Great picture, some quirks with OS
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, let me be clear, the picture quality is amazing. The upscaling of cable programs was clear and bright and the 4K programs on Amazon were stunningly clear. The problem I had is with the android operating system. I could not get the voice search to work, navigating the home screen and trying to set sleep timer was cumbersome. The documentation that comes with the TV is only for configuring the TV - plugging in cables and such. There is no documentation on the Android OS that explains the configuration or how to customize home page with frequently used apps and options handy. I also looked online, and could only find the same TV setup docs from Sony. I guess they figure Google is responsible for documentation on Android TV OS. I had a problem several times with the STB audio continuing to play after I had started the Amazon app so could not play a movie there without manually changing input source first. Also, the Amazon app doesn't support Amazon Music, so looks like I'd need to keep Fire device to access that. There was also a problem connecting to the Amazon app for a couple days. You may want to check up on the status of the argument between Amazon and Google since it looks like Amazon has started dropping app support for many Android devices. This can be important if you are looking for native app support to get to Amazon prime 4K videos.

Excellent mid-level 4K set.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Superb first 4K set. Sony quality abounds with an excellent picture, easy setup and interface, good sound, and ample peripheral attachments. Color is sharp, clear and as natural as you can find at this price point. Some issues exist with the wifi capability, but the overall experience is excellent. I highly recommend this set for someone looking to enter the 4K market.

Awesome midrange 4k
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this tv. I just bought it a few days ago and I couldn't be happier. The color is awesome, upscaling is great, clarity is just how you would expect it to be, and the fact that it runs android os is pretty cool too. I love the touch remote it comes with. It makes navigating the tv very easy.

Excellent hi def TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Recommended by store salesperson, and we are very pleased with the clarity, depth, contrast and ease of operation. This unit is consistent with the other Sony TV units we have had - a little pricey, but oh so worth it!

Awesome TV!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picture quality is the best I have seen in a while. Android is a major plus. No blur while watching sports. You don't even need cable with this TV because of all the TV apps that are available.

Incredible Picture
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went to Best Buy to pick out a new 4K TV after my Plasma died from a lightning strike. You can read all the reviews you want online and it will give you an idea of what you might want, but to actually see the pictures on these TVs in person will help you make your decision. I was deciding between Sony and Samsung. The Sony TV for me seemed to be a much higher quality over the Samsung for virtually the same price. So I decided on Sony and after working with the Best Buy associate, who showed me the different models and side by sides of the pictures and setting options, I decided on the 850C. I'll tell you that the picture is as amazing at home as it was at the store. Even running HD through XFinity you could tell the TVs pixels make the picture amazing! Streaming Netflix documentary programs and nature programs look like 4K, maybe it is, but it is just incredible. I've had the TV for two months and have no complaints and would be happy to recommend it to a friend looking for a new 4K UHD.

Great TV for the price!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best LED TV that I have seen for under $2k. There is very little light bleed from the sides, even in very dark scenes. Without a ton of 4K content out there, yet, the upscaling is decent on most 720 and 1080 content. Sports look amazing on this screen, too. I'd purchase this TV again and would advise a budget conscious buyer to at least check it out and compare to other models in a higher price range, because it holds its own.

Super crisp
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Omg! What an amazing tv super crisp picture at all times. Still haven't seen the 3D yet but super excited after i order my glasses. Immidiately compatible with other Sony products. Ps4 and sound bar linked right up no problem without prompting. The sound on the tv itself is actually better than any other Sony tv I've heard. Good job Sony.

Great Picture and Features
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Sony 55 4K television is a solid performer. My wife was skeptical of 4K television, but after seeing the Sony with movies and travel scenery, she stopped being skeptical. Sony makes features easy to access and picture quality is excellent. I would recommend this TV for those who want great quality at a reasonable price.

Great Picture
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have a couple higher end Sony TVs and they have been great. Went with 4K on this one, and even though we don't have 4K content yet, the HD is much sharper than our other TVs. I was surprised at that. This one is also 3D, but it is active so the glasses need charged. Prefer the passive TV as the 3D seems to be better to us and the glasses costs 20% of the actives, are much lighter and don't need charging.

Great Hardware, middling software
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.+ Great upscaling + very good picture quality + great looking piece of hardware, very thin - The OS is still not up to par, e.g. Netflix still cannot stream 4k content - Sound is a little underwhelming Conclusion If you're ready to overlook the current state the OS is in, you will get a good TV that will only get better with time.

Great picture on a affordable Ultra 4K TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had this TV for about a month now and we're into the normal working life. The picture is excellent and is quite an upgrade from my 1080P DLP Samsung. Picture stands up to sunlight during the brief period where sun shines in. The online features are nice, but we haven't quite gotten into a routine to use them yet. I have tested videos from Amazon Prime and YouTube through the built-in apps and they look spectacular. YouTube has a number of 4K videos you can use to test that functionality where you don't have your own 4K source. Setup was straightforward, but the onscreen keyboard was cumbersome to enter a lengthy WiFi password. The number of inputs is great although I've used a receiver to channel most of the video inputs through it. The audio return channel (ARC) feature is a great way to pipe the audio sound from the TV to the receiver through HDMI when using the built-in video inputs. I have not used the 3D functions on this TV. No glasses were provided in the package and it wasn't a major purchase requirement. On sale, can be had for a little over $1000 as of late 2015

Beautiful color
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have a smaller Sony TV and have always been impressed with the clarity and color. This one did not disappoint! There are 2 negatives however, it seems to have quite a screen glare during the daytime if the room isn't dark and the viewing angle from the side is not good.

Best TV I've ever seen
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did not go in looking for a new TV. However when I saw this paired with the Sony sound bar I couldn't believe the picture and sound. Even though I was not looking at 4K signals, the upscale ability is indescribable. I can't wait for the 4K broadcasts to begin. I can't see how they will ever improve upon that.

Good value mid-level 4k Ultra HD TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having owned the 55" version for about 2 months, we are very happy with our purchase. PROS: TV has a great picture and decent sound (except for Apple TV movie viewing sound, but that is on Apple). Enjoying the Android TV OS. We primarily watch streamed content with a direct connection to our router and it has outstanding performance and speed. Like the additional touch pad remote included with the TV. CONS: One thing we do not like is the location of the IR sensor on the TV. It is at the bottom middle and we are unable to use our sound bar because it blocks the IR remote sensor for the TV. Problem would be solved by mounting the TV on the wall, but we shouldn't have to that. Navigation of menus is a bit clunky and difficult to get used to and certainly could be more intuitive. But you get used to it. FYI: Does take a while to update (30-60 mins), but at least they are making improvements and enhancements. BOTTOM LINE: Even though we spend about $500 more on this TV than we planned on, we are happy with our decision and are enjoying the product.

A solid TV with minor quibbles
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV was at exactly the price:performance sweet spot for me and it has worked out very well. It is a 4k TV with the ability to output 60Hz at 4:4:4 chroma which makes it useful as both a TV and a computer monitor, which I use it for. Make sure to update the TV to the latest firmware in order to get the best quality picture! My only quibble is that sometimes the TV interface is very slow and I have to reboot (unplug and plug back in) it in order to get it back to normal. It would be nice if they could release a software fix for this! There are also no buttons on the TV itself, you have to use the remote. All in all a great TV for the price!
