    Terrible Backlighting Issues

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this tv after countless hours of research. I should have listened to the customer submitted reviews and not the CNET and other reviewing sites. The backlight drive actually makes backlight issues much more noticeable. Sony is refusing to acknowledge the issue even with numerous pictures demonstrating the distracting white spots in dark scenes. I will never own a Sony TV again (I said that when I returned my last one)... Also, the 3D is awful. Almost every scene has headache inducing blurriness. I can't believe this TV is thousands of dollars. I will be replacing it with a LG OLED.

Picture is OK. Not worth the money. Frame is flimsy. Black clouding on screen. The most frustrating is the user menu. Absolutely horrible. Go with another brand

I owned this TV and in about 3 years went through 2 TV's. The first one, the screen went out after a year and they replaced it. After a 2 years on the new tv, now all I have is a half black and half white screen. I have 2 other Sharp TV's that produce as good of a picture that I have had no problems with at all. I guess Sony is happy being inferior to others.

WARNING ! Unacceptable AWFUL 3D Crosstalk

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

WARNING ! Unacceptable AWFUL 3D Crosstalk I am owner of this TV and potential buyers have to be aware they should for now not invested so much money if they're interested in watching 3D content. Keep in mind Sony has been the main company to push 3D since 2010, there are still plenty of great quality 3D Blu-ray released every month. The crosstalk (or ghosting) here is extreme on EVERY unit of X930D worldwide (I actually have the Chinese model), nothing can be set properly using the depth parameter, you can hardly fix only one element at a time (for example only menu or subtitle, or only closest objects on screen, middle range, deep, deeper etc...). I have exchanged mine 3 times already and the result if the same. I can assure everybody it is not a problem of player, cable, glasses, or source whatsoever. I am a huge 3D fan and have 60 original 3D Blu-rays, which look marvelous on my 1st generation Sony 3D TV. I know what I'm talking about. This problem has received a lot of complains for last years X850C model and after 6 months of users struggling with Sony Support, they finally admitted and fixed it via firmware update for the 65" but did not for the 55" and 75" sizes. It seems Sony doesn't want to admit this set also has a disgusting 3D rendering like they kept the firmware in Alpha version. Please those who already bought the X930D, report your experience on review sites comments and especially on Sony Community Official forum here : http://community.sony.com/t5/4K-Ultra-HD-TV/XBR-65X930D-faulty-3D/td-p/565811/highlight/false/page/2 Once the problem will be fixed I will reedit or delete this comment. This is a shame because to be honest this TV is absolutely AMAZING otherwise.

Sony does not support what they sell

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

In January 2015, I purchased a 65XBR850b at Best Buy for $3k (including tax). I should have done some more research as the tv was not ready for the market - Sony should have never released this television. The display is great, but the operating system (opera) which does not support flash player is horrible. You cannot watch anything that is not an app and there is no upgrade or workaround. Sony knowingly sold me and thousands of other people a sub-par operating system. in addition, the processor is a piece of junk. even after hardwiring the tv it still frequently kicks me out of the internet program I am watching (usually Netflix). I contacted Sony more than a few times, but their workaround is to unplug the tv and wait five minutes. give me a break. now the tv is out of warranty they are doing summersaults. I wrote to Sony and got no response. I also tried to return the TV, but since I bought it at Magnolia (how was I to know the salesman was a Magnolia salesman and not Best Buy?) Best Buy was equally complicit in this mess and I will never again purchase anything from this company. I am sure I am not the only one with this experience, stuck with a junk TV.

I refuse to accept a sub-par TV at this price poin

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Purchased only to return a week later. For the price, this TV leaves a lot to be desired from a picture standpoint. Cloudiness is on par with the $400 TV I have in the bedroom and that is simply unacceptable to me. Returning to the store was quite an experience as every employee I dealt with acted personally offended that someone would return a Sony. Luckily I took a video of the issues I was experiencing and that ended any discussion about the validity of the return. The ultimate deal breaker? The Wifi in the TV would go out and lock up when trying to search for local connections. The solution is to reboot the TV every time. Google "Sony Wi-Fi TV problems" and you'll see that Sony has had ongoing problems for years. Cheap components to save costs maybe? Yes, I could have hooked it up via the wired LAN but I refuse to accept a sub-par TV at this price point. Another annoyance is the TV navigation which sometimes paused for up to 20 seconds. I am now using my 2013 60" Sony 1080P TV which is still going strong and producing a great picture.

Tried Sony again and am sorry I did

I decided to try a Sony product again. I purchased this TV yesterday. I can not tell you how the screen looks. I did not get the screws to install the stand. I talked to Sony today and they claim the screws will be sent out in 4 business days. I will be shocked if I see the screws in 2 weeks. Sony customer service rep was hard to understand. One of his first questions was if I had gone back to or called Best Buy for the missing screws. Best Buy is not the manufacturer. Now I have to wait and hope the screws actually arrive

    BUYER BEWARE

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Had the TV for a few months and was working well. It would occasionally turn itself off and then back on. Then after 3 1/2 months it would not power on at all. Have had the Geek Squad out 2 times to diagnose and replace parts. Now waiting on more new parts and a 3rd repair trip to our home. Way too much money for such poor quality. Did not expect such problems with the Sony brand name. Will not be buying any more Sony tvs. Awaiting new part replacement next week or the decision to give me a new TV. Waiting weeks for resolution is ridiculous after spending $2,500 on this product.

Manufacturing defect. No reply from Sony.

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Don't buy a Sony TV. Warranty service is non-existent. This TV has an extended warranty through 2023 because it has a known manufacturing defect that prevents the TV from turning on after a while. I contacted Sony warranty support numerous times by email, chat, phone and letter. NEVER got any response, including at the email [email protected]. Dead TV, waste of time and waste of money. Beware.

    Unsatisfied

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We purchased this TV mid Septemeber as well as a Sony sound bar to accompany it. The picture qualitcameo silhouette needs rebooting, won't connect to Hulu or Netflix reliably and will reboot during a show without warning. The sound system doesn't connect all the way to it. The sub doesn't even function properly. We are way beyond disappointed with our $3,500 purchase. Pretty positive the issues today have guaranteed it's return to Best Buy.

    Broke within 4 months

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this TV on valentines day 2017, it was fantastic at first, but 4 months later it just stop working. One morning it wouldn't turn on, I reported it and they said it was a manufacturing cause. However the Magnolia technical support sucked when they showed up to my house to fix it the service was horrible they claim it was one piece missing but technical support kept finding additional reasons. He waited the same day to tell me the pieces didn't really arrived. We are 3 weeks in and support still has not fixed the TV due to late arrival of late pieces and some other excuses. It is ridiculous they have not been able to fix it yet!

    TV Did Not Work

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased this TV 12/11/2016. After I went through the steps of taking down my Samsung and installing this TV, it did not work. Display screen came on the TV shut off. Three Red blinks continually. What a waste of my time and $2,000.00 dollars. I intended to buy a Samsung but thought I would try a Sony. I have called the Cumming, GA location 5 times today and NO ANSWER..... Waste of Money and Time.

    Garbage -- Don't Buy Sony

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is my LAST Sony purchase. Good initially, but after 2 years and no longer under warranty, vertical lines appeared which means the screen is shot. I paid $3000 for the tv which was originally $5000. The tv is only about 8 months out of warranty, and sony was unwilling to stand behind their product, even such an expensive one. Essentially they said "Be careful throwing it in the trash."

    TV failure

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

After two months, this TV is DEAD. Sony sent a new power supply, which is not the problem. So now, they need to order parts (without even a diagnosis...go figure that one), and who knows when I will have my TV repaired. No ETA. I would recommend you do not buy this TV. I have had good luck with other Sony products, but this appears to be junk.
