    Very Good TV, Great Value!

After researching 4k TVs for about 2 mos including this one...I was dead set on 65" and either the Samsung KS8000 or the Sony XBRX850D. However, after looking at the TVs many times with various content, I purchased the Sony closeout X900C...my experience after a month with the TV. 1st off I was initially scared off this set due the light bleed complaints many have reported, but I'll get to that later. . Unboxing and setting the TV up was very easy...we wall mounted it using the included wall mount bracket (two person job). We got lucky hitting a stud and used 100lb rated toggle bolts the other side. Note...their wall bracket results in a nice flush to the wall fit, but you might need to buy a recessed wall outlet if hanging over a fireplace. The android OS is very user friendly even with the touchpad remote (comes with 2 remotes) once you get the hang of it. That said, if you plan on accessing the web a lot, I would suggest getting a wireless keyboard and mouse. In either case, following all of the prompts, within 10 mins. or so we had the TV up and running watching via the HD cable box. Surfing the web with the touchpad remote with voice command is a nice feature. Picture quality out of the box imo is just as good as my Samsung 1080p plasma that has been calibrated...TV is bright, but still looks natural...the sports mode turns up the brightness slightly and brings it closer to the Samsung KS8000. Upscaled 1080 content is better, but imo not drastically. Although I didn't really buy the TV for 4k content, but after watching some 4k content on Youtube it really separates the picture quality from my plasma. Finally...the light bleed (bottom left corner) is noticeable on a black screen or dark scenes but imo not enough to be a major concern...if I paid $1800+ I would be more critical, but for $600+ less than the X850D or KS8000, I can live with it. Basically you're getting a cross between the X850D and X930D for a price more in line with their entry level X750D. If you're a videophile maybe you pass on this TV, but I'm happy with the TV and very happy with the savings.

I purchased this tv because I really love the picture and the color quality was superb. right after I set up the tv, I noticed that there is a white color that bleeds on every corner specially when you watch dark scenes. I tried all the settings hoping it will fix the problem but unfortunately it didn't. So I returned it and replaced it with samsung 4k.

Great TV, Android TV offers many great bonuses

I purchased this TV after having two horrifying back to back experiences with two new LG TVs, both of which appeared to be completely incompatible with multiple brands of A/V receivers. What a breath of fresh air. The picture quality is amazing. Great dynamic range and color reproduction, particularly with 4K sources. Fast UI powered by Android TV. In addition, the TV is HDCP 2.2 compatible, so you have some future proofing for the latest generation of devices, and those to come. The streaming services include Netflix and Amazon -- but as the TV runs Android, you have great future proofing and more will become available in the future. A few commenters have called out an initial update "taking an hour" -- this is very heavily biased by the performance of your internet connection. Mine completed fairly quickly (less than 15 minutes) and you can set things up to auto-update when asleep to save time going forward. An added bonus is activating the 24fps auto mode -- this is nice when having all sources go through an AV receiver. So when you do pop-in a Blu-Ray, and switch the input on your AV receiver, the TV will automatically switch into 24 for film -- complete with the visual enhancement for cinema, and then switch back out when your done. The unit comes with two remotes; the new smart remote and a conventional remote ideal for manual programming of things like Harmony remotes. There's also an IR blaster included for those that lack a smart remote or have a simpler system -- and would like the TV to control everything. Only thing missing right now is 5.1 output for streaming services. This is a software, not hardware issue. There's an update due soon to address.

Bought this model because it was on sale during Cyber Monday. Picture is incredible, Netflix streams 4k with no issues. Using the TV is simple and intuitive. I can't wait to try out the 3D layer on. Cons: Doesn't come with 3D glasses, but best buy has the generic ones that are amazingly light. Definitely need a sound bar or speakers since the factory ones are nothing special (plus they point straight down).

This television is designed for the future and built to last. It was a little hard to install but once up beautiful color. Be careful removing from package, it's super thin and could bend. It's like having a movie theater in your living room, for a reasonable price. If you watch Netflix or Movies, this is for you.

LIGHT BLEED -WILL BE RETURNING UNIT

My family and me have been big SONY TV fans and have used SONY TVs for several years. It was time to buy a new TV and just bought the TV 6 days ago at local BB. Excellent picture in the store. I had read the online reviews on BB and amazon that pointed out the light bleed issue with this model. I asked this question to the salesman and I was reassured by the salesman that the light bleed issue has been resolved by SONY. I was told that the XBR900C TVs in the store have been running constantly day and night in the store and there is no issue with light bleed at all. So went ahead and bought the TV. Turn TV on and there is no issue with bright scenes and during daylight. However when I turned on the TV at night in the dark and during scenes with black background there is a lot of light bleed in the bottom left and right corners. Feel really frustrated, now I have to pack this TV and take it back to the store. If this TV continues to have light bleed issues, why is SONY still putting this TV on for sale. Are they just trying to get rid of all existing units. Feel really disappointed in SONY. The product is otherwise fantastic. the amazon prime, TED talks and other android applications work like a charm. Remote is super easy to use. But the light bleed just kills any scenes with dark backgrounds.

Since my XBR 55 HX950 which I bought in late 2012 developed the dreaded horizontal line problem which was recognized last year by Sony.... ( Posted: 10/01/2014 Dear Valued Sony® BRAVIA® customers, Sony has identified a limited number of 55" BRAVIA LCD televisions (models listed below) which may develop a horizontal line or bar across the LCD display. Affected Models XBR-55HX950 Solution As part of our commitment to quality, Sony has a program to replace any Affected Model experiencing this issue through September 30, 2017. Note: This limited warranty extension is only applicable to specific horizontal line or horizontal bar symptoms for the Affected Models, and except as set forth in this announcement, the terms of the Sony limited warranty that accompanied the Affected Models continue to apply.) ....................................................................................................................... I had my HX950 Sony covered through Geek Squad and since a repair could not be accomplished I was given full credit for my purchase price of $2,699.... Since the only current Sony TV model that has FALD as my HX950 does is the XBR 950B 65" and costs about $5K, I had to lower my sights on the XBR 900C ... and opted for 65" model. I am very much aware of the (problematic light bleed etc) reviews for the 900 series but thought I would give it a try as ... Well the 65" 900C was delivered today ... My HX950 was taken down and the 900C was mounted in its place....unfortunately after it was turned on there was very minor light bleed in the lower right corner but significant light bleed in the lower left corner... there is no way around it. anyones eyes would gravitate to it.. the Geek Squad rep, Rachel said it is defective and took the 900C down and put back my old HX950 until I decide what set next...... It is interesting to note that if you apply pressure at or around the light bleed area with thumb and forefinger you can make the effect dissipate but since there are no screws or anything else which would allow to compensate and apply or lessen the pressure...there's not a whole lot you can do to remedy this... Also the IPS panel reflects way too much light.. if you happen to get a set without light bleed the reflections in a average living room setting will drive you nuts.... I Really want my XBR 55HX950 fixed!!!!

    Light Bleed - very upset

I originally wanted this TV, but was worried after reading some of the reviews about the light bleed issues. However, I read that the issue was resolved and Amazon and Best Buy were selling the newer sets without the issue. So I walked into Best Buy and what do you know it is on sale with free wall mount installation. I buy the warranty just in case. They install it into my new home, but I do not really sit down to enjoy the TV for another 2 weeks from all the unpacking. Finally, we sit down to watch Jurassic World and I notice some light coming in on the bottom right of the screen where the black bars are located. It is not terrible, but over the next few days it gets much worse. Now light bleeds all through out the bottom of the set and on the top left corner, too. I don't panic, because I have the warranty (we will get to this soon). I do not want to call Best Buy yet to come fix the TV, since I want to have people over to see the house and Christmas is coming up so I decide I will contact Best Buy after the holidays. What is the rush, I have a 5 year warranty. Finally, they come and say they cannot do any repairs to this set and we will just need to swap out the TV. Even better right? Nope. He then tells me that once we swap out your TV that ends the 5 year warranty agreement that I purchased for $600 just 6 weeks ago. If I would have told him in 15 days, they would have swapped it out for free and I would still have the warranty. This wouldn't have even mattered since I mentioned I did not even really watch TV until I had it for 2 weeks. So basically I was sent a lemon from the start and it will cost me my $600, 5 year warranty on the same unreliable TV, but now this time I have no warranty? The Best Buy manager is currently trying to keep my 5 year warranty, but I have been waiting over a week with no response. I really do not want to get the same TV not having a warranty. Sony was so reliable, and now I have lost faith, time and money on what was supposed to be my dream TV. I cannot believe this TV has not been discontinued and everyone issued a full refund or free upgrade to the 2016 model, assuming it will actually work the way it is intended.

Don't take my word for this, either - but as indicated in 90% of _ALL_ reviews including the "other" site's - the issue with "bleeding" has NEVER been fixed. I purchased a 2015 model, #late! 2015, BTW# and had it NOT been for the fact that everyone who DID mention this flaw that stated theirs only got worse, I would've lived #settled# with the unit being as-is. But the bleeding light issue was indeed on my unit too, contrary to Sony claiming to have fixed it. For that kind of cash, there's NO way I would've sat around and waited for it to only get worse. RE: Picture Quality Sorry, I've got to disagree with those who rated it "up there" as in my case, I could _NEVER_ get the picture exactly the way I like it to be. Again, don't take my word for it, I CHALLENGE ANYONE to get the "blacks" to be _real_ "blacks" - AND "clear contrast" seemed the best I could do was set it so it appeared as though there was a slight film across the entire image. One of the DVDs from a famous "theme park" in Florida and one in Anaheim, about a kids bunch of toys coming to life do they have a *HX "tweak" or "setup" your image test images on the DVD. #One of the menu items, that is.# One of THOSE screens stated: "Note the two black bars on the left, and adjust the brightness/contrast so the black bar on the left disappears and the other is barely visible." - Which is supposed to represent the best you can adjust THOSE settings. End Result for ME#!# anyway - I couldn't FIND _ANY_ black bars on the screen at all. #Yes, on every other HD/UHD TV they DO show up, but NOT on this unit.# I turned mine back in to the store #thank goodness they took it back# for another 65" from another manufacturer. I'm VERY, VERY pleased with this "new" unit and am able to fine-tune the image to the way I prefer it to appear. Hold off on this unit they either fix it, or you'll be able to purchase for #likely 1/3 the price# when Sony recognizes that - that issue matters to an awful LOT of consumers and they're stuck with warehouses stacked with these units. Just a bad idea _IF_ you're discriminate over the quality of the picture you're getting from a unit costing THAT much. One final note: One of the DBS providers #SAT providers# will be launching "tons of 4K content in 2016" according to one of their techs but ultimately _STILL_ couldn't get the 4K content to come-up more than once or twice. #When it switches in between resolutions - you'll hear the relays making that clicking sound but your screen goes blank. - YES, I _do_ realize that - that DBS company is also having growing pains with 4K, but the issue lies with the UNIT and NOT their signal/DBS box. How do I know that? Streaming 4K from *etflicks was beautiful - so the unit WAS properly configured for 4K - it was just NOT consistent at displaying AT ALL > half the time! I should've taken a picture of the "bleeding" to post here for you to see what _EVERYONE_ is talking about, but the unit is now back in the warehouse where it belongs. At least do this: Research OTHER "reviews" and I'm 100% confident you'll see the EXACT same issues/results/reviews about it...hold off! I'm going to close with this: I _used_ to be NOTHING but a Sony-Flag-Waving customer, but this defect and it IS a "defect" that Sony appears to not care at all about - and for the $$ I was shelling was not going to be at my expense and viewing pleasure. Side Note: Anyone notice they dropped the price by $500#!!# too? Hmmmm, I wonder why.

    Horrendous light bleed in corners!

Out of the box, on the stand, powered up and went through setup questions...selected update software; which it did (and took almost an hour with a 30mb internet speed!) and was forced to sit and look at the WORST light bleed I've ever seen! Both left upper and lower corners, the bottom right about 4 inches to the left of the edge, and the top right have bright spots on what is supposed to be a 0 IRE all black background. $2500 for this? I think not! It's going back and they can muscle it back into the box because I'm not doing it. I wanted a 65" Samsung 4K UHD but they were out and didn't know when the next shipment would be in this close to the holiday so without doing any research like I did for the Samsung, (yeah...I'm an idiot) and based on the 4K video playing on the Sony I pulled the trigger...and shot myself right in the foot. There is NO corner to corner black, and for what this set cost?..it should be uniform and inky black. Sony you were horrible 10 years ago when I had one of your LCD projectors and you're still horrible now. Overpriced junk folks...stay away from Sony...at least this model. pffft

So I read all the negative reviews and thought about it as I stumbled into a display model missing the mini remote and the stand.. don't know why Best Buy can't not lose stands for tvs most displays end up missing stands but I digress... it had been on display for a while with a price of 1375... I showed them where it was now 1199 new on their own site and once we got the tv down off the top row of the wall saw the price was from July 2016. So after a bit of back and forth like buying a car the manager said 809 plus tax... so I agreed and took it home and threw it on my tv stand with a floating like wall mount. After the first update most of the light bleed went away there is just a little in the corner now as it is updating again I guess it won't go to newest update it does them one at a time... updates take a long time 30 mins with fast internet but the TV is great with the update it does 4K with HDR10. It will also do 3D if you buy the glasses and when you plug in the Xbox one S and check 4K compatibility all are green the brand new LG from this year and viZio from this year didn't get all check marks and this tv is from 2015. The fact that I can use all the apps many more than any other tv and I can use my PS4 controller as well to control the TV and play games on it with the PS4 controller is cool as well. The TV is the thinnest tv other than oled I have ever seen but picture wise with motion XR 960 you won't get blur at all with sports. If you spot this TV still for sale under 1000 bucks for 4K with HDR 10 65 inch TV you cannot pass it up

This television is amazing...err...well could have the potential for amazing. It has a beautiful picture and I love what I can do with the Android OS BUT...The light bleed is horrible. I bought one and it was too distracting to ignore. It was on both sides of the screen. I returned it and purchased it again and it came without light bleed on the left and minimal on the right. I was excited, but over a little time the light bleed worsened and it became too problematic to ignore. So again I'm waiting for my 2nd replacement....Three times a charm. I'm hoping this one comes with the light bleed problem resolved as Sony has claimed although some light bleed is "normal." If it was just a little here and there I wouldn't mind too much but it's too much to enjoy the great quality of the product. Wish me luck everyone. I have a question though. Has anyone received this product with no light bleed? I'm curious to know if it exists. I'm trying to be hopeful

Purchased this TV today. Ultra excited about the picture and how thin the TV was. Got it home and found out my neighbor had been told by one of the sales guys about the light bleed and opted not to buy it. Our sales guy didn't even bother to mention it. So I start going through the reviews and see that it is something that plagues this series. I'm disappointed and more than upset that now I have to re-package the TV and get it back to Best Buy so that I can now buy the Samsung. That's the one I was going to purchase to begin with. SMH!!! This would have been my first Sony product.

I bought a 900C and the white display bleeding around the edges was horrendous! There was so much bleeding I thought it had to be defective so I had the TV replaced with another 900C. The second 900C was a touch better, but still ridiculous. It is beyond me how a TV that costs $3500 can have such an annoying issue like this. I wanted to buy a Sony this time after have a Samsung. I may have to go back to Samsung. If not for the heavy display bleeding from around the bottom of this TV, I would stick with this Sony. When the lights are down low and you get a black screen (like the Netflix initial screen), the white bleeding is horrible. Its so bad, your eyes automatically move to the inconsistency of Black color due to the bleeding. Sony, You have to get this right!!

After several months of research, and reading many negative reviews we made the decision to purchase the 900C TV. It helped to know Sony recalled the TV's with the screen light problem. The TV has vibrant colors and clarity and a thin lightweight frame on the wall. It was a good decision to purchase it.
