#1 pick
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My husband and I have always been big fans of LG products. Our LG smart tv started having issues and of course the wonderful Geek Squad swapped it out for us. Unfortunately, they did not have our model anymore so they found us this comparable tv. I can honestly say, I am beside myself at the difference in clarity this tv had compared to our LG. It had all the same specs, but it is just BETTER! I love this tv, and am so glad we got the help and supprt we needed to make a great decision!

Excellent 4K HDTV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was specifically looking for a 4K TV that had HDR as one of the specs to go with the Xbox One S. I saw this TV and a few other brands in the store. I compared them all, and this TV was by far the best in quality in the picture. I've had it for almost a week so far and tweaked the settings to my liking. I am still amazed at the picture definition it produces. I'm extremely happy with the TV.

Nice Picture
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The TV has real good picture. It's brighter and shows more details than my older 1080 tv. Streaming is a big plus too. I have an older audio receiver that uses RCA jacks so I had to buy a cheap adapter to make it work with the TV. If your receiver has hdmi or optical audio, you should be fine. Overall I'm really pleased with the TV. Wait for it to go on sale. I bought it and the price went down $100 30 days later and they wouldn't price match because it was past the 15 day period.

Fit for dinosaurs...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.4K TV's have become the new standard, and it shows! 50" HD TV producing 1080p can be found for $500 or less now, so I won't be boasting about the resolution. And rather bore you with topics like refresh rate, lighting, and color, I'm just going to mention something that is often overlooked... the ports. Ports are essential for hooking things up to your TV. With the ever increasing digital app world, inputs are becoming less and less relevant. But for those of you whom have amassed quite the collection of Blu-Rays and possibly DVD's and just can't let go of them, you'll probably want to be able to hook up that $300 Blu Ray player from eleven years ago. Well the Sony XBR-65X850D comes fully equipped with several ports of various types to support your "old" Millennial tech. On the back panel there is one component (RCA) port, This is the Yellow (video), white & red (audio) cables; one composite input (Red/White for audio, and Red//Blue/Green for video for a total of 5 cables) which doubles up as a 2nd component port if you wish; one optical port, and one HDMI port (supports CEC). On the side of the back panel there are 3 additional HDMI ports (one which supports Audio Return Channel (ARC)), 3 USB ports (two USB 2.0 ports and one USB 3.0 port), and a headphone/subwoofer jack. There is no VGA port, so for all you HTPC lovers, sorry, you can't have a 65" monitor here. There is however an Ethernet port so you can connect to your network, you'll just need download a file manager app to access it. So there you have, think about all the prehistoric millennial tech you want to hook up to your TV, and see if this one will suit your needs. Who knows, it may just support your dinosaurs... Remember, audio/video signals are only as good as it's weakest link. While the TV can upscale the input, it can only do so much. Don't rig up some way to play those old home VCD's and expect a high definition picture. Even things like the HDMI cables can mean the difference between 720p/1080p (HDMI) and 4K (High Speed HDMI). While on the note of HDMI Cables, don't go blowing your money on really expensive ones. Cables in general are pretty low tech, they do nothing but transfer power/data. Look for quality in materials (gold connection tips) and at the connectors (where the cable meets the HDMI head) as these are the areas that should justify increases in price. For those of you who do care about the boring technical specs, highlights of the 65x850D include: Wi-Fi Certified 802.11a/b/g/n/ac; supports bluetooth connectivity; Google Cast; Miracast; and iOS/Android smartphone connectivity; USB Playback Codecs include: MPEG, AVI, MOV, MKV, MP3, MP4, WAV, WMA, AAC, FLAC, JPEG; The backlighting is edge lit; native motion rate is 120 Hz; HDR capable; two 10W speakers (Dolby/DTS supported); and a 4K processor. The TV is definitely one that's better than average and it's ability to retain it's margin reflects this. Despite the 850E already released, the price of the 850D is maintaining it's ground.
