Not impressed with TV. At this price point I expected better picture quality. The picture can be blury and pixelated more noticeable during busy scenes when the camera moves.

My very first Sony tv, I was expecting the best specially because it has Netflix’s calibration mode and actually it was until Netflix stop working, I called Netflix and Sony support and no one can help. I returned to Best Buy(excellent service) and get another one (same model) because I thought that maybe could be a hardware problem on my tv. BUT NO! Same problem. It can’t connect to Netflix. error: tvq-nw-104(404) Thinking to take it back to the store and get a Samsung tv.

      Hello Kuzh,

Thank you for highlighting this issue. Sony worked with Netflix to address the issue and it should be resolved already. If you are still seeing the error, please try exiting and re-launching the app.

I Purchased a Sony - 55" Class X950G (Open Box) on 7/3/21 at the Flushing location in Queens NY. I have not been able to hook it up until today, as the TV did not come with a stand. I finally hooked it up today, but the screen is all dark when I turned on the power. I called customer service and I was informed that it was too late to return it. This is a piece of junk.

I picked up this TV (55" class) this weekend and all my concerns are put to rest. I throughly went over allot of reviews and settled on this model. My only concern was blooming because it's back-lit but doesn't have a tons of zones, but its not noticeable under normal viewing. The blacks are inky and at seems very bright with good color reproduction. The processor is very fast, this is where the other brands save money (and you will notice). I have it wall mounted and it looks great. Just be sure to hook up the connections for the bottom row before hanging the TV as they are hard to get at once on the wall. If your on the fence I recommend this TV; the picture is great, Sony customer service is very good and you get what you pay for.

Should have bought a Samsung... Sony has been non-existent during COVID. Don’t buy from them unless you want to wait till the crisis is over to talk with someone. Sony should be ashamed. I called Best Buy and they gave a runaround as well. More disappointed in Sony. It’s their TV and they should support the customers who need assistance. Next time Samsung for sure!

We bought this tv after our first Sony went out before it was two years old, so we bought another one just a step better. After the first two weeks we started getting green lines shooting through the picture. Went and exchanged that one for another one. One week later that new one wouldn't stay hooked up to the wi-fi. Needless to say we went to another brand.

Can't review. Tv set up by Geek Squad was defective, so it just sits on the tv console until it can be replaced. The Bose music system is fine & I am enjoying using it. The new Best Buy Sony DVD player not out of the box yet since I can't use it until the tv is replaced by the Geek Squad. They will also discard my old one.

I cancelled the purchase on this TV, because of poor sound quality. A sound bar was recommended to improve sound quality. I choose to purchase an LG TV instead. Given the cost of a new TV, I could not justify the cost of spending more to cover inferior sound!

900e better than 950g. QLED eclipses both!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

In the opinion of a current 900e owner and lover, the 950g is mediocre overall and not worth the upgrade. Pros: (list of things the 950g does better than 900e) -Absolutely brillant clarity -Streaming looks good -Supports Dolby Vision -SDR color saturation -Great motion -Brightness Cons: (900e excels where the 950g disappoints. The downfall of 950g follows...) -lacks "deep" blacks -excessive noticeable blooming -lack of shadows at the expense of increased shadow detail -HDR colors are washed out -HDR lacks shadows/blacks -PS4/Gaming picture/gamma is muted and unattractive -Muted/dull colors compared to competition I really liked my 900e, but felt the picture could be sharper, brighter, and the blacks deeper. And the HDR (in my opinion) appeared somewhat muted, but not to the full blown extent of the 950g. 950g clarity is out of this world sharp which is its biggest selling point. But the 950g lacks blacks and as a result, 3d image depth and color pop are forfeited for the unnecessary emphasis on shadow details. Not so much in SDR, but this effect is on full display once HDR is enabled. You are left with a picture that is overly bright with no shadows apparantly. FOR GAMERS: If you love gaming in HDR, I would not recommend this TV. Particularly HDR gaming. The picture is faded, brights don't shine, and the blacks are nonexistant for some reason. After owning the 950g for about a day before returning it, it made my 900e resemble an OLED set for a minute. I love OLED pictures, but I can't justify OLED prices with the high probability of potential burn-in. The next best thing was QLED, but I didn't trust Samsung. Or at least I thought I didn't. I always found myself interested in the QLED series. I always heard Samsung handled HDR and HDR gaming better than Sony. One Q8fn purchase later and I'm officially flipping my opinion on both Samsung and Sony. Yes, I know the Q80r is newer than the Q8fn, but I got it much cheaper since it's an older model and I don't regret it. The Q80r is more expensive than the 950g, but I think the the premium upgrade will leave you satisfied, not with buyers remorse. The Q70r might even be more formidable as it is priced the same, but you still get alot of benefits of QLED. With Sony focusing on OLED to produce strong blacks in their product line, they are nerfing black levels on non-OLED models. The 900e has much deeper blacks than the 950g and more color punch and depth as a result. I thought the decrease in contrast ratio wouldn't harm the picture quality as much, but boy was I was wrong. The QLED Q8fn has way deeper blacks than both (900e/950g) while offering what I consider mindblowing color along with brillant hdr pop that is complety opposite of the muted lighting and color scale Sony uses in their HDR implementation. I'm not sure about Sony OLEDs since I will never purchase one, but I am officially over their LED-LCD offerings. QLED is more expensive, but it's more expensive for a reason. I use to be pro Sony and I knew my 900e wasn't the best of the best so I didn't mind that the picture wasn't mindblowing, but it was darn good in 2017 and still is now. Fast forward to today and I would be under the impression that a current Sony TV that's advertised as premium would exceed my 900e, but it only confirmed my buyers remorse for going with Sony in 2017 while increasing my appreciation for the 900e overall. I can honestly say Samsung creates a more attractive display than Sony as far as QLEDs go. I'm aware the Q8fn is an older model, but it completely obliterates the 950g in picture quality and functionality. I assume the Q70r/80r do the same. Again, if you are a gamer who enjoys visual pop especially in hdr, I do not recommend the 950g. If you watch movies, the dark room performance on this tv is lacking, but good enough for SDR. Never watched a HDR enabled movie on this set so I can't say anything about that feature for movies. The overall picture clarity is outstanding, but the black levels leave alot to be desired. Even with all the goodies this tv packages in itself, this is the set that made me go outside my comfort zone and try other brands. I still love Sony and look forward to 2020, but currently my 900e excels where the 950g disappoints.
