Great TV, but Subwoofer does not work
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I also purchased a Sony sound bar and subwoofer. The subwoofer does not work. I paid for an BB agent to come to my home and check it, but it still does not work!

Nice but not the best sound
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound quality is not the best for the price that was paid. I do not want to purchase an additional item like a sound bar to make up for the sound.

Didn’t live up to the hype
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this tv on Black Friday after extensive research online. It seemed to b the best bang for ur buck. Turns out it doesn’t live up to all the hype. The tv Had sound issues from day one. As other reviewers said it had a crackling and popping sound when changing channels or inputs. Not something u expect from a brand new Sony. The tv had great color but the picture was blurry. No matter the source I was watching. So I found myself constantly playing with the settings and not watching the tv only to still b disappointed when I was done. Decided to finally return this tv and had a bad taste for a Sony. So I got the Samsung 55mu8000 and it’s a way nicer tv. Way smarter than the Sony and in my opinion a better picture. If ur having the same problems I had return it and get a Samsung u will b happy u did

Great picture. Back to Sony
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my third Sony television. My first HDTV was a Sony Trinitron. Then I got a Sony rear-projection HDTV but had a poor experience with that. So I bought a Samsung LCD after that. For about 8 years, the Samsung has worked perfectly but I was looking to upgrade to something newer and slightly bigger. I figured that I would end up with another Samsung, or possibly the LG OLED. After a comparison at the store with the Samsung QLED and Sony, I preferred the picture on the Sony. Samsung was bright, but I didn't like how it seem to wash out some of the detail compared to the Sony. As for the LG OLED, I couldn't get a side-by-side with that, but while I found the LG to be slightly better picture, in no way I thought it was worth the price difference of the Sony. Both have really deep contrast/blacks, but the OLED seemed to bring out slightly more detail. A concern with the LG is that it is a lower end OLED, which means it may be susceptible to issues later on. Large OLED screens are still relatively young tech for mass production scale. What I like about the XBR 55X900E: Great picture with what seems like near OLED black. 4K looks amazing. Little to no reflection or glare in direct sunlight. What I don't like: Google Android system. There was a setup page with no option to decline the agreement. I don't even know what I was agreeing to. Overall interface is a bit sluggish. Remote feel cheap.

Died after 15 months
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was alright until it started showing horizontal lines today. Sony customer care wasn't of much help. They asked to contact best buy for repair. Since these TVs are thin, it is impossible to repair and should now be thrown out. Bad QA. Avoid or get a really long extended warranty.

Very good 55" LED Sony TV for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After reviewing the many reviews and many websites for the Sony XBR55x900E TV being one of the best mid-range TV's for 2017.... I purchased mine a little over a week ago and find the Sony TV so excellent and with such a bright and clear picture with such great blacks and motion so good that watching NHL hockey games and seeing the puck all the time is so much more enjoyable. I had read some of the reviews that complained about the remote being slow. I do not find that at all. The remote is good and it allows me to control my Comcast X1. I do feel the remotes button's would be better suited if the channel numbers were on the bottom of the remote and Volume and Pause, Play, FF, FR were on the top since they are the most frequently used buttons it would make the experience better this way. As for sound, I think the sound is good, but as always, I use a Receiver/Amp with four speakers as my choice. I use the PCM Optical port of the Sony TV to an Insignia Optical to RCA converter to an older Sony Receiver/Amp. The sound is very good with this arrangement and I am very pleased. Note: you can only Mute the sound of this arrangement with the remote. You can set up the TV to use both speakers and the PCM optical output and control the speaker volume with the remote but not the Optical sound level. The remotes Mute will mute the sound of both TV and Optical output volume. Love being able to, via this Sony TV, watch movies directly via WiFi from Amazon Prime and with great color and clarity and perfect streaming with no hickups or sound issues. I have not explored all the other apps like Netflix or Hulu or others. The voice remote feature is very nice and like the newer Comcast X1. An advantage to shopping TVs and other technical products at Best Buy say vs online discounters and other big box dept stores is you can ask questions of the sales people at Best Buy and get good technical answers and the differences of the different model types and technologies. My sales person was so helpful with me finding the best TV for my experience and price point I was willing to spend. They also pointed me to the Insignia Optical to RCA audio converter. Since Sony does Fair Market Pricing and all of the dealers must sell at their Prices they update frequently you have no reason to shop around and since you can get great technical answers and info from Best Buy sales people its the place to go. I am very happy with the experience overall with the purchase and the Sony product.

Great features, uneven brightness
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV looks great except that around the edges the brightness and colors are not sharp and have a dirty screen effect. I took the TV back and got a second one and the effect was worse. I have had a Samsung for 12 years and will be going with a Samsung TV.

Not a good product.
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was working fine at first. Now that it’s 2 years old and the warranty expired, I have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it to turn on. Otherwise, It won’t turn on with the TVs power button, App or remote. It randomly freezes up and won’t respond to anything. The remote kills batteries in a couple months. For a premium TV, I am very unimpressed. Our LG TV is about the same age and continues to work flawlessly.

Defective
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this on 4/30 for our new house, but installed it on 6/28 (just moved a few days ago) Once installed, there is a full line of pixels bad. Vertical black line up the screen Best Buy on-line will not help, so I have to deal with the store. They even gave me the Sony number to deal with them. Currently an extended hold with Geek Squad Given Best Buys size, their customer service is now nonexistent Sorry Best Buy - I just made my last purchase with you - you lost me as a customer
