Was ok but not anymore
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I owned this TV for exactly 2 years. At that point the panel died. Sony is one of the only company’s that doesn't replace bad panels. Buy a warranty with any Sony TV because of this! It also has light bleed and the blacks are just not rich and full. I’d recommend it to an enemy. 2,200 bucks down the toilet. I always loved Sony but the TV’s are not what they used to be!

Light Bleed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Looks like someone was shining a flashlight in the corners of the TV a known issue with this TV. Best Buy employee LIED to me and said that Sony had fixed the issue, the guy just wanted to make the sale and didn't care about the fact that I was getting an inferior product. Return process was easy but inconvenient.

TV Backlight Went Out
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We spent a good amount of money on this TV and even bought the 2 year extended warranty. Right after the 2 year extended warranty ended the backlight started going out and then completely went out. Very disappointed in this product.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do not buy this TV. In two years it completely broke. First started with lines through the screen. Then the screen would go black. Commpletely broken within 2 years. It was mounted on the wall and well taken care of. I'll never buy a sony tv again.

What an amazing TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently purchased the Samsung 56” UN65JS9000FXZA and was very dissatisfied with it (see my review on it) and traded it out for this SONY. OMG what a difference. The picture is crystal clear on my Direct TV and the Upscaling is amazing. Haven’t seen any picture lag or funniness like the Samsung and every time I turn it just say to myself “wow”. 4K streaming through Netflix is also very impressive. Had a close friend over to watch a movie and she went out the next day and bought the same TV. I haven’t had to tweak anything on it like the Samsung where I tweaked the picture for day. Clear and great picture right out of the box.

Tough Call
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is by far one of the best TV's Sony has ever made. But there is a catch... Pros: The thinness of the screen just adds to its beauty, the sound quality is incredible and needs no sound support from a home theater system. Colors are absolutely beautiful and the 4K is stunning. The refresh rate is flawless and is the clearest picture for movie watching I've ever seen. The media hub is as good as Apple TV and it streams 4K content through Wi-Fi. If you are wall-mounting this TV is a must. Here come the cons: However… The light bleed... It's terrible. Sony's recall did not fix the problem. I called Sony and they told me that the light bleed was "within this models acceptable specifications." I said "sir, Sony makes one of the best TVs on the market and none of them have light bleed. What you're telling me is that Sony messed up on this model and doesn't know how to fix it." I have requested an extended warranty from Sony covering me if the light bleed gets bigger or any other features go out on the television set before I make my decision to keep it or take it back. They have yet to respond. If you can stomach the light bleed, get this TV. If not, don't lose hope. The 850 C is the same model just not as thin. Best Buy is by far the BEST place to buy your TV set from. Do not make the mistake of going anywhere else. Their customer service has been incredible during this process. All in all, I would like to see Sony come up with a solution to take care of their customer base. For an excellent company this is really putting a bad taste in my mouth. Best Buy has gone above and beyond take responsibility for the issue and ensure that I am completely satisfied. Props to them for showing what a real company looks like.

Best Sony 4k TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the 65" TV a few months ago and so far it's been amazing. The PQ is fanastic, great colors thanks to the Triluminos and deep black levels. I really like how the panel is an IPS panel. Really great viewing angles and contrast are superb. The 4k X-reality PRO upscaling makes everything from Netfliz, Bluray/ DVD movies, and gaming look awsome. 4K videos look so real. The TV has passive 3D which is a plus, bought two pairs for $10 each., recommend watching Avatar, Pacific Rim in 3D just too name two. Gaming in 3D looks good. The Andriod OS is fluid, and has built in chrome cast which makes casting from my Andriod phone great. The tv speakers are ok but won't give it a minus for the tv, the TV is obviously ultra slim which have small speakers. I have a 5.1 home theater setup so that's not a problem for me. I've always liked Sony TVs there are the best in the market, have the most experience in 4K for more than a decade. If your gonna get a 4K TV get a Sony, you won't be disappointed.

Dead, and no parts

DISAPPOINTED
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Oh where do I begin? i wanted to love this TV with all my heart, I really did. When I saw it in the store, I was instantly sold. I mean come on, the screen on this thing is thinner than an iPad air 2 (SERIOUSLY). In the store , with the "Ant Man" intro on loop, this thing looked amazing. So I instantly forgot about the $1500 TV that I originally planned to buy and said "YES! I'll take this one!". What a TERRIBLE mistake. As I've already said, the design of this TV is stunning. Picture quality on the other hand instantly made me feel like I had been bamboozled. I understand that 4k is not yet the standard, but with "upscale everything you watch" written prominently on the box, I at least expected an upgraded picture quality from my 55 samsung led. For the most part the picture is fuzzy. I don't see more definition or detail while watching normal HD content. Like to watch football? Me too! Not on this TV though. The ball spinning in the air mimics some sort of 16 bit super nintendo looking object. I could not believe my eyes. THIS IS 4K? THIS IS AN UPSCALE? Not for me. Second issue is the light bleed. its obvious this is a major issue because anyone doing a review mentions it. IT IS HORRIBLE. i spent 2300 plus about 200 tax and another 300 for warranty. 2800 bucks to wish it looked like my $1000 samsung??? NO dark blacks. all blacks are washed and grey. VERY disappointing. I would go out on a limb and say that anyone who DIDN'T return this TV just doesn't want to go through the hassle of getting it back in the box. The best part about buying this TV is that Best Buy will take it back. HEY TV PEOPLE! If thinner screens are going to affect picture quality then the screens were fine two years ago. Stop focusing on slimmer screens and make a TV that doesn't have white light spots in each corner.

Light bleed, of course
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We tried two XBR65-X900C sets, and both had light bleed in 3 corners and across the bottom. The sleek design of the set looks really good hugging the wall, but I guess light bleed is the price you pay for the thin panel and tiny bezel. Kudos to Best Buy for working with us. I discussed the potential problem with the salesman before buying, and he assured me that if there was a problem they would "take care of it." They swapped out both sets with no drama at all. In the end we spent more money and upgraded to an XBR65-X950B. This is a 2014 model, but with full-array, local dimming the picture quality is outstanding.

Disappointing picture quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Back in December my dad got the Sony XBR65X850B and it is amazing, so now it's my turn to upgrade from a 7 year old 46" Samsung TV. After several months of research, I decided to spend a little bit more and get a higher level panel than his. So I went with this Sony XBR65X900C. I initially noticed that the picture was much softer and almost blurry compared to my dads tv. With watching DirecTV tv channels, the channel logos in the bottom corners are not sharp and clear, almost like watching a 720P feed. This 900C tv does not even come close to the super dark blacks and vivid colors of my dad's. This just seems blurry, dull and lifeless. After a few days I really started to notice the horrible white light bleed across the bottom and worse in the bottom corners. Also, when you look at the panel straight on, there is a slight grey fade to the edges. When you move to the side, off axis, it gets a lot worse. I know this is the nature of backlit led's but this seems much more exaggerated than most. There were very few actual consumer reviews of this tv when I bought it in mid July and there were no units on display in the BB stores yet. I found that blu-ray's were very grainy and the only thing that looked halfway decent was newer games on the Xbox One. Slightly better was 4K streaming content from Netflix, but it depended on what program I chose on the Netflix 4K list. I spent two weeks tweeking on settings and trying to get it to look better... or at least close to the sharp clear picture my dad gets on his. No luck. The light bleed across the bottom and corners seemed to get worse. Most of my watching is at night in a mostly dark room. I don't care if the tv is .2 inches thick or 6 inches thick, I care more about picture quality. Almost seems that 2014 was the year for Sony and 2015 is the year for Samsung...IMHO. I really really wanted a Sony but after two weeks of being disappointed with this tv, I returned it and ended up getting a Samsung JS9500.

very frustrating tv. too much money for this one.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We spent alot of money on this television. It does look great but the android operating system is frustrating. We have tried everything to make this tv work but it still keeps messing up. It will not respond to the remote from time to time and we have to reboot the system. It will turn off on its own as well which is crazy. And we have had it just a couple of months and have downloaded updates for the operating system 5 times. It is like having one of the first edition computers. Ridiculous problems for such and expensive piece of equipment.
