Never Sony again!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did my reviews on TV and ended up buying a Sony XBR65x850C in 2016. The picture was good, and the Best Buy people told me it was the best choice!. Now, looking back to almost having it a year, I can clearly say: Never Sony again! The reason is that the Sony interface is the worst! I have to connect this TV every second time I turn it on back to the internet or it give us error messages. Read up on Sony's issues, it's a nightmare. The TV has all current Sony updates and it's a disaster. If you want to enjoy the interconnectivity to Netflix or Amazon Prime, make sure you buy a Roku stick with the TV. As I said, the Sony interface is a disaster, sluggish, and connectivity to the internet a nightmare (I have high speed router sitting right next to the TV) Will never buy a Sony again. Don't be fooled by Best Buy Sales people who try to sell you the Sony. I have also a Panasonic Plasma at home, never had an issue with it.

Not even HD. So disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.after going to the store to buy a LG tv we saw this and were recommended it by the sales rep as a much better tv for sports which was why we were buying it. However now having it for 2 days it is terrible for sports on Verizon fios and the picture is not even basic HD let alone upscale. We had a 55 inch Vizio m series for 3 yearss which was so much better. When watching soccer, all the lines are blurred and players are a bit fuzzy from distance. This was not the case on our old tv. I have tried to play around with the settings but nothing has fixed the problems. Very disappointing as I bought this for the super bowl but now will likely have to watch it in blurry picture mode. Also the remote that came with the tv did not work so had to trek back to Best Buy to get anew one. I had never bought anything Sony other than PlayStations and won't be rushing back again.

Nice but horrible contrast and screen
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A lot of light bleeding and bad contrast. Lots of gray and not much black. The screen you can see waves in the picture as if it was rolled up then made into a TV. Also its so thin that hanging the 65" is VERY scary and feels like its going to bend and break. I still have not figured out the HDR but when its on HDR the picture is not as well as you would think.

Sony Missed Oportunity
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this Set to Replace a FALD (Full Array Local Diming) 1080P XBR TV which at the time is the cream of the crop in blacks without going to a OLED Display. Pros: Excellent Colors, Very Bright for HDR. Cons: Light Bleed, Flashlighting in Bottom Right Hand Corner. Blacks are Terrible at least compared to my Old 1080P set. Black are more like Medium Gray. I wish I would have picked up the 930 series at least it had edge lit local dimming. It looked good in the store and was onsale at the time I went to order it and ofcourse it is sold out. So I purchased the new 2017 900E series which according to Sony's info is a FALD, Full Array Local Dimming. Remember that OLED is Great for reproducing Black but it cannot produce the Brightest Whites like LED lit LCD sets so, HDR programming will be limited on a OLED set commpared to a LCD/LED. If this is being used in a BAR or Commercial Setting it would work fine but for a Home Setting.

TV picture is not at all what I expected...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After spending 1 month looking at different tv's... finally bought the 65x850d and soooooo disappointed.... i have an old 10 year sony bravia which has much better picture then this tv. The old sony outperforms the new one in every aspect ... except maybe brightness. I had the 2 tvs next to each other playing netflix shows... marco polo, the walking dead and other... connecting same way...switching connections etc... The old tv is set to standard picture mode.... the new i tried every possible picture mode. Tried custom seetings... still the old picture is so much better..... so disapointed.... dark scenes suck... detail is lost... the old one after 10 years has a much better colors... I am going to spend another week comparing and likely going to return it..... no idea which one i will buy,.... SONY - tumbs way down.... if anyone knows any customs settings...pls help...

Unable to get black black, too much light bleed.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this 850D after long research, was on the fence on getting the 750D or 850D. I've had it for 3 days, and I'm not happy with it. Planning to return it, to exchange for 750D. My reason: 850D has side lighting, which is god awful! 750D has back lighting, which makes blacks blacker. I did look in the store side by side, 750D/850D. My mom and I agreed that 750D did look better. 850D definitely isn't better for me. Light bleed bothered me the most whenever letterbox format came up, you can see the light coming through the screen, like a light fog. Now however, I had learned that if you stretch the video format to wide, getting rid of the letterbox, the picture did improve drastically. However, the fact that I don't feel like the images pop out at me, because of the light "haze".

Horrible Customer Service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had this TV for 45 days. After having issues with the TV starting found out that the motherboard was bad. Took over 5 hours on the phone with Sony of me playing Sony repairman to figure this out. I did buy the extended warranty so Best Buy said they would fix my $2200.00 TV in a week. I didn't think this was acceptable after only having the TV for the short period of time. I had to call Sony to get my own RGA to return the TV to Best Buy which I think is ridiculous. Currently I am still waiting for another call back from the Sonyto get the RGA. If you purchase this TV make sure you get the extended warranty. I thought it would be better quality being that it was a Sony but it isn't. I would recommend spending less on another brand. The Geek Squad service was great. The Best Buy in store service is horrible.

Lacks pic quality, and light bleeds.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally got the samsung 8000 suhd tv. Loved the t.v. but it was defective. So I called bestbuy for an exchange for the same t.v. The customer service recommended the Sony and said it was way better than the samsung....I'm not tech savvy so I took there word for it....Nope! Wrong! ....it was in no way better than the samsung in my opinion. The picture quality was lacking in color to brightness. The blacks were not black. More of a greyish. And it light bled all around the screen. Very unhappy with the Sony 850, I immediately called and exchanged it for another samsung 8000 suhd. What a diffence....I did play with the color settings and pic settings on the Sony to no avail. Glad I got my samsung back.....

Get with the times Sony
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV 4/24/16. The problems with this TV stem from the edge lit array its old tech that needs to go away from a TV that is over $2500. I was watching the Martian and every dark scene was just a sea of muddled grays that would seem to flicker and become very distracting while watching. I returned the TV 5/1/16 and bought the LG OLED65E6P (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-65-class-64-5-diag--oled-2160p-smart-3d-4k-ultra-hd-tv-with-high-dynamic-range-black/5010000.p?id=bb5010000&skuId=5010000) it's $3500 more but as I learned you get what you pay for.
