Dead in less than 45 days
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When it worked, this was a great TV. But after a ten day vacation it would not power on. Reading online, other people have had the same issue when it has been off for multiple days. (See Sony Community online.) Sony sent a new power block to no avail. Then Sony exchanged it for a 900E, which I'm not convinced is equivalent (the picture is obviously not as good, which is what i bought an expensive new TV for). You have to remove it from the wall and put the new one up yourself. They will not pay for another calibration. I should have fought for a 930E or a refund. And my fingers are nervously crossed for my next vacation! For an expensive item, it is not worth the risk and hassle. Get a Samsung.

User Interface is horrific
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Been using my new 4k tv for several months, here's what you need to know before purchasing. First, the picture is phenomenal...it is the best that you can buy at any price. Ok, now the bad news. The user interface is beyond horrible and the thin design can easily break the screen simply from squeezing the screen with your hand (mine actually broke and had to returned). Want to see what's on the channel for the next half day...normally you simply check, then if interested...you program the timer to turn to that channel at the designated time. No can do. The user interface is just horrible...go into the store and try the remote. There's an insanity of choices on the wheel: tv, action menu, guide, home, discover & back...I dare you to memorize what each does. Simply can't be done. Do not buy for elderly!! They will never figure it out. Again, the picture is the best but it is nearly impossible to tell the difference between 2K upscaled by this tv and 4k native. No need to buy a 4k player as this upscaler is top notch. Not for children or babies as they will certainly grab the thin screen edge...once the edge goes, the whole tv is nonfunctional with green lines that cut across the screen. I have one. I enjoy one. But buyer beware as this is a tv just waiting to die from a broken screen. Netflix interface is great. Colors are superb. 4K is to die for. But quality and GUI is simply horrible. How can a product rate as 5 stars and 1 star simultaneously. And the Sony rep at BestBuy tried to underplay what actually broke on my screen. Really.

Excellent Tv
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Once you tweak it to your likings the Tv is phenomenal. I can`t say enough good things about it. I had Directv over and had 4k installed and love it. You can`t go wrong buying this set. I had Panasonics 7 year old flagship plasma and this blows it out of the water!!!!

Defective television
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this supposedly top of the line Sony tv as a splurge for 50 th wedding anniversary. After 3 months of use, the tv would not turn on. Came back to BestBuy and spoke with a manager, was curtly told since we didn’t purchase extended warranty from Best Buy they had no responsibility. Called Sony, went through having new adapter send, service repairman with nothing working. After refusing a reconditioned downgrade replacement, a new tv was delivered in Jan 2017. After 10 months of use with the replacement, the same issue has surfaced again. I expected more from a 3,000 television and from a once respected company. Customers service horrible. Can’t depend on information being given. Buyers beware. There is obviously a defect in this model and technology. This has been and is very stressful. Just feel I have been taken by Sony. They have my money and after 10 months of use I have nothing. Doesn’t seem fair to me.

Waste of money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't waste your time with this TV. There's a reason it's still on sale. The picture quality is decent at best. I've had this TV for about 3 weeks and I'm returning it. One night the remote just stopped working, I tried using my harmony elite remote and that wouldn't work either. After trying for 10 minutes it started working again. The smart interface is slow and buggy it's ridiculous. Last night was the last straw though. The TV wouldn't even turn on!! I unplugged and plugged it back in 26 times before it finally turned on and then I had to wait another 30 seconds while it booted up.

Disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just bought this TV a few weeks ago and it is without a doubt a quality TV. I love the user interface with android for streaming netflix, amazon video and hulu. However, there is a lot of clouding in the corners of the TV that show up when the screen is black when credits are scrolling or darker scenes. Additionally I am now seeing it all the time on all four corners throughout regular programming. This is a big concern and ultimately a deal breaker. If anyone has any recommendations on how to fix this issue i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Unhappy Birthday
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this (65" 930D) as a birthday present to myself and it's turned into a big headache. I've been a dedicated Sony customer my entire life, which is why I can't believe what I'm seeing. The 65" clearly has terrible 3D, which I have experienced first-hand and found to be well documented online. It was a HUGE disappointment, but the most disappointing thing is that neither BestBuy nor Sony have acknowledged the issue or committed to resolving it. I have less than a week to decide whether to bail on Sony, BestBuy, or both. I'm trying to work through the store GM but, like I said, neither Sony nor BestBuy have even acknowledged that it's a problem, so I'm not optimistic. All I wanted was a great TV for my birthday :-( P.S. My TV also arrived with a bent frame, which is another very common complaint about this exact size and model TV.

Lemon
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Television worked, albeit with sluggishly slow software, for nearly 8 months then suddenly stopped working. Won't power on at all despite troubleshooting efforts and this seems to be a commonly occurring problem issue with this television. After three calls totaling roughly 4 hours with Sony support, they'll be ordering replacement parts and sending out a technician within a 2-3 week time frame. Meanwhile, football season is starting and my $2700 television is hanging on the wall unable to be powered on. To top it off, I'm responsible for removing the television from the wall mount for the technician to service. From what I'm able to read, most users continue to experience problems after repairs so I'm looking forward to continuing this struggle in my attempts to get a refund or battle Sony when they offer to replace with an inferior television. Looking forward to spending my holiday season in Best Buy telling folks to opt for Samsung or LG. I understand that faulty products happen, but Sonys utter incompetence and unwillingness to rectify given that this product is clearly a lemon is unacceptable.

Sony TV XBR-65X930D
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had this Sony tv model XBR-65X930D for 5 years. It’s worked well until today. Will not power on, totally dead. It has a defect, Sony extended it as under warranty to make repair due to defect. The defect warranty extension ends 1/2022 Loved the TV when it worked. Not recommending due to know defects.

65 inch Curved TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very excited when I saw this TV in store as it has a great picture and just seemed like a great set. However once I got home I found that my TV had a plethora of issues. Found this on AVSforums does a great job of explaining all the issues. https://youtu.be/aDsw7j1unsE

Power Failure
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At 1 year and 20 days the TV died. ZERO power. Unfortunately, I did not buy the protection plan. However, I was able to find out that Sony has an extended warranty on the part. From what I read on the internet, the part is back ordered for months. The TV sits blank in my living room. I will never buy Sony again.

refrain buying from this so called high end TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I initially bought a samsung 65 inch 8000 model, but had low brightness on HDMI when PC connected. So I wanted a different brand like Sony and paid $500 more and bought the 65 inch sony 930d for $2000. I had not returned the samsung, so I had a chance to compare the two TVs side by side. I expected Sony would do better. When I watched 4k movies from youtube, I have observed that Sony was missing so much detail although color were better. The HDMI input look brighter. But on the other hand, the sound quality were so bad compared to Samsung. I did not want to invest in another $200 dolar on top of the extra $500, so I had to return the sony. I cannot believe Sony could not outperform the Samsung 8000.. I also heard although sony had 3d, it had issues. So I had to return it. It is a shame for Sony

If it could be lower than ONE star it would.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this tv from BEST BUY on Jan 28 of this year. Before six weeks went by, there were issues. The tv would power off with no prompting. We called. Customer service kept us on phone for over an hour. Got it back on. Then, it renewed its software and rebooted. Once that happened we lost all sound. Only had picture. Called Sony. Less than understandable customer service- not sure where we called, but nevertheless, after speaking to two or three people they were once again, able to get it going. It took over two hours on that call. Within a couple of weeks - problem again. Asked for new tv. It was less than three months old. Was told NO. "They have procedures," I was told. They again went remotely into this (questionably) smart tv and got it to respond. It worked - for four weeks, maybe. This happened again and again, when asked, was flatly denied a new tv. Two weeks ago it went out again, but with a message about a part being faulty. Called Sony. Told them the message. They responded the same. Had to spend an hour or more on the tv troubleshooting. Tv unresponsive. Asked for new tv. Was told no. Had to have repair person come out. Repair person comes out. Changes parts that Sony ordered. Tv doesn't work. Nothing. He called Sony and let them know that the parts were ineffective in correcting the problems. I am there, so I speak to a nice person named Barry in technical suooort and he tells me they will replace the tv. However, he says that he can replace my tv with a refurbished tv. REALLY?! NO. It was a new tv five months ago, and I surely do not want someone else's problems refurbished. He elevates my call to national customer service. I am told that "had I asked for new tv within the first 90 days" - I cut the nice woman off and insisted on a new tv. I wasn't profane and I wasn't ugly with her. But I was very direct. She left me on hold for five minutes. New TV- will be coming by courier within five days. But then I was told that the new tv would only have the remainder of the first tv's warranty. That means that in six months, I will have no warranty. Unacceptable. It was another process to work through. But finally got Sony on page. This was a new purchase ( our last tv was still working after ten years-and still is. We just wanted to update) and it was NOT a cheap purchase. $2100 and change. I am looking forward to the new one. It no longer has 3D. Good! I have a feeling that 3D doesn't suit this tv. I think maybe it could have been the problem since the new model (2017) doesn't have it. Bottom line - learn your repair reference number and have plenty of phone time if you buy this particular tv. (We spent over 18 hours on telephone calls and tv repair time.) We had read all the reviews - great five star reviews on BEST BUY- before buying. I have to wonder about that because this TV model is truly a lemon.

Defective power cord; poor Sony customer service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Been waiting 2 weeks for a replacement power cord from Sony. Originally told I would receive one in 3-5 days. After hearing or receiving nothing for 8 days I called and I was told the cord is on back order and it would be at least another week. They are not even fully sure that the power cord is the problem so it could be I am without the use of this tv even longer! Sony offers no explanation about how they can't provide a simple replacement part for a top of line new 3000.00 product and of course no accomodation at all. Longtime Sony tv purchaser but this confirms what I have heard recently that "Sony ain't what it used to be" in terms of product or service.

Bye, Sony. A lemon from the start.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought Sony TVs back to the days when a 25 inch Trinitron was a really big deal, but this is the last one I'll ever buy. It died just weeks after the time to buy an extended warranty expired; fortunately, that was a known issue and they sent out a tech to replace a board at no change. Now it won't power up again and it's cheaper just to buy a mid-line TV that will be sufficient for my family room thank to repair it.
