Great TV for the price!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV is amazing for the cost point. Are there better TVs...yes. Is there a better TV for this price point....no. Picture is great! No lag or judder. I bought the Samsung JU6500 ($200 more) and took it back the next morning for this. This TV is IT for people on a budget for a 4k TV.

New TV review - it's pretty awesome!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony 65" does what I need. I had a 7 year old Toshiba 55" that finally bit the dust. Replaced it with this. It doesn't take up much more wall (mounted) space than the old TV, but the side bezels are much smaller and of course the screen is SO MUCH SHARPER! It has very low input lag for gaming and in general looks like it'll be good for many years. The TV itself is great. Android under the hood, so I can Cast and interact with other Android devices. It has Netflix and other apps like HBO Now, Amazon, Plex, etc for media viewing needs. Connect to Google for app store and games. Being Sony branded it also allows for PS4 game controllers to be synched to the TV. It was an unexpected compatibility bonus, and I might even get an additional controller with the keyboard module to ease searches and stuff. We mounted the TV on the wall (had a mounting kit already) but the new TV's screw size was smaller than the old TV - and it didn't come with any hardware. I had to find the correct size screw to get it mounted. We chose to hard-wire the TV into my network instead of using WiFi. It loads Netflix and other media MUCH FASTER than the Kindle Fire (which I still have plugged into an HDMI port of course). I like this TV because it does NOT have a microphone or camera on it. I don't need my TV that smart or invasive in my life. My only complaint about this is not a TV or manufacturer issue, it's a BestBuy online issue. They QUADRUPLE CHARGED ME for the TV when purchased. It was ridiculous to wake up to that the following morning after finally deciding and ordering it. Their support people DID resolve the issue that day, but man, not the way I wanted to start my Saturday morning. ;-)

Recent Sony purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Went to my local bestbuy in Springfield OR. Had an associate names Joe walk me though multiple options. He was very knowledgable and didn't push me into a specific brand. Ended up Purchasing this Sony model for $1499 which was roughly the same price as other 65' displays. The one thing I wasn't aware of until looking at all the options is that most brands advertise a 120hz HD which is the software of the unit, while the panels themselves are only 60hz. Supposedly this is common marketing practice for all HDTVs. So most 240hz are really 120hz panels with 240hz software. If you're watching sports and/or gaming you'll want to buy an HDTV where the 'panel' itself is 120hz, not just the software and advertising. All of Sony's 'panels' start at 120hz, and for the money this looked to be the best value. Brands in general have lower quality products as entry level to hit price points. Since most people buy TVs every 4-5 years, best to pay a little more and get a level above entry if you can afford it. Picture is amazing, set up was super easy, and a few days into using it, the entire family is happy. Watched sports, gamed, DVDs, etc. Our other TVs are Samsung, which when we purchased we thought we the best picture. My only compliant which is minor is the TV stand are a different design and the instructions are poor. I found a YouTube video which showed the proper installation in about 15 seconds knew exactly how to install it. Once installed it's sturdy.

Amazing Tv!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The only thing I find pointless is the 2160p.. When I set the tv up the highest option was 1080p. And almost all tv stations don't broadcast in 4K. Also the sound is typical to any other tv.. So I plan on getting a sound bar/surround sound. Other than that the picture is clear and looks great on the wall!

Great TV and I do not care about 3D on a TV.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love Sony products as the picture is the sharpest on the market. I have owned nothing but Sony there was one time I bought a Samsung and it lasted less than 5 years. I am retired and no longer working so a TV is something I get allot of use from. If I get 8 years that is fine with me,

So far so good.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Researched TVs for a week before buying. Was looking at all 65" but it came down to the video m series and the Sony. 1500 for 65" 4k with the pic quality and features this TV has its hard to beat. Pros/cons Picture is definitely good but needs adjusted slightly. Colors are off a bit. The 4k is nice when watching 4k material. If you're upscaling it doesn't look any different at all. I dunno if I'm missing something but it looks exactly the same as the original source, which has to be 1080p before it will even upscale. The Android software runs pretty good I must say but it does freeze and you have to hold the power button until you see it restart. You can't run just any app or game though so be aware of that. The screen does have slightly dark corners. The bezel is also very cheap feeling plastic and doesn't feel like it's on very well. Overall it's worth the money and offers the best picture for the price and size.

This TV is Awesome.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture is amazing, even the dogs do double takes. At first the sound appeared to be a little weak like some other reviewers said, but I tried a different audio source than the Phone/TV/Cable box, and found out it was not the TV, but it was the station/provider.

Quality Control is lacking
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went through 2 sets before giving up. The first set had 2 vertical lines (about 2 inches thick) from top to bottom of the screen that was visible during dark scenes. The second set had horrendous clouding (I expect a little) but this was so bad, in a dark scene, it looked like the screen had a frosty glowing border. If Sony could eliminate these types of defects, the overall picture was great. I have ordered the 65X800B model to give Sony one last try. It is an older model (late 2014), but it similar to the 850B model (which I already own).

Awesome picture and easy to use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Sony over the Samsung because I have always had good luck with Sony TV's. This T.V. is excellent except that every couple of days the color turns green and I have to unplug the T.V. to get the color back. This is a huge inconvenience since I have to pull my whole cabinet out to unplugit. I'm debating on returning it to Best Buy.

Over-the-air HDTV tuner is poor
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TV is nice, but we returned it because the HDTV tuner is weak. I have an older Sony 32" Bravia and it has no trouble locking on to 18 stations using a mid-range amplified HDTV antenna. Using the same antenna with this 65" TV, it will scan the same 18 stations but it cannot lock onto the station. The station will cut in and out or freeze with goobers on the screen. Basically unusable if using for over-the-air HDTV. Returned this Sony and replaced it with a Samsung 7000 series and the Samsung works perfectly on over-the-air HDTV. For reference, I'm using a Winegaurd Flatware Amplified Indoor HDTV antenna.

Disapointing Picture Quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Close up images look great on this TV, but once the camera zooms out, any kind of motion makes the objects look blurry and fuzzy. Watching any sports is terrible, no matter what picture setting is chosen or with motion flow off or on. I have tried everything to get a decent clear picture, but can't. Even cartoon motion looks terrible! I called Sony and they responded promptly and walked me through adjusting settings and doing a factory reset on the TV, which did not help. Sony then told me they would send me a new TV after they reviewed pictures of the issue I sent them. After reviewing the pictures, they say the blur is normal and there is nothing they can do except forward my case to customer relations. A blurry picture may be normal for a Sony, but the 5 year old 55" Toshiba LED that it replaced did not have this issue. This will be returned to Best Buy and I will look for a better quality TV from a different manufacturer that knows that a blurry picture is not normal. Sadly disappointed in Sony quality and support.

Wait for OLED prices to drop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony 810 is a good TV, however I was going to upgrade from a 50 inch Panasonic Plasma. We have a large room that is better suited for a 65 inch or larger set. I only gave 3 stars because I'm comparing it to the Plasma we were going to replace. The problem is not with Sony, but with the technology. 4K resolution is fantastic, but its still back lit LCD technology. The 10 year old Plasma still trumps this unit in image quality. Our receiver has 2 HDMI outputs so it was fairly easy to compare them both side by side with the same source. There is no doubt the Plasma is better. As a result, we have returned the Sony and will wait until OLED comes down in price since OLED is actually a new technology... better pixels, not just more of them.

Annoying ghosting in corners
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just bought the tv on Friday and wall mounted. Great picture except for ghosting on the corners. Does not have an owner's manual that you can actually read. Called customer service since a feature did not appear to be working. After an hour on the phone, finally figured it out that that feature is available by what component you have plugged in. Ie didn't work on DirecTV input but worked on DVD input. If I had a manual that I could physically hold onto and flip through the pages, would have saved some heartache for me and the tech. Football was great and then I watched a show that was dvr'd. The ghosting in the corners was quite noticeable on the blacks. I paused the picture and tried all kinds of settings but it would not go away. Packed up the tv and took it back to Best Buy. We were going to get a different model but they did a return instead of an exchange so we have to wait for our account to get credited. Well we won't be buying the next one from Best Buy.

Beautiful TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I scored this TV at my local store and received a great deal on an open box item. I can't tell you how happy I am with the TV. Great picture, easy setup. I would definitely recommend this TV if you are looking for a great deal on a 4K TV.

Great Value from a Great Brand
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm an avid tech geek. Almost always an early adopter of new technology. I've been waiting for the 4K sets to come down in price and at $1499/on sale, this TV is a steal. The picture quality is nothing short of amazing. I love that AndroidTV is built in. My favorite feature is the ability to use Pandora with the TV screen off, a very smart feature Sony included.

Fantastic TV, great value, not perfect
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this TV so far. I've had it for a month. It's a great price for a 4K TV. The picture is amazing (but I'm upgrading from a 10-year-old TV so everything looks amazing to me. The TV has solid construction. My only complaint is that the TV seems to interact inconsistently with my amp/receiver. Both units have "ARC" technology which is supposed to allow the two units to communicate with each other (for example, when I turn on the TV it is supposed to automatically turn on the receiver for me). And it works 80% of the time, but 20% of the time, I turn on the TV and it doesn't turn on the receiver automatically. I don't know why. Nor is it a big deal (oh no! I have to push one more button! Talk about your first-world problems). It's just a weird imperfection.
