Quality LED HDR TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I first picked up a new Sony 800e model TV and after a few days of tweeking it at home I was not happy with the picture nor the gaming experience on it due to the fact its edge lite n only 60hz so I went back to best buy to talk to the service people about my options . Me always being a Samsung guy I looked at the Mu8500 led HD TV which is comp to the Sony 900e n also the Sony 900e HD TV both with native 120hz boards which is great for gaming n action movies . so now I am looking at both TVs trying to decide as both looked great at the store so after an hour I ended up with the Sony 900e as itis fully backlite unlike the Samsung which is edge lite only with super bright colors thst might hurt peoples eyes to make it look brighter. So 2 weeks later I am very happy with the picture quality , sound, gaming experience and loving the calibration menus. Just note for fully 4k HDR on this Sony TV the HDMI outputs to use are HDMI port 2,3 and the TV will even tell you n this . this is def the best TV for the money unless your going oled and spending 2k + but my budget was only 800 to start n ending up spending 1100 but well worth it as this yv is great . I even added 4 led strips to the back

BEST Value of 2017 ... sony > samsung
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. All PROS: no cons. I use as a PC, and have it on Game mode, and still no blur or judder, also no lag. The KS8000 had tons of blur for pc use, returned for this. Viewing angles is slightly brighter than the samsung, but both lose saturation equally. (FYI less viewing angles = less electricity usage, look at OLED energy usage) ALSO better blacks! TV speaker sounds terrible on this but who cares. TIPS: -Bluray Motion Tip without SOE. Minimize blur by setting Motionflow to Clear, Cinemotion to High, and light sensor Off. -To avoid lip sync issues, leave speaker output set to TV, turn volume all the way down on TV remote and turn soundbar up. *Fanboys need not rate this

Excellent Picture, not so good interface
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tv was bought for our living room, and I currently have a KS8000 upstairs for gaming and streaming. In comparison the Sony has better blacks with MUCH less blooming, an order of magnitude better than the Samsung. The colors are crisp and vibrant without being over saturated and overall the picture is incredible. Extremely pleased with it. I honestly think the picture is better than the ks8000 which I love. The Android TV interface is a letdown, though. It's clumsy and slow compared to the Samsung. It also feels scattered and unorganized. I'm getting used to it, though and it's OK, but I strongly prefer the Samsung's smart features and layout. The remote oddly has to be pointed DIRECTLY at the tv or doesn't pick up presses very well. I'm not sure if that's normal or not with this set. I will say the voice searching on the remote and user interface is very nice and really saves a lot of headaches. Even though the UI leaves some improvements to be desired, the incredible picture and performance of the tv more than make up for it. I feel like this is the best bang for your buck tv out there right now.

So far, so good.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I see enough reviews for specs and whatnot, but you should know what this TV is capable of before you are reading this. My best advice is, do research before you update this TV (55x900e). Guy on YouTube claims it makes the TV worse and takes away some of the developer options (may take the ability to run as a dev away totally, not sure). I wish I knew if I should update it, or if Sony does play tricks and "nerfs" functions/options on TV's that are past their "new" age, which would temp people to buy a brand new TV... I would think Sony would be above that, but you never know.. With that said, I own the XBR9 from like 10 years ago, and this new 900e looks much better and has all the options you would expect. I am not sure the 4k is much better than a solid 1080P BluRay, but it will be, and 4k will be the standard in the future starting now. All in all, if you game, this is the TV to get. $1000 black Friday is a steal. Xbox One X will be my addition next year when price falls, as I just dropped 500 on xbox one elite not 2 years ago.. so I got Nvidia Shield to stream, movies and TV (No, I do not trust any TV OS, even if Sony did include Android, the Shield IMO plays much better, especially better than a firestick, and you can download apps straight from Google play, I don't think Sony allows that, but I am keeping my TV offline because I don't want any updates until I figure out if it is worth it or if it "nerfs" the TV.. Sony reps, can you shed some light please? Although, I have an idea on what your suggestion will be, can you please tell me what the updates remove? It doesn't say anything about it on your website. Again, I can't recommend Sony TVs enough, but will stick with Microsoft Xbox One for now. Just try to get on sale and bundle with a Shield, you won't be disappointed! (FYI, don't expect the Shield to be a replacement for a Xbox or PlayStation, not even close, but it does movies and TV better IMO.)

Excellent Picture, Value - Lookout for Updates
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great value 4K HDR television. Love the quality of the picture and the overall operation with Android TV is great. The voice command really works if you use the original remote. Originally bought a soundbar for this TV. Then I compared it to my old 5.1 Panasonic amp, Nova 6 Realistic speakers, and Sony 100w subwoofer. The soundbar lost big time, and went back for a refund. Set up the IR blaster to operate the Panasonic and everything was great - for 2 days. Then something updated, and the IR blaster stopped working, the menu was rearranged so I could not train the Panasonic anymore with either the app or the settings. Lots of traffic about doing a factory reset on the blogs to restore this operation. Apparently this works for a while then you have to reset again. I left this battlefield by finding a STR-DH770 amp. I do not want a fringe solution. Note that the STR--DH750 is approved on the settings menu for controlling your home theater equipment, but Best Buy does not sell this anymore. But the DH770 was being sold on a black friday special. The XBR55x900e and the STR-DH770 work great. Volume, on/off, DTS, Dolby switching etc. Star Wars tie fighters zoom right through your head from behind etc. So if you have a beloved receiver/amp and hope to control it this TV over audio return channel etc, you may want to look elsewhere until Sony really fixes the IR blaster.

Best 4k tv under a grand....yeh it is.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had the 900e for a month no issues. Don't know why people have so much trouble with their tvs if they just act smart and evaluate any possible issues first. Only problems should be either hardware or corrupted software out of the box. If you unpackage it and handle it like an animal, good luck with the screen.Needs a little tweaking for a better natural picture. Used a combo calibration of rtings,a leading consumer publication, a online reviewer and a little of my own tinkering and its pretty decent now. TV has a lot to offer. Android works great. Used my Android phone to set up super easy. Netflix and bluray are suberb, but broadcast programming is just ok. Somehow the blacks really kick in on the higher end resolution input. Also don't know why people don't get the warranty either. Its a joke for the price and I just don't trust 24883200 sub pixel transisters working without a failure sometime.

Very Happy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I found it extremely hard to find a 4K HDR TV that also had a 120mhz natives refresh rate. This one did and I was apprehensive at the cost but, then found bestbuy had them for 25% off so, I spent the money and I’m very glad I did. Great picture, no blurring under fast motion and the smart feature allows for both Netflix and amazon prime. I’ve been streaming 4K content through the wired Ethernet port and it is absolutely amazing. Puts the networks to shame. And it links with Alexa. My only advice, if you don’t have a google account, set one up before installing TV to make process smoother.

Amazing 4K HDR TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super nice 4K HDR TV for the money. They display gets super bright beautiful picture quality! Has really great specs for the money. Not the top of the line as their higher end series that they offer but this a solid mid range to high end mid range tv. You get a lot for your money for this TV. I would highly recommend it. I bought the 75 inch for my living room and the same model in a 55 inch for my master bedroom. Highly pleased and impressed with it. I have owned them both for a year now at the time of writing this review. Sony X900E for the win!

AWESOME TV, Picture and features are top notch
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Only HDMI 2 & 3 are HDR compatible. So plug into one of those, hit home, go to settings then change HDMI to enhanced....Now you can unleash the full potential of this beast. I mainly use it for ps4 pro and xbox one (not s or x) and it's a huge leap up from a d series vizio. The first time I seen the giant smoke plume in hzd:frozen wilds in HDR was my money well spent moment. Didn't notice the details before. Then cod ww2 towards the end of the campaign, theres some cutscenes that look absolutely real because of HDR. Football with ota antenna looked very good too! And the features....to be able to connect my Bluetooth headphones is great, keyboard too, full Google play app store, and self diagnostics. This tv does it all, and very well. Great purchase!

Phenomenal Picture Surrounded By Half-Baked Ideas
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coming from a 2010-model 55" Samsung with high expectations only to be left disappointed. The TV left me with this 'half baked' 'just shut up and buy our content' feeling from broken app streaming, black screen, choppy or non-existent sound, featureless apps or the built in Guide you can't page up/down through. Almost everything about this TV set was irritating. It started with the remote control itself. Permanent "Google Play" and "Netflix" buttons that can not be remapped. I don't do Netflix. It is also a poor unintuitive design. They should borrow a few ideas from Logitech. The Android OS 7.0 itself is often laggy and unresponsive. This is a brand new TV without any user apps loaded that should be optimized and flying out of box. Sadly I would expect after a few years of app use, software bloating that just like phones and tablets, things would get slower and less user friendly on the same base hardware. Onboard WiFi has a bug. If the router is configured to 'securely' rekey the group key (default hourly), every hour the TV disconnects and reconnects to WiFi network. This interrupts all streaming content. I have about four dozen WiFi devices in my home; none except this TV behave this way. I have three routers by three different manufacturers that all rekey and this TV does this connected to all three. Disabling rekey keeps the Sony TV happy. The Sony HT-NT5 soundbar I also purchased does NOT have this problem and rekeys just fine without dropping WiFi or streaming content. Weather Channel app Live TV stream does not work. While Sony and Google do not develop the app, they should partner with these content services to ensure working features. VEVO app plays some video. Some video plays without audio. Some play neither. Installed Sony's 4K Bravia streaming service app. The details said the app supported 2015 and 2016 TV's with no mention of 2017 sets. It also explicitly stated "Android Marshmallow (6.0) is not supported". The software on this set was Android 7.0. I tried it anyway. While the app did install and some content played, most did not. After this app was installed the TV hosed up so much I had to factory reset it. I couldn't even get "TV" to show TV. The Guide does not support page up / down. You have to click up or down one line at a time or hold up/down to scroll... fast. Seriously. It is 2017! I have had this functionality on every other set top box, media receiver, Windows MCE - you name it, including my 2010 Samsung. Must've been dropped from the 'need' or even 'nice to have' list during development. Hire a few more programmers. I can not Play To / Cast To from my Windows PCs any Media Center WTV/DVR-MS content as I can to my aging Samsung set without constant buffering and some notable video transcoding degradation. The TV did pick up my HDHomeRun Prime, all channels and the related guide data. This was impressive. I was also impressed that it picked up my two NAS DLNA servers but found come content would not play that would on my Samsung. Both Amazon and Sony advertise this TV as "Alexa" compatible. I guess that just about says it. Compatible. Not impressed. Flaky. "Alexa, volume up on TV" oft gets "TV is not responding". The TV stand does not swivel. A big face palm on my part for not researching this nuance close enough. Sony pairs this TV with their HT-NT5 and the TV stand base interferes with cable flow from the soundbar in front of it. I guess everyone wall mounts these days and no one has TV furniture anymore so designers spend less time on these cosmetic details. The screen and picture, brilliant and clear. A few sample 4K movies definitely impressed.
