The Remote Control With This TV Is The WORST

Pluses: Delivery service by the local staff was wonderful, TV was easy to set up and get the channels programmed. Sales staff at the store was wonderful. The picture is wonderful. The sound quality is much better than previous Bravia's I've owned. Downside: I underestimated how much I would hate the simplified remote control supplied with this television. The lack of functionality and the need to have to use an on-screen menu to do something as simple as navigate to the previous viewed channel (QUADRUPLE the number of key selections than having a simple button on the remote) is INFURIATINGLY stupid design. Yet, the remote DOES have SIX buttons for streaming services I will NEVER EVER join! The entire remote control has 18 buttons, 30% of which I WILL NEVER USE. AND the remote has an additional 30% blank space at the bottom of the device for additional buttons the designers decided to not add. If returning this television were a simple task, I'd return it just because of the lousy remote control. Been a multiple Sony Television systems owner for more than 30 years and have never seen the company make a design decision this bad.

Sony offers the best contrast/build design

Sony TVs are simply the best. The contrast is unmatched and this model in particular has one of the most true colors with several settings you can tweak to adjust the picture to your liking. It has a very easy and relatively quick set-up which is nice and an easy set-up procedure. The build design is fantastic with this model offering solid metal feet. They pop right in. The only con I can see with this set is the brightness. It is an OLED so that is a given but it is fairly low. For me, my room is usually very dim-lit/dark so it works great for me. Additionally, the remote leaves a lot to be desired. No back-lit buttons and this model in particular removed numerical buttons which is just awful. It isn't the end of the world but if you use an antenna, it makes it a bit trickier.

The picture is amazingly beautiful, edge to edge. Sharp colors and true definition, right out of the box. The only negative is the remote. Its lack of numbers is especially antagonizing when viewing local channels off the antenna. It's irritating when scrolling through all of the 'sub' channels, and one must repeatedly hit the up or down arrows when tuning. For a couple of $$ more, they could have given us a better remote!

I’ve always had Sony’s but this is the best picture quality yet. Unbelievably I was able to snag an open box excellent The Geek did a phenomenal job installing it. Love Best Buy. Love Sony When it was delivered the remote was missing. Went back to the store, the young man in customer service found it in a box of remotes…even. Better

    Great TV - Terrible Remote

TV picture is awesome. Sharp detail, lots of apps included. My only complaint is that for a $2000 tv, the remote control is a joke. It’s not back lit, does not have any number keys- you have to press a menu button to access an on screen number pad that is awkward and clumsy to use. And the remote is so small and narrow . I wound up buying another Sony remote from Amazon.

Great picture color and clarity especially in streaming mode, not as sharp when using a cable box. For color and sound, audio/visual adjustments can be made to suit just about any setting desired. Not a fan of the remote control - not intuitively useful, missing features such as fast forward, switching back and forth between channels etc.

It has a good picture and sound. I am wired by a HDMI cable to a Sony home theater system. Rather often my tv remote would lose the ability to adjust the volume up or down. I would have to use the sound system remote to adjust the volume. And occasionally even that didn't work. Sometimes though, the tv remote would start working again later in the evening. I could get things working again by doing a soft reboot to the tv. After a home visit my Geek Squad agent couldn't figure out a solution. I'm getting a LG as a replacement next week. Best Buy made this return and replacement a very easy procedure.

Great tv, only reason I put 4 stars overall because the remote should have lighted buttons for when using in a darkened room, and noting that we watch in a darkened room as the only setting we found that is bright is the vivid setting. Most of what we watch are in cinema mode so need the darker room.

These tv is nice no doubt about it. But is it worth the price. Guess that depends on your budget at the end of the day it’s just a tv to me will be outdated next year if it isn’t already. I probably should have just bought a cheaper one like I had before this one also the remote control feels very cheap and the buttons are in a bad layout in my opinion. Now that I have it setup at home I don’t see any wow factor like I did on the demo screen at the store.

This is a review of the open-box offer. It said "excellent." The TV came with no box, remote, or stand. It was simply wrapped in bubble wrap. I will never trust best buy open-box. Waste of my time.
