    Worked Great For A Week

I loved this TV at first. However, I soon realized there were issues after my Apple TV 4K wouldn’t work with HDR settings no matter what I did (yes, I tried setting the HDMI input to ‘Enhanced’). About a week after owning it, we noticed some discoloration appear along the left edge of the TV screen that would appear purple or green depending on the content on the screen. I returned the TV and got the X900E and I could not be happier.

    DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

Last August our house burned down & we lost everything. After waiting nearly a year for the house to be rebuilt, my parents were anxious to get back in (I’m handicapped and live in an apartment above their garage), so my Dad hurried to buy TVs on time. I really wish he had not! This TV is AWFUL! Any and all movement - from watching baseball to an action movie to depicting rain - causes the picture to blur & pixelate. I’ve been playing with all of the settings for the entire 2 weeks I’ve had it and NOTHING helps. No matter what I do, no matter what I watch, pixelated blurs are all I get. And, because my father just had to get both cars in the garage he had all of the TV boxes broken up & removed so now, I am stuck with this nightmare of a television. The other TVs in the house are 55” Sony’s and a 65” for my Dad and we have no complaints about those, so no need to write the brand off altogether. But please, regardless of ‘great deal prices’ do NOT be tricked into buying this model TV. You WILL regret it. Heaven knows I do!

    Total disappointment

I have 5 HD TVS. They are a mix of 720 & 1080. The oldest is about 11 years old (46” Sony Bravia 1080). Beautiful pictures. Never a problem with any of them. I understand that 60” TVs are being phased out & I wanted a 60” UHD TV for over my fireplace. Because of past experience with Sony I opted for the Sony KD60X690E. What a disappointment. Picture & colors are not sharp. Not even close to any of the other TVs, none of which is UHD. I did adjust the settings to try to fix it, but it didn’t change considerably. The bigger issue was that the remote stopped working other than on/off. Can’t change the volume, input, options, etc. The Comcast remote will not work, other than on/off. The other thing that was happening was that the TV would go off by itself for a few seconds then come back on. The TV was only installed for 2 days. I called Sony support and they told me to take the batteries out of the remote, press every key, insert new batteries and then try again. I explained to the technician that I didn’t think that could be the problem because the Comcast remote would not work either, the remotes did turn the TV on/off, and also I could see the receptor light on the TV blink when I keyed the remote. The TV gets the signal but doesn’t react to it. To please the techie, I followed the instructions and obviously it did not correct the problem. The technician then told me to unplug the TV & plug it back in. Problem! The TV is wall mounted and the outlet is behind the TV between the wall mounts. Impossible to get to without removing the TV. Crazy! I’m 77 years old and it is certainly not practical to remove the TV to reset it. If this is the solution for problems with the TV the power cable should be attached to the TV at a point where it is easy to reach or the TV should have a reset button. I felt the work around for the problem is impractical because I think most 60” TVs are wall mounted. My solution? I returned the TV and bought an LG. The LG power cable is attached to the back of the TV in a way that is accessible when wall mounted. My rating for Sony went from a 10 to a 1.

Underwhelmed ! Would not buy again.

I purchased this TV last year on thanksgiving deal. TBH, the initial few days were very good. But slowly I started seeing issues with remote and other apps like Youtube. I do not use Netflix so I cannot comment on that app. Also this TV does not identify WiFI in the 5 GHz band. So you will face issues connecting to internet using Wifi, if your router is far away. Now even my remote has stopped working and would not respond to any controls other than On/off. With the kind of handicaps that I have faced with this TV, I would definitely not be recommending it another person.

    Buy extended warranty

Purchase Black Friday 2017. Thought it would last longer than 3 years so did not buy the extended warranty, after all Sony has a great track for quality. At the three year mark my apps were gone and on Christmas Eve the screen won’t turn on and it shows the red blinking light (6 times). Sony said, too bad and the repair person said it’s not worth fixing it because it’s a cheaply made TV. I’m disappointed, my Christmas gift was a broken TV. I guess we have to buy a 5 year extended warranty even for Sony products.

i have problem with connecting to the wifi signal. video loads and plays for a few minutes then stops to buffer. to get it to work again i have to unplug and plug back into the power socket. will work for a few days after resetting the tv before it stops working again. been in contact with sony, i've gone through all 3 levels of support and still haven't been able to get the tv fixed. they had me reset tv to factory settings, update the software, checked internet speed/connection, i had to change wifi frequency through my internet provider. i'm dissatisfied with sony and best buy over the customer service and support with this issue.

Had this tv less then 30 days. A green line formed down the left of the screen. Took it back to Best Buy and at first they said it was past the 15 day return policy. I told them it was defective and that we purchased 2 of the same TVs. They got the manager who was very nice and because I’m an elite member he made an exception. He suggested we pay $50 more and get the Samsung which we did. Hopefully our other Sony won’t have an issue. Wish us luck

So upset with this tv. It has been nothing but a headache since I purchased it in August 2017. The only thing its good for is my amazon fire stick. I've contacted sony several times about the tv's issues and they just keep telling me the same thing every time. It has been no help and I wish I would've noticed this sooner because then I would've returned the tv. The youtube never works, the internet never works even after having AT&T come to my home and connect the tv hardwired to the ethernet cable on my wall.

Good picture but has network problems

The HD picture is great 4k is OK. Has good features but they don't work most of the time. 1) This TV must be unplugged daily because it looses connection to network (even though it says it's connected) and often can't find any other inputs even though they are there. 2) The firmware won't update via internet even though is says its connected with a strong signal. It won't update via ethernet or USB either. Get the same failed message on all.

This unit worked great until November. Now it has fried 3 Xbox one X consoles. Sony has refused to send anyone out even after I've told them I've replaced the console 3 times, including the HDMI cable, power cord, network cable, and surge protector. It will run fine in 1080P but the minute I go to 4k on my console it cuts out and eventually doesn't work at all. They are insistent that I hook the console back up to 'test' and I refuse to deal with another broken console.

    Garbage

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

so the picture is good, contrast acceptable, HDR virtually non existant but as a 4k TV it is quite nice as long as not buying for HDR purposes. The motion is generally smooth as well and comparable to my old plasma but certainly not as good. What stinks is 8 days of use before the screen shuts off and never turns on again. SONY i will not purchase garbage you permit on the shelf again. Better off buying cheaper TVs and replacing more regularly.

Worse TV I have ever purchased. You can’t add apps and the tv only comes with 5 apps. Netflix, vudu, YouTube, Pandora & Hulu - which is no longer support by the tv. I will never buy another Sony tv because of this one…an absolute WASTE OF MONEY!!!
