Beware of issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received this TV. Updated software. TV worked for 4 hours then died. It would not respond. Just keep loading then freeze then restart. Same thing over and over. Sony customer support was zero help. Literally had to call back over 10 times. So disappointing. So frustrating. I love Sony products. I accept I may have gotten a dud. Just so disappointing.

Buy the Samsung 4k
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.After much deliberation I bought the Sony based on strong suggestions from multiple Best Buy employees. Their heart was in the right place, but this TV is just not ready yet. * TV does not have NetFlix capabilities as of 5/25/15. Sony is upgrading their apps, but it's a big disappointment to get home and learn that fact when there is already limited 4k options available. * Significant sound issues with Xbox 1. Had to repeatedly plug and unplug HDMI cables to get sound to work temporarily. Example... In Mortal Combat and COD, Background sounds worked but no character sounds or voices. My son needed to unplug and plug back in every time he played his games to get the sound to work. Sound worked fine on my old TV when we tried to problem solve. * Major lip Sync issues where the sound and picture didn't match up. Looked at the Sony forums and it appears this is a wide ranging issue with this unit. Net-net...Brought this TV back, picked up the Samsung 55 Curved 4k for $300 LESS and it was set up and working perfectly in 5 minutes. Great picture, sound and component integration. Save your money and time and go get the Samsung until Sony remedies these glitches.

Terrible customer service

I called Sony 3 times and got no useful help. Hulu won't work and they tell ,e to wait for the download. It's been 4 hours. My connection tests 40+Mbps next to the tv so. Don't buy Sony. Buy Samsung they care about their customers. Sony doesn't give any concern to their customers at all

Firmware Upgrade Ruins 3D on All Sony Android TV's
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Since the 11/24/15 Firmware upgrade, the 3D on the TV is worthless. Since the update, every time you watch a 3D Movie, a black box on the lower left side of the screen keeps randomly displaying "Wide Screen Full" It goes on and off constantly during the movie (about every 5 to 15 seconds). This is happening on all 3D-TV's that have the Android software. The Sony Community Forum has numerous complaints about this (under "WIDE MODE:FULL keeps randomly popping up"), but Sony has done nothing about it. If you call them, most of their reps have no idea it's happening, and the few that do, have no answers. I am writing this review to warn potential buyers of ANY Android TV, to hold off until this is fixed. Once it's fixed (if ever), I will take this review down. Until then, buyer beware.

Doesn't play well with others
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently purchased this TV and packaged it with a Sony HTNT3 2.1 channel sound bar, and unfortunately the two don't like communicating with each other. The TV and sound bar are placed in our basement, and are primarily used on the weekends. I'm not sure what the problem is, but, when I go to turn the TV on, the sound bar turns on automatically; however, the sound bar sits in a "Please Wait" for a lengthy amount of time and never switches over to produce any sound. I've timed on multiple occasions now, and waste anywhere from 10-15 minutes waiting on the sound bar to create sound. I have a Panasonic TV and an LG sound bar in another room, and when I turn the TV on then sound bar turns on automatically with no issues. It blows my mind that two of the same products don't work well together, and unfortunately we were not informed of this mishap when we purchased these items. The Sony TV and sound bar are good products, just not together or on the same system.

Was good... Until it wasn't.

Within a year, it developed a red line right down the middle of the screen. I had to replace it under warranty. Second set. Great. Amazing. Awesome 4k image. Within 2 years, the TV now just shuts off at random times... And I get 6 blinking red lights. Over and over. Until I unplug and plug it back in... It's ongoing. Called Sony... They said it's outside warranty now so unless I want to pay for a repair... Which is almost the value of the tv now, it's pretty much junk. I was expecting a longer lasting set. This may be the last Sony I purchase at this point.

HDMI Port not working

However, I bought this unit three days ago and set it up myself in our basement. My kids were excited because I don't allow them to connect the XBOX to the existing system but using a projector. To my surprise, the HDMI timeout after a few minutes and asking me to 'check the connection or signal source'. I am 100% sure that there is good signal since the video comes out perfectly from my 1080P projector. Now after late research, there has been a lot of cases out where buyers experienced intermittent signal loss using Samsung TV. My first LED TV is a Samsung and other than the unit forgetting my Wi-Fi connection all the time, it seem to be working fine. I will return this and buy another TV of a different brand with similar feature.

Great TV - no 4k content

I also noted a difference with Apple TV, which looks significantly smoother. Big problem - there are no 4k apps available - amazon nor netflix. Very disappointing and needs to be fixed immediately.

DO NOT BUY THIS TV

This is just to hear it dialogue well. Also, don't count on being able to use the apps such as Netflix and Amazon. They have to be updated, but there is apparently no way to do it. I called support. A recorded message told me to call an after hours support number (I don't know why it couldn't just transfer me) and then the customer service rep had about 20 questions for me. One of them included the exact date that I bought the TV. This is the last Sony product I buy, and the last time I use the Magnolia people for a recommendation. I will stick with a Samsung next time. I've honestly never been so frustrated or disappointed in a purchase.

Worst experience I have had with a TV

It has been in repair for over 2 weeks already . I called Sony, they did not help . And best buy has no idea when I will get it back. I'm stuck without a TV and with no help . Just a lot of back and forth and frustrating phone conversation with people that have no answers .

Picture Quality with the lifespan of a moth!

Seems I watched a 4K magic show for 4 days on this tv and NOW with the terrible picture quality it seems I'm back to the 80's. Useless piece of junk for $1600. What gives? Sony is making up for their past losses with this new 4k android tv gimmick.

I wanted us to work...

The hardware was beautiful and the touch remote was a fantastic step in the right direction...but the Android interface was NOT a pleasurable experience in the slightest. It had so much potential, but in the end, it was a buggy and half-baked mess that made the TV unusable. Google Voice Search was horrific. It was so bad that Siri sat in the corner laughing her a** off. The interface tried to recommend content but kept crashing the TV--and you cannot turn that "feature" off! Maybe the TV wanted me to read more--I don't know. Either way, for as much money as I spent on this TV it should've been a lot better.

Had to return two separate tvs!

Best Buy exchanged it for me, I received the replacement, brand new out of the box, plugged it in only to count 6 dead pixels on the screen. Even the display models at my local best buy had the same problem. Sony must've had a bad run of these and I got two of them. I Exchanged the Sony for the Samsung JS8500 which I'm liking much more overall.
