    Worthy successor to plasma

For those folks that own or have owned last gen Pioneer or Panasonic plasmas, OLED is the only technology that you will be happy with. Initially I went with an X900F LCD however after a week of use I could not live with the LCD "look" and lack of shadow detail, especially off axis, that plagues nearly all LCD panels. The X900F is a great TV for color and resolution and most anyone that is used to LCD or prefers the astonishingly bright image would be happy with it, but I was not satisfied compared to what I was used to. The Sony OLED provides a brighter image and higher resolution than any plasma to date and is the only worthy successor to that technology. It seems to handle motion well even without processing engaged and less then stellar sources looked satisfactory while 4K content looked great to incredible. Contrast and shadow detail are state of the art and in my opinion, are the most important attributes of a TV/monitor in providing a pleasing, accurate image. Advice to any Best Buy sales associates: ask what customers have currently! (something that was not asked of me initially)... Any folks that are coming from higher end plasmas; OLED is an easy sell and quite frankly the only technology that equals/exceeds what they're used to.

After experiencing burn-in and returning a 55" TCL LED (6 series), I decided to take the leap and get the TV I originally wanted. I knew this was a crazy amount of money in relation to the TCL, however after experiencing them both, I can only say, wow! This TV has completely and utterly blown me out of the water! After deciding to upgrade to 4k for the first time after feeling spoiled watching my 42" Pioneer Kuro Plasma for well over 10 years, I knew it would take a lot to impress me. This Sony OLED exceeds all of my expectations, and then some, and to me, is totally worth the extra money. No ghosting, deep blacks (as deep as I had with my plasma), fantastic speakers (through the screen!) and a picture that is just mind-blowing. I've got this bad boy mounted on my wall and it looks like a work of art!

Unbelievable picture. I was a little desensitized when I was in the store because there were so many TV’s on display, but once I got home and turned it on, I was blown away! Easy to set up and install. My existing wall mount brackets fit perfectly and the cord length was plenty to run behind the wall. The TV is a little heavy and will take two people to lift and attach to the wall. Due to the thin bezel I wouldn’t recommend doing this by yourself, even if you consider yourself strong. You need to be delicate with the handling. Plenty of inputs that are properly placed (unlike Samsung). Remote is similar to Samsung so it was an easy transition. My only dislike was the amount of online connectivity features that smart TV’s come with. Voice recording, app recording, etc. I don’t like any of that so I chose to disable it all. I enjoy the sound, but I also really enjoy the Bluetooth that allows me to connect my wireless headphones to the TV. I mainly run my Apple 4K off of it. But once and awhile I’ll use the built in app to run Netflix or HBO. OLED allows for deep deep blacks and beautiful brightness. You don’t need to increase the brightness, this TV really balances out of the picture perfectly. Clarity is top notch, I couldn’t ask for a better picture.

Fragile TV. Terrible parts and warranty issues

I bought this TV in early January 2019 and had it for a month and a half. My son hit it with a small plastic toy and it got a small bullet hole crack in it. The whole TV then shut down and stopped working altogether. I called Best Buy and Sony to see if anything could be done but it wasn't covered under any kind of warranty. I called a TV repair place and was given a part number for a replacement panel they found online. I called Sony back to see if they could locate one, after I was referred to the parts distributor, but was told that it was not made available for purchase. So now my only 2 options are to wait maybe up to a year for a broken TV with a good panel to show up on ebay. Then pay to ship it and have it replaced or just buy a new TV. After paying close to $2500 and having to pay more on top of that to have it fixed or replaced is ridiculous. The TV was great for the short time I had it though. Hopefully someone reading this can help me out with an idea on what to do. I wouldn't have purchased it if I had known how fragile it was or how much trouble it would be.

Let me start off by saying that this is my first OLED television. Due to it being a recent purchase, I won't be giving any reviews on this product. Let me start off by saying that I always loved Sony products, they are one of the few companies out there that could still positively surprise you from time to time (market being saturated and all). I came from a XBR55-X930E to this and although the brightness levels isn't on par with the X930E, the OLED purest blacks performance just blows it out of the water. While watching John Wick 2 on 4K Blu-ray on this unit, I was able to tell the difference right away between both sets. The colors and black level were immediately enhanced, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I'm hoping that with recent technological advancements in the OLED world, burn-in won't be much of an issue. Since it's a recent purchase I will continue to run some tests with games, movies and regular TV viewing to see how it performs. Here's hoping it won't disappoint!

This Magnolia based Bravo 55" oled, HDR Chromecast on board TV is spectacular in every sense of the word. Clarity, color fidelity, software, applications, the full screen spreaker (sound comes from the entire screen) The software is phenomenally intuitive and highly adjustable. All of my previous apps from the LG Qled that became defective after 12 months were carried over to the new remote control. True 4K, HDR makes this set perfect. I could not ask for another feature as it has everything and requires no more that five minutes to be up and running on my home network. Android casting works perfect and there are many hidden gems like Pluto TV (cost free), YouTube etc. Sit back and enjoy. Screw the thought of having to spend a day trying to figure out the operating system It works like magic. You can use the voice commands to ask the tv to switch for cabel/antenna, STB just by using your voice. Amazing piece of ultra-tech design.

We bought the tv from Best But in Nov 2018. The setup and configuration of the set was simple enough, the menu is easy to access and switching from live TV to Netflix is only one button. The Google feature that allows you to tell the tv what you want is a nice feature, as well. HOWEVER, one of the reasons we bought this set were the rave reviews about the sound quality and how people didn't even use their sound bars anymore. Really? We have a cheap 2.1 sound bar and the overall sound quality from the tv doesn't match it. There's no bass to speak of, so don't believe the other reviews where they say the bass is good. Lastly, we are contacting Geek Squad because the tv occasionally turns itself on with no input. It happens during the day, at night, whenever. Not happy with this tv at the price of over $2k.

We love our new TV and DVD player. The only reason why we gave it four stars is because our purchase also included new routers and installation, We were a little disappointed with that. The two guys who came out definitely knew the product, and seemed very knowledgable. They even came back to the house after they had already left just to help us with something. The problem was, they were pressed for time and were not able to give us thorough instructions or set up the internet properly. I am still trying to figure out how to do certain things, like how to change the clock setting and use the smart search. The Sony owner's manual leaves something to be desired as well. So here we are with a very nice TV, and we don't know how to use it fully. Someone with more technical savvy would probably not be having this problem, but that is WHY I paid to have Geek Squad come out here! Frustrating! I would recommend the products, but not necessarily Geek Squad. If you have technical knowledge or have a friend who does, please go that route instead.

I had a 55" 3D ( remember them) HD TV. The transition to my new 4K is unbelievable. I'll admit at first it was hard not to be distracted by noticing freckles and other blemishes on the actors and newscasters but that's the price of having great definition. The colors are true to life. I just love everything about this TV. I would recommend having the Geek Squad set it up for you. Why? Because there are a lot of screens to go through to set this TV up. The menus allow you to get the best picture for your tastes and allow you to integrate all of your apps. Yes you can do this, it's not hard to make each decision, but the Tech helps you get it set up like you want in a very short time. Remember, you can always go back and change any menu you want. The TV is expensive, but well worth it. Also, the price of the Geek Squad is worth every cent.

A friend got a new TV for Christmas & was telling us how nice it was.Our TV was 11 yrs old. One morn when it was turned on a puff of smoke came out of it. I called my friend & asked him what we needed to have on a new TV. He said make sure, OLED, 4K, Smart TV, HD. When we gave this info to salesman he said there were 2. We got a 55" & we love it.We could not hook it up, so his son did it for us. We had an issue w/the sound on our old so we got a sound bar. The salesman said this TV adjusts the sound itself & he did not think we would need sound bar. The issues I had were corrected on the TV like he said they would be. so the sound bar went back.We had ROKU to get some additional channels but we don't need it now b/c this has it built in. When I told my friend what we got he laughed & said it is the exact one they have.

I have owned LG OLED TVs in the past and have been very satisfied. Their picture was the best I had seen so when the time came to get a new TV, I was ready to buy another LG - then the Magnolia Rep at Best Buy introduced me to this Sony Bravia OLED TV. WOW, those three letters really say it all. The picture is incredible - better than my old LG and I absolutely love the ANDROID TV that is built in. LG had smart aps and all that, but nothing like what ANDROID TV brings; easily integrated into both GOOGLE Home and Amazon Alexa. My Smart Home just got a lot smarter. I use a Denon Surround Sound system, but I was really impressed with the sound that is built into this Sony Bravia. Very full and rich!. Phenomenal picture, easy to setup and ranked one of the best TVs by Consumer Reports. it really was a BEST BUY!

This tv is an amazing tv. Looks absolutely great. Had it hooked up and everything last night. Watched some tv and then the next day I woke up and the tv wouldn’t turn on. Very disappointed. I originally bought a Samsung and returned it because it was having problems. Decided to spend a lot thinking an expensive tv wouldn’t have any problems but it did. Geek squad worked great with me but they determined it was bad. But after spending just over over 2.5k I’m now considering just fully returning it instead of exchanging for a new one. I don’t know if it’s because TVs aren’t being made well or if I just have bad luck. I will say my friend has the Sony A1E and hasn’t had any problems for 2 years now.

I had my eye on the A8F since it was announced during Sony’s CES show. All of the perks of the Sony A1E OLED, all while saving a little bit of money. The 55” size is perfect for my setup, and boy am I impressed. The Xbox One X looks phenomenal with gaming and with video playback. The native smart features are incredibly clean and simple to use. As for picture quality, Netflix and similar apps look great with very little banding in colors, and even that could be chalked up to the content I’m watching on ESPN+. HDR content looks incredible as touted. The X1 processing chip makes a massive difference moving up from LG’s OLED lineup. Simply put: the Sony A8F is the best television you can buy for raw picture quality.

Sony makes some of the best TVs available to watch. I own a 50 inch LED 900E. I also own a 55 inch Sony OLED A8F. The differences in the two when actually watching them is minimal at best. Android TV operating system is not bad once Sony updates to Oreo 8 version. The older 900E is updated so it is goodl to operate except Sony and Google still have not fixed a bug where you have to turn the TV on twice to get my sound system to play. On the A8F with the older Android version, the CEC and sound system work fine with the HDMI/ARC. The older Android is just bad. The picture is fantastic on both TVs. I bought the A8F OLED for the beautiful form factor. I needed the low stand to fit my built in shelves in the 55 inch size. I use a surround sound system so I also did not need the TV stand raised for a sound bar.

I had a storm take out my old TV and did not have a lot of time for research. I was very happy with my Sony Bravia KDL-42V4100 so I did some quick looking at the Bravia series. It was a toss up between the X900F or this one. I am pretty impressed with this TV so far and am glad to have upgraded to OLED. It is a bit pricey, but I plan on keeping it for a while. This is my first SMART TV and I am liking the Android TV. I set up Youtube, Twitch and a couple others easily and all function great. I am certain I will still use my Apple TV and will probably upgrade it to the 4K version soon. I have also hooked up my PS4 and gaming has been great so far. I am now thinking about upgrading the the PS4 Pro, but still deciding on that or the PS5 in a couple years. So far I would recommend this Tv if you have the extra cash laying around.

After many trips to different Best Buy and hours of research, I finally decided to go ahead and spend the money to get this TV. Sony has done a great job on the design and PQ but I am extremely disappointed to find out that this TV did not have the Dolby Vision. Right after I finished setting it up and update the software I played several shows on Nextflx that I know it’s in DV and for some reason it’s only showing it on HDR. I called their CS twice and they just don’t have a clue. I was told because the TV is too new and no updates yet, if that was the case Sony should not advertise this TV To have DV right out of the box. This could just be a bug but for the amount of money Sony is selling this TV it should be at least tested before they sell it to the consumer to make sure it has all the features that they advertised and it works. This could be a 5 start review if everything works but I will update my review once Sony figures out what’s going on with my TV.

Purchased this TV for its picture quality and its innovative built in sound system that is integrated into the screen. The Good: crystal clear picture, sleek design, amazing upscaling. Most 1080p content from usually cable and Satelite boxes looked substantially better. Great refresh rate with no judder The Bad: compared to other OLED’s in the market, the picture is a little dark. If you are accustomed to OLED t ‘s, you find it too dark The Ugly: compared to the web OS and other pointer style remote controls in the market, Sony is light years behind here. This proved to be too much of an experience disappointment and I brought the tv back as a result. Otherwise it’s an amazing TV.

This is my second Sony XBR and this one is as good as the first. The picture quality is fantastic and the built in sound is good. The setup was quick and painless. I would prefer manual setup features, such as adding channels that did not scan. This would be helpful when setting up an antenna. I thought the days of screen burn were over. The OLED requires a screen saver and blinks out over time in the setting mode. I wish I knew this before buying. SONY customer support can be a challenge but very helpful if you are persistent. The apps are very limited and there is no way to add more from the Google store. This is not like a smart phone. SONY still rocks!

The last Sony I bought was just like this one. Top of the line. All the bells and whistles. Then suddenly without any warning or moving it since install it delivers this picture (see image). After the horizontal lines appeared, then the black ghosting appeared. It is worth nothing now. The Sony corporation said it was out of it's one year warranty. No TV should ever do this. Give me a break Sony. I am going Samsung all the way at this point.

I have always been a huge fan of LG Oled TV's - I thought they made the best TV's avaialble - but I have to be honest, I was blown away by the picture offered by this incredible Sony OLED TV. Simply amazing and better than the LG. The Android system built into the tv makes it a Fun tv to own - and brings all kinds of entertainment options into our home.
