A Lot of Features - But They Do Not All Work

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a very annoying issue: The eArc does not work with the Sony STR-DH770 receiver but it is supposed to. When I try to connect, the TV lists all the supported devices and that specific receiver model is on the list. It should, work but does not. It's not the cable (which is new) nor the receiver, it's the TV. Sony's advice via chat was to rebuild my stereo cabinet so i could move it a bit closer to the TV. They also had me reset factory setting on the TV - which will cost you almost a full day to set it up again (downloading and logging in to all the apps, etc.) Or you can return it and get a different brand TV that works as it is supposed to.

Sounds Keeps cutting out.

But having to unplug and plug back in the TV several times a week so that audio works for various apps and Bluetooth headphones is not acceptable. A quick internet search on this issue will give you several hits, so this is not just a problem with my tv. My last 4 TV's have been LG and when I return this TV, I will be getting an LG.

We regret to hear that you are having a sound and Bluetooth headphones issue with your Sony Bravia TV. This is usually not the case with our premium TVs. If the unit is still with you, we can isolate the issue by performing troubleshooting steps. If the issue occurs only with certain apps, please make sure these apps are updated. You may also set the Google Play Store Auto update app to ON so all of your apps will be updated once there are updates. Your TV should be updated as well. Make sure Software Auto update is set to ON (for future software updates). On the supplied remote, press the Help button > Select System software update, and make sure "Automatically check for update" is set to ON.
Your A8H supports the A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) Bluetooth profile. We have certain Sony Bluetooth headphones that are tested and compatible with A8H. Other Bluetooth headphones that support A2DP may work with your TV. However, we don't guarantee its operation. Not as clear as old tv

Maybe the Sony will lasted longer . It was more expensive but picture quality is not as good and too dark.

Page 6 of your reference guide of the TV manual notes that the screen brightness is automatically reduced when displaying still images, clocks, bright colors or logos. This is to protect the longevity of your TV from image retention.
There are also additional settings that can be turned on to enhance the brightness of the TV.

Organic EL displays (OLED) may experience image retention if an image is continuously displayed for a long period of time or the same image is repeatedly displayed. This is due to the characteristics of the materials used to achieve high-definition imaging. To protect your TV screen, avoid using images that may cause image retention. Disappointing Sound

The updated firmware for your Bravia is v6.5042. If your TV is outdated, you can update its firmware using a USB drive or the "Automatically check for update" function of the TV: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/oled-tvs-android-a8x_a8h-series/xbr-55a8h/downloads/00017155. When using the "Automatically check for update" function, make sure you have an active and reliable internet connection.

I am not happy

We always recommend updating the firmware of the TV to resolve any possible software-related issues with the unit. The software update also improves the general performance of the TV. Two Bad TVs

It turned on and off by itself or wouldn’t turn on and eventually had a distorted image. After working on it for a while, Geek Squad replaced it with a new TV of the same model. We should have chosen a different brand because a year after getting the second TV, it’s starting to do the same things. As I was writing this, it randomly shut off. We will not get Sony Bravia again even though we like the TV otherwise.

Got it set up and two days later noticed major image retention that must have occurred during initial setup. Now I’m stuck with a tv that has major burn-in because Sony claims it’s my fault and Best Buy says it’s Sony’s problem. Truly unbelievable, but this will be the last purchase I make from Best Buy or Sony (and I’ve purchased 2 oleds and a premium Qled just this year.
