    Tv restarts

I purchased this tv to replace a Sharp Aquos; image is not bad , good quality, I loved the opera app..... but frustrated since tv has already restarted alone after watching more than 2 hours. It makes a beep like an alert and after that it turns off. I don't know if this happened to other customers or it is because I have a defective tv.

    Terrible for gaming

If gaming is important to you stay away from this TV. Even in game mode this TV has terrible input lag. On top of that it's has this blue blur effect that I just couldn't get past. Anything that's had a fast motion to it was affected by the blur. There is no way my 200 dollar low end 4k tv should look and play better than this TV for the price.

4K HDR at 60 inches under $1000 is possible. An absolutely stunning picture wether you are watching the latest movie, an old favorite, sports, or video games. No motion blur and flawless upscaling no matter the source material.

    Good HD TV

Very good purchase as i got it during thanks giving sale of 2017. Nice picture and audio quality. Only point to note is that it supports only 2.4GHz network but not 5GHz. Because of this the streaming on Wi-Fi connection could be slow. I opted for Wired net connection and its working fine

Picked up an open box Sony last night. Very easy set up. Excellent picture. Only bad is. Today I'm watching it for a couple of hours and it smells like burning plastic in the living room. I'll call the store tomorrow and see if I need to return it or hopefully it's just new smell

Don’t spend the extra money for a Sony

Five years to the day and this TV no longer works! Don’t spend the money. Sony doesn't even care that I’m going to buy a Samsung since my Samsungs all still work and were purchased In the same year. Sony wouldn’t even give me a coupon for a small discount to purchase another Sony. Never again!

This tv is ok. It had issues with the screen and it had to be replaced witin the first 2 months. Also, the apps can't be updated and new ones can't be added so it's not a very "smart" tv. at almost 5 years the screen started to get blue splotches. It does work with the Playstation but not enough to make it cool, it just turns it on and off and you can use it inside apps as a regular remote like with netflix

I use mine for YouTube and 4K gaming and with HDR and smart tv apps it works perfectly. No Android but that is OK because my other tv that I bought a couple years back is already slow now and that is just how it goes. Great video quality fast easy interface. Great!

    Overpriced

Save you money buy TCL TV,at half the price twice the features, One thing I did not like the Sony from the start could not connect to 5G internet speed. To me this is Key for a smart TV Otherwise it did have a great picture, but that's it, TCL has ton more features at half the price, although the Picture quality is not quite as good, its not bad, I took it back and swap it out for TCL and I am more than satisfied. Gave up a little quality for more options. If you are wondering TCL Tv connected right to 5G. Not even Best buy employees could tell me the connection speed, which is sad especially for Smart TV.

    TV is a headache

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have had this TV and Sony sound bar for a year now, purchased both from BB. This TV has been nothing but a headache. I’ve been in the IT business my entire life and this TV exhibits all the attributes of bad software. As time goes by the TV’s response to the remote slows down to the point where the TV becomes non-responsive (memory leak? memory segmentation?). At that point, the TV must be unplugged from the wall to force a reboot (cycling power does nothing). Using the internal WiFi causes the TV to crash on a more frequent basis and even when the TV hasn’t crashed the applications on the TV report they can’t access the network while the TV setup function reports the TV is connected to the internet. Stepping the TV through the network setup connection process reestablishes the TV’s applications’ connection to the internet. As other users have reported the firmware update feature doesn’t work over the network, if you want to update the TV you must use the USB option. Doing a factory reset is a complete waste of time. The TV works well when it not behaving badly so here what I’ve done to overcome the problems. I have a timer on the TV's line cord and I cycle power on the TV every day in the middle of the night. I have also installed an external WiFi adapter which allows me to connect the TV to the internet via an Ethernet cable. I’ve attempted to contact Sony support and I haven’t heard anything back. I’m going to give this review two stars because the TV works OK giving all the workarounds I’ve implemented but you have to have a degree in Computer Science to make the thing usable. If you are seriously reading these reviews I’d think twice before buying one of these things.

    Good TV, not very “smart”

Overall I’m impressed with this TV in terms of general ability... great picture, good sound, fairly easy to use. My frustration with it is that is claims to be a smart TV but it really is limited in its smart capabilities. We use Netflix, Hulu, Sling, and Spotify mostly but this TV only supports two of those. After reading many threads and talking to various people on the phone, I keep hearing that SONY does not supports Sling or Spotify. Assuming other brands have the same overall quality, I wish I would have bought a different TV for the sake of the smart features.

TV died. Randomly it gave out. It also needed updates that were confusing to complete. All in all the Tv should last much longer than a few years.I’m very disappointed

    Excellent clear TV...until it dies

I’ve been a long time supporter of Sony. For most of my life, I used Sony and each TV lasts for at least over 10 years. However, this was my first Sony flat screen TV, and I always felt the picture clarity and quality was very clear and precise. After less than two months of daily use, it can’t turn on anymore and I get the two red light blinks. There were times where the TV freezes during Netflix and YouTube, and another time where it wasn’t able to connect to the internet. So I’ve had to unplug the power and plug back in a few times, and factory reset once. I suppose those were the signs that the TV was already dying. I called Sony to set up a repair order. I had to wait 2-3 business days to receive an email, and that was to call another number..... Then I was told there’s no Sony service agents where I live so they can’t repair it and I can’t exchange it. For a full refund, I need to draw on the screen with a marker, cut up the serial number in two, and then send Sony photo evidence of the work. I’m still in the process of doing this, but I’m just so disappointed with Sony. A part of my wants to get the same TV because the picture quality is very good and I don’t feel it can happen to me twice, right? We’ll see.

I'm a long-time fan of Sony TVs and it's been my go-to recommendation. However, my X690E died after not much use over the last four years. Really surprised. Need to replace it but not sure I'll go SONY again.
