Customers are saying

Customers recognize the 55" Class 4K Ultra HD TV's exceptional picture quality, vibrant colors, and ease of use. Many appreciate the 3D capabilities and the effective upscaling of lower-resolution content. However, some users find the remote control somewhat difficult to use, and a few have noted concerns about input lag for gaming. While some consider the price point high, the overall positive feedback highlights the TV's strong performance in key areas.

SDR looks great, HDR suffers from blooming

First TV purchase in several years, replacing a 50" LG plasma. Very happy with the "True Cinema" motion settings -- no issues with Soap Opera Effect and handles 24p content quite nicely. I'm not as sensitive to color calibration but the "Cinema home" setting looked just fine out of the box to me. I upgraded my Netflix account to stream HDR content and that's where things got a little tricky. The TV detects HDR and automatically switches into a mode where the local dimming and x-tended dynamic range settings are fixed. I expect that this is done so that the TV can support the overall contrast range required for HDR, but to my eye this results in too much blooming and too much scene-to-scene variation in brightness. If a character moves in front a light in the background the whole scene will change quite a bit. I find it's distracting. My experience matches up with this Redditor's: https://www.reddit.com/r/bravia/comments/54z5le/is_there_a_way_to_reduce_blooming_on_xd93x930d/ I've heard a rumor that the Android TV 6.0 upgrade will allow for some further customization in this area. Personally I'd be quite OK with some reduced dynamic range in exchange for more consistent lighting. Finally, this is a VA panel which means the viewing angle is not awesome. Mostly noticeable on HDR content for me. Not a huge issue but I do find myself sitting front and center more than I had been in the past with the plasma. Overall happy with the purchase but I do think I'll be keeping a close eye on OLED sets over the next few years.

Geek squad came to my house after I reported a problem with my Sony Smart, 3D, TV. The tech was very nice and said my TV would be replaced under my warranty. Communication was very professional. When I went to replace the TV at Owasso Best Buy, the Geek Squad agent and his manager were very nice and professional. The Sony TV itself was even better than the Sony TV I had. The picture is much better than any TV I've ever watched, especially my parent's Zenith round screen TV that I watched Howdy Dooty on.

We've had this TV for four weeks now and love it. The colors are bright and beautiful and the smart features are way faster and better than the 2015 model we also own. The switch to android was a great move. We have the TV mounted and paired it with a sonos play bar. The TV does pass 5.1 surround sound from the digital input from all sources.

MY 55" Sony lives up to the Sony reputation of being a top rated product that lives up to my standards. Along with changing my sattelite dish, we now have HD channels and they are as clear and colorfull as can be. And the icing for us was that Best Buy had it on sale that weekend and we saved a couple hundred dollars and we utilized my Best Buy credit card to get 18 momths no interest same as cash.

I compared this TV to the SAMSUNG SUHD and I have to say that the picture on this is so much better. I stood in their demo room with the exact same size TVs from the same vantage point and watched the demos with the sales associate... the SAMSUNG was almost too sharp and saw too many pixelations when smoothing should occur. This TV (I've always had Sony TVs - last was a 50 in WEGA) is awesome and can see from any angle - totally love it and for the price and size it was great.

Bought the 55" inch model. Picture looks great, 4K is great. Here is the problem this TV has, the 3D is not great. I'm using the Sony tdg-bt500a active shutter glasses(I spent $100 on 2 pairs). I think it's called cross talk. No matter what I do in 3D settings I still see a dual image effect around edges of objects or people. I heard the issue was only with the 65" inch model but it seems to be an issue with this model too. Gonna call Sony and see what they say. I might exchange this TV and see if maybe the one I have is defective. I would give it 5 stars but the 3D is not working how it should should.

I have three Sony 4K TVs, a 65X810C, this 55X930D, and a 65X950B. The 930D is the newest TV and probably the nicest physically looking out of the bunch. Though my 950B is technically better in terms of FALD, it's not very noticeable. The 930D is a wonderful TV for a bedroom, especially at the 55 in size. For such a thin tv, the black levels are amazing, significantly better than my 810C. I would recommend this TV for anyone. The Android TV UI is untouched and fast.

I exchanged my 55 inch television for a 65 inch Sony television. Michael K. who was our installer recommended that model because he felt that we had the space and it would fill our family room, He was right. Michael K. was easy to talk to and his communicate skills to us were excellent. We are very pleased with the picture quality of this set. Michael K. made the installation experience very comfortable. He is very knowledgable about the products we bought.

This product has a great picture for movies. As far as TV goes, it is hard to judge as we need to update DirectTV with HDMI capabilities. Also, the speakers could produce a little more volume. Our family loves the SmartTV capability, especially with High Speed WIFI. Also, we enjoy the voice activation feature, especially when using it to browse online. All in all, great features.

I read a lot of reviews before settling on this model. I had an old DLP TV that died, and the difference between the two was stunning. The voice remote I thought was a bit of a novelty, but I do now use it regularly to quickly find stuff on YouTube. Very pleased with the TV. The Power supply is a separate box though, so you need somewhere to hide it, if wall mounting.

Started with a Vizio p-55", blacks were nice, but colors were not amazing for a 4K, so I returned it. Needed to spent a little more money, I wanted more WOW. So, tried Samsung, but it ended up not much better IMO, ...but with the Sony 930D (tho its being discontinued, GREAT TV), it is MUCH better, WOW colors and sharp... (850D not so good). I needed to put a VIZIO soundbar on it, and got what I was expecting for about twice the money, but worth it !!
