for4k Uhd blu ray. Coming from a solid 2 yr old 50" Vizio tv, I was ready for 4k. When i first hookedthis tv up i HATED it. Could not get the picture to look good at all. Was seriously considering returning it. But once I got the calibrations right, holy cow. What a beauty the tv gives on the picture. 4k upscaling on Blu Rays is phenomenal. Already preordered Samsung 4k blu ray player and two UHD Blu rays. Cant wait to see what the pucture will look like!

Excellent TV for Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV is great. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars, is due to the fact that the TV remote and controls in general can be very confusing to the rookie, non-electronic person. Also, the sound is somewhat average for a SONY, so I recommend a sound bar. Otherwise, picture is excellent and set up was simple. I am still trying to figure out the 3D picture with the 3D glasses!!!

Excellent TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this TV for a few weeks now, and still am happy that I made the purchase. It has a great picture, decent sound, and features only included on TVs that cost $500 more. Android TV is a great OS, and the built-in Google Cast feature is very cool. I cannot recommend this TV enough. If you are looking for a 4K TV that won't break the bank, this is the way to go.

Excellent TV, Great Value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When the price for the 55" model (XBR-55X850C) dropped to $1099, this became a must buy for me. The Best Buy sales person was knowledgeable and helpful. The TV has a fantastic picture and I couldn't be happier with the quality. The calibration is not for the faint of heart, but you can see the changes as you make them to make it easier. The blacks are very black and the colors pop. We use the TV for movies, sports, cable TV, and Netflix. The additional apps through the smart OS (Google/Android) are useful and plentiful. Amazon Video is included along with a capable browser. It was easy to mirror my smartphone (Samsung Galaxy Note 5) using the Miracast feature. We may spring for a soundbar eventually, but the sound quality is adequate and volume is good. We called Sony tech support once for a question about Google Play. The call was answered promptly and the support person was friendly and very helpful. This is my first Sony purchase and I am extremely happy with the entire experience. Thank you Best Buy and Sony.

Crackle keeps coming on
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this TV on 6/15/15. While watching the TV, "Crackle" kept coming on. Best Buy folks came twice, could not resolve. Replacement TV delivered 6/26/15. Today, 7/ 7/15, again, Crackle keeps coming on while watching TV or a DVR recording. How do I disable this??? Absolutely love the TV and picture, but the Crackle interruptions will cause a return soon.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.bought this tv in Oct 2015 and it has a lot of nice features xbr55x850c,and a great picture..But,it's advertised as having picture in picture but it doesn't have that. Oh Sony promises it's coming, but when. How do you advertise a feature and not provide it? I think it's called false advertising.I bought it in good faith but I got duped.Shame on Sony.

Great TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this TV about 2 weeks ago and so far I think my money was well spent. The picture is great, but doesn't blow me away. Perhaps thats because I haven't tried any 4k content yet. I've watched a few BluRay movies on this tv so far and they looked great, but I was expecting a little more. I give this TV a 9/10. No complaints so far

No documentation
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.1. Best Buy is awesome! They took care of a plasma that died after 2 year, and replaced it with this one(get the service contract) 2. The picture is great! The sound is terrific. That said, let's talk about how to get into 3D TV, use the settings, configure inputs, etc. Their is almost nothing on in the manual, except how to connect. In fact, their is more in the manual on how to mount than how to use. If you want to use 3D, you need to purchase their glasses (which part number is difficult to find). You can find the part number and how to use when you access the help feature next to the settings (be sure to have a internet connection, it goes to Sony's site). So much for 4k. Except for the description, you wouldn't know it supports 4k. The built in apps could be better, but I don't care about them. Once the 3d glasses arrive, I may need to edit this review. Until then, good luck finding documentation.
