Favorite TV of all time!

Huge Disappointment

This is suppose to be the top 3 highest rated consumer tv this year but has huge manufacturing issues with its panel. Sony buys their panels from LG and LG has made them with huge problems that show in the Sony A80J. There are banding issues, tint problems, dse, etc. I bought this for $2200 + tax and it is suppose to be a premium tv. It is not. My A80J changes color from pink to blue across the screen. It is easily visible in a lot of content and does not exhibit the excellent picture quality as advertised. I am just past my 30 day exchange period and now stuck with a defected panel as one of the Best But employees implied to me. Best Buy has been very accomodating to me on my previous two purchases so it is not their fault. It is a Sony problem as they are letting these tvs get past quality control.

I was hoping the quality of an OLED Sony would push the brightness while keeping the contrast of the blacks. If you are watching in complete darkness it delivers, particularly watching a 4K nature series, etc. However, in the daylight it feels like a standard television.

Poor quality product and poor customer service

We have had issues with the TV automatically turning off the Wi-Fi. When you do get it to work it buffers. Then if you try to change to another channel or program you will get the picture from one program and the sound from another program. These are just a few of the issues. I have tried to work with BestBuy Total Tech. They say they are trying to work with Sony since it is under warranty. However 2 months later and I still haven’t heard anything from anyone and I am still having problems.

BIG Caveat...You must love matte screens

Its the best movie watching experience out there and, arguably one of the bests gaming experiences. Only other competition is the LG C1. I've had both and you just can't go wrong with either.
