TV doesn’t turn

Better than my X900F

I returned it when I read about the upcoming X950G. It was worth the wait. When paired with my Panasonic 820 Ultra Blu-Ray Player, the picture is awesome. The sound from this TV is significantly improved over the X900F. I am choosing not to buy a soundbar with this TV. I have always had Samsungs in the past and would not go back. Sony is the best TV on the market in my opinion. I would highly recommend the X950G.

Seems overpriced, local dimming abysmal
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was in the market for a new TV since mine was going on 10 years. Looked around for a 55" class TV and the X900F was relatively well rated for my purposes. The X950G, though, was only a bit more expensive and contained some features I considered important (lower input lag, updated remote, all ports full-speed, etc), so I bit the bullet and ordered it. At this point I've had it for less than a week, but have definitely put in some hours watching a bunch of TV shows, a few movies and played a game via PC (Shadow of the Tomb Raider @ 4K). While the TV does have really good picture quality, two negatives have stuck out to me: 1. Dark corners. This is supposedly a common problem, but seems to be something Sony could have figured out by now ... 2. Inadequate local-dimming leading to considerable blooming in scenes with contrast. If you have subtitles on-screen during a dark scene this will make the blooming issue even worse as the area around the subtitles will be brightened making it very visible. I've also noticed other issues with the local dimming and I'm getting to the point where I might have to turn it off (if I can). I was originally considering the Vizio P55, but found out that has some issues when being used as a PC monitor (something about sub-pixels). So, for anyone who doesn't need to use their TV with a PC, I would probably say consider something else, first. With all of that said, though, I will say the TV is pretty good, otherwise, which is why I'm, reluctantly, recommending it. It just seems the quality/features don't justify the price. I would recommend people wait until this gets a bit cheaper or be aware of the downsides before dropping over a thousand dollars especial since similar, although slightly worse, TVs can be had for much cheaper.

Great TV, just get the 4K FireStick
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ended up with this one after my 55" XBR800E died in May after just under 1 year of use. Luckily, the manufacturer warranty was still barely active and I got a replacement 800G, which was underwhelming compared to the 800E (even tho newer) so I sold it. Was planning on switching to OLED but got a terrific deal on the 950G with a 3 year support plan included; a must since the 800E bit the dust after so short a time. To all the negative reviewers griping about Android interface, just get the Amazon FireStick 4K people, voice remote plus Disney+ and all the apps work just fine, not a big deal. Very happy overall if it runs a longer time then the last TV.

Broke after 3 years
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nice while it lasted. Unfortunately it stopped working about three years after I bought it. It won’t turn on aside from a red flashing light at the bottom of the tv. I sought support to fix the problem but was told it would be cheaper to buy a new tv than to fix it. That being said, it was a nice tv. I never had any issues or complaints with it until it suddenly stopped working. If you’re thinking about buying this maybe skip it and look for a better quality tv. Maybe one that’s not made by Sony.

great but bad judder

Great TV except one issue with freezing YouTube

Ones in 2 or 3 days YouTube videos stop playing. YouTube app loads fine but when I start playing video it freezes and only reboot can solve the issue. I push and hold power button on my remote and reboot option shows up on the screen. After rebooting TV I'm good to go for another 2-3 days. No additional apps installed on my TV. I have tried factory reset but it did not help. Sony please fix this problem in firmware update and I would give a 5 starts
