Okay TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The edge lit backlighting bleeds through the bottom. It results in a foggy display. The brightness is also very low. I returned this TV and went with the Vizio P series and I am very happy with that decision.

I regret buying this television
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV only works when it wants to. It utilizes an Android operating system that isn't very stable. There have been several messages pop up with vague descriptions telling why the TV won't work at a particular time. Each description has been different than the one that preceded it. I bought this TV based on the performance of a previous Sony TV and I do not like the quality control of Samsung's appliances and TV's. I decided on a Sony too quickly and should have done more research. Sony's quality has really taken a nose dive in the last five years.

Horrible Remote Terrible Menus
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well I'm going to tell you right off the bat the TV wasn't horrible the picture wasn't horrible but the remote was something you don't want to write home about unless you want to complain. The menus for the TV.....not good at all. There were three settings banks....3!!!! Shouldn't all the settings be in one place? I think so. Not only that but for all the buttons on the remote it should have a backlight so you can see what you're doing without having a turn on the light every time you want to hit a button.....bought an LG much simpler!

BOOM! SONY did it again!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.WOW! I thought 4K TV will be almost useless when viewing 10 feet away, but to my surprise, I can tell the difference. I had to replace a 16 month old 70" Sharp Aquos Q+ TV because of a horizontal line from top to bottom. I was glad to purchase the Geek Squad Protection. It was a simple exchange and I was looking at the Sony or the Samsung. Sony was clear and Samsung was bright. I rather have clear overall and also the Sony XBR-65X850D integrated very well with the Playstation 4 and AppleTV. I love the apps that comes already in the Sony XBR-65850D like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Vudo, Ultra, YouTube, Pandora, I Heart Radio, and many many more. I hard wire the TV and have no issues with connectivity. Set up was a breeze after a 10 minutes update. I had to make minor adjusts to the picture and color to fit my needs with the room. I have the TV linked with my Yamaha receiver but I also purchase the Sony HTCT390 soundbar and wire subwoofer to go with the TV, because sometime I don't want to run the whole entertainment system. The stock TV speaker were not as crisp as the my old Sharp that's why I decided to get the Sony HTCT390. The Soundbar and Playstation 4 works well with the TV to turn it on or off. No more grabbing several remotes. The remote is voice activated for some functions like YouTube. I have not played around with what other voice activities it can do. Picture is fabulous! No motion blur in sports (football, golf, soccer and baseball). 4K is excellent! Apps works perfectly! Once my Directv contract is up, hello Playstation Vue. That app is built in the TV too. I also downloaded the Sony app to my iPhone 7 and it works great too. What I love about Best Buy is the price!!! I was able to exchange and the following day the TV went lower in price. Best Buy price matched it! AWESOME!!!!

No more Sony TVs for me! Doesn't last 2 years!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony is known for delivering a high quality picture, but a $1300 TV should last for a few years! We purchased this 65" Sony less than 2 years ago, the HDMI ports have all already failed! Best Buy quoted us $589 to replace the main board, but also said that they have more repair calls for Sony TVs than any other brand. Sony is too expensive for a tv that doesn't even last 2 years. Apparently, this is not an uncommon problem, and I am done with Sony. Hello Samsung or Vizio!

Terrible blacks and motion!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly I returned this TV after less than one week. The blacks were absolutely horrible as was the motion while watches sports. My 5 year old Pioneer Elite Plasma outperformed this "technology" hands down. I will be awaiting the arrival of Sony's second generation of Organic LEDs to drop next year before I jump back into the market.

Excellent TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What should be told here is that "high end" TVs are subject to their own warranty judgements . If something goes wrong you could be without a TV for several weeks . The Best Buy protection plan should have a caveat . If you purchase a five-year plan and something happens in year one , the remaining years are no longer valid and cannot be used toward the next purchase .

Great TV except for Movies
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After reading tons of reviews and looking at a bunch of demos in store, I finally decided on the 65" 850D. Overall a fantastic set for almost everything, except for watching movies in a dimly lit or dark room. Superior upscaling to any other set I've looked at. The processor really does a great job turning even average cable signals into great looking picture. It also handles motion quite well with decent lag and great results for both sports and video games. Good: -Great picture in brightly lit rooms -Great motion handling -Android app system is excellent with tons of useful apps -Some of the best picture control options of any TV I've tried. -Super thin bezel -Easy to wall mount with included screws -Most of the inputs are side facing (See bad points below as all are not side facing!) However with the good there are some bad aspects, some of which where just too great to overcome and resulted in my returning the TV and exchanging it for the Samsung KS8000, which so far has more than overcome the negatives of the Sony. Bad for 850D: -no local dimming, so fairly bad contrast with very grey blacks -abysmal dark room performance with cloudy bleed in every dark scene -awful remote. Very basic design and hard to use without looking directly at it in the light. What is up with the huge Netflix logo, it makes me feel like Sony is renting out space on their remotes (which I'm sure they are!) -4K up conversion only in movie mode -single rear facing HDMI port. With many people wall mounting TV's these days and wanting as flush a fit as possible it seems silly to have any rear facing inputs. There are also a few other rear facing ports, most notable to me is the TOSLINK which also faces rearward. Not a problem for stand mounted TV's but if you want flush mount and need any of these ports beware. Overall a nice set and if you never plan to watch in a darkened room it is a great choice, but once those lights dim or go out there are better options (Samsung KS8000, Vizio P series and of course if you can afford it the LG OLED's). I've had the Samsung for a week now and am very happy with the picture, especially in a darkened room, but miss some of the adjustability of the Sony, and it's superior upscaling. Short of jumping up to the OLED however, I think I'll stick with my Samsung KS8000 for now.

Loved my old sony but this one was crap!
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Sony lasted 3 weeks. It developed white horizontal streaks that obscured much of the picture and was unwatchable. I was very disappointed and returned it for a refund. Kept watching my old 2007 Sony for 2 more years before it died at 12-1/2 years Then I bought the Samsung Q80 65"

Had last years model
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First I want to say that I would like to say that the only reason I have this TV is because of the awesome customer service from the best buy staff. I originally started out with last years model (with the silver frame) that did not have HDR and did not have Android. I was having an issue with light bleed so I called the geek squad. They came to my house inspected the TV and authorized an exchange under the manufacturer warranty and I had the two year extended warranty and did not have to use it. The TV was fantastic I was very happy with it except the light bleed. I was expecting to get the same model. However best buy no longer had that model, and I honestly was a little disappointed because it was a fantastic television. I went into the local best buy to look at my options. I was looking for something in the same price range and was not going to spend any more that what I had already spent. I was shown this model and was very impressed the HDR makes a big difference. everything is more colorful and vibrant. For my eyes it looks true to life and not over saturated like Samsungs are to me. This TV was almost 300 more than what I had originally spent, but best buy took care of everything and I did not have to pay anything more. They delivered and picked up the old TV. I have had it only a week, but I am very happy with the ease of setup and the picture features it provides. After calibrating the television further it looks even better than it does on the in store demo (you honestly don't even have to calibrate it at all out of the box.). This TV is connected to my entire entertainment system and works flawlessly. I am very pleased with this TV and also best buys customer service. I highly recommend Sony over others because of the true to life colors and image quality.

Worth every cent...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am 24 hours in and this TV is amazing. In terms of aesthetics, I love how thin it is. It really hugs the wall (I have it mounted) and looks exceptional. I have a very wide room and a very large couch that allows for viewing at pretty extreme angles. I was on the verge of buying a Samsung when I read a couple reviews of that set saying the viewing experience was negatively impacted when viewing at angles and this set was better for that experience. I was not led astray; neither picture clarity nor color suffer at any angle. The picture is crystal clear. I read a lot of reviews and saw some complaints about light bleeding; I don't have this problem at all. Bright room or dark room it is consistently great. It isn't difficult to set up. The doesn't have the aesthetics of the TV, but it is intuitive, which is the most important part. Navigating back and forth between apps and cable is seamless and easy. I can't speak to the sound because I have a sound bar.

HD and UHD TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV bounces in and OUT of High definition. At first I changed all my HDMI cables, and also noticed the same effect of Netflix (which is direct from the TV- streaming) Many UHD and HD channels the color goes from good clarity to poor clarity,

Poor Choice for HD TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product has a manufacturer defect with the volume and for HD, the picture is not as clear as I had anticipated. Disappointed in Sony
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been a loyal customer to the Sony brand for years. I am so disappointed in this TV. The unit frequently requires rebooting (unplugging and plugging back in) and is quite buggy. No more Sony TVs for my household.
