Good TV but falls short for PC gaming.

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The TV in Most overall respects is decent for the price, however it suffers in 2 major categories, the first an issue I had with the 2017 model in that the hardware is still not sufficient for the "smart" portion of this model, slow sometimes unresponsive with Google TV and streaming apps. The second being the main reason I purchased this unit due to the advertised 120hz VRR, this model can handle 120hz content however once VRR is involved it turns into a flickering mess since the LED back lighting cannot keep up with my GPU refresh rate, also insert the black screen mid game due to this issue. Overall for $999 this TV could use a bit more power for the "smart" side of things but is not a deal breaker, the picture quality is superb with HDR and Dolby Vision however I believe Sony should remove the VRR functionality at this price point since it is basically useless if the display cannot handle it.

The Panel refresh rate of this TV is 120 Hz and this TV supports the features that are specified in the HDMI 2.1 standard such as 4K120, eARC/ARC, VRR and ALLM. With HDMI 2.1, you can get an up-to-120fps framerate on compatible games, so you can take on any challenge in shooting, sports and high-performance games with near instant on-screen action. You’ll also enjoy ultra-smooth gaming with reduced input lag of 8.5 ms with 4K/120fps and dedicated Game Mode.
Make sure your device is connected to the HDMI 3 or HDMI 4 input on the TV using the supplied Certified Premium HDMI cable. To set the TV HDMI® Signal format to Enhanced format for your source device to recognize the 4K 120Hz capability of the TV and other features.
Select Settings → Watching TV → External inputs → HDMI signal format.
Select the input that the device is connected to (either HDMI 3 or HDMI 4), and then change the setting to Enhanced format.
Note: Do not choose Enhanced format (Dolby Vision). Please ensure your TV has the latest firmware installed by going to Help > System Software Update > Software Update.
