Disappointing, at best!

So Best Buy brought me a replacement LG and I still had issues with it. So I decided to spend even more $$ and buy this Sony A80J. Sad to report that it's only marginally better than the LG. Although I will keep this Sony, I'm really disappointed in the sound system! In short, I will still need a sound bar even though most of the reviews complemented Sony on a great job with the speakers. Realistically the speakers only shine when you are watching a DVD movie or a pay movie. Normal, everyday television watching is not very good at all. Overall, for the $2,200 I spent, the expectations are much greater than what I received. If I could give 2.5 stars, I would have!

We only ever watched 2-3 hours of TV a day. These lines were inherent to the TV, since the lines were present across all platforms such as Netflix, Comcast Live TV, Amazon Prime etc.. We attempted troubleshooting the lines, but to no avail. All the troubleshooting points to loose cables, but these lines are not from cables since they were displaying from running apps that are built into the TV and not based on any connections. Then, after a few days of watching the TV with the lines, the TV abruptly turned off while I was watching it. A day later, the TV abruptly turned off again and wouldn't turn back on at all, and displayed a blinking red light at the bottom of the screen. For being a top-of-the line, cutting edge technology, brand new TV, this is unacceptable. We are past the Bestbuy return period and are in the process of the warranty claim with SONY which has left us without a TV for over THREE WEEKS! During this time we are still paying for our subscriptions and TV service, so this is a shame. The picture was indeed very nice when we first got it, but given the quality issues with this device after just a few months, and being out of a TV for over three weeks, this product and brand deserves less than a 1 star review. We spent over $2,000 on this item! After this experience I would probably stick with LG moving forward since the panels are the same and it's just the software/technology backbone that is different between the TVs. Considering that we wanted to "splurge" and go for the premium Sony name when we made this purchase, we are highly disappointed. Perhaps Sony has lost their luster in the TV game to other brands like LG and Samsung.
