Excellent TV, great contrast, really bright where it should, real darks where it should be dark. Google TV installed in the device was a breeze to set up. Factory settings spot on. Skin color is just perfect. I like the cinema and standard options that are soft on the eye. Upscaling for non 4K content is very good. I'm very happy with this TV.

Replaced an older 65'TV in our master bedroom with this Bravia A80L OLED 65'. The setup took a bit since we have it mounted up off the floor about 5.5'. Hooked up our Starlink high-speed cat8 ethernet cable to it and updated the software. Hooked it up to our Sony 4K dvd player and it recognized it right away. Inserted the new Equilizer 3 movie and the picture quantity is awsome!!! Funny how much technology has changed when replacing a perfectly good 7 yr. old 65" tv. Best picture quantity we have ever experienced. Thanks sony for making great OLED TVs. I also have a Sony Bravia 43" also mounted in my shop over my work bench connected to our Starlink high speed internet. Once you have a Sony OLED you can't go back!!! Excellent viewing pleasure and i forgot to mention you wount need a sound bar. The sound out of the new A80L is superb in our bedroom that's 16x20 with 10' ceiling. Guess you could add a sub for more bass that's about it. You'd need to experience the sound to understand where I'm coming from on this amazing TV. If your on the fence don't be it is worth the $$$$.

I’ve always had Sony’s but this is the best picture quality yet. Unbelievably I was able to snag an open box excellent The Geek did a phenomenal job installing it. Love Best Buy. Love Sony When it was delivered the remote was missing. Went back to the store, the young man in customer service found it in a box of remotes…even. Better

Great Value Sony 65-inch A80L OLED TV

First of all, I bought this Sony 65-inch A80L TV from Best Buy. I replaced a Sony XBR 65X950G Backlit LED because it failed. Kudos to Best Buy's Geek Squad warranty I purchased. It was a really good TV, plus I own a Hisense U8H Mini LED, which is a really great TV also. I point this out as I have good non-OLED TVs to compare it to. I almost bought the Sony X93L Mini LED as I was afraid that I would miss the great screen brightness that the Mini LEDs produce and that the A80L OLED would not get bright enough in our living room during the day. But I was tiring of the blooming around the edges and the white captioning with black outline that I use and LED TVs tendency to blow out some extreme highlights. So far, I am happy with my decision. First thing you need to do is set the inputs. Hit settings on the remote, them push the center of the joystick, then from that menu navigate to the right to set how you want the inputs that you are using to display. You have to enable enhanced format here or you will be watching everything in SDR. There are good examples of this online. It has a narrow bezel; it is not flimsy. It is a two-person job to safely put it on a mounting bracket. Manual controls are on the underside of the bottom part of the frame and are not convenient. Input ports are on the right side looking at the back of the TV. There are 4 HDMI inputs but only 2 are HDCP 2.1 and one is the eARC port. If you order it delivered, it comes in a sturdy box sitting in molded Styrofoam. My fears of lack of detail/black crush in the shadows, which was a major problem with LGs early OLEDs, were unfounded. This A80L does an excellent job of grayscale gradation in the shadows. As expected from Sony its color reproduction is spot on. If you are a golf fan the green shades of the different grasses will be spot on. No toxic greens as many LED TVs produce. No blown-out highlights. There are several picture modes, including Dolby Vision light and Dolby vision Dark, if you like going to the movies to see dull dark movies, you will be a happy camper. Dolby Vision in my opinion is a work in progress and in my opinion, this A80L, or any other OLED TV can't get bright enough to pleasingly display Dolby Vision. But, if you like a bright vibrant picture, set the picture mode to Custom, leave the auto light setting off, set the brightness to 40-50,set contrast to Max, set Black Level to 52, Black Adjust to Medium, Advanced color Enhancer to Medium, Peak Luminance to High, sharpness to 53, leave smooth gradation off for normal viewing. You may want to turn it on for some sports. Turn Cine Motion to high and leave everything else on Auto . Leave colors adjustments alone Sony has these perfect. Exception being you can choose whatever color mode/temp/kelvin you choose. I use natural. If you go to warm, whites will begin to take on an off-white tone. This is a great bang for the buck OLED TV. Sharp, perfect color and bright enough. Many older LG OLEDs would not produce perfect whites, but this A80L does. No dull whites. Would I like a little more brightness? I would, but I really can't see paying another 1000 to 1500 dollars more to get what would only be a slight improvement. Yes, you can get higher brightness with a Mini LED TV, but it comes at the expense of not getting perfect blacks and perfect separation of colors without light blooming. It is so nice not having that slight halo at the edges of the screen and the blooming around the close captioning. Sound is acceptable. If you have a newer high-end Sony soundbar, you can plug in the center channel to the TV and the center channel sound will come through the screen from the direction of the speakers position on the screen. I can't comment on it as I have another brand soundbar. I don't game on it, so no comment there. If you want to buy an OLED TV that does a great job of upscaling lower resolution content to 4K, produces just amazingly accurate colors, sharp detailed display, good shadow detail and not have buyer's remorse. I don't think you can go wrong with this Sony A80L.

I've been hunting for a new TV for my living room. I came across this one because I read the reviews from people who also play PS5. The image looks awesome and the image are always clear and stunning. I have in my room a BRAVIA XR X90L LED but you know, in my opinion my Living room tv should be the newest all the time. Price is fair for what I got. What I also like is it comes with a google app to set up and download the streaming channels and it has also a native Crunchyroll application. When you connect your PS5, it recognize it and that allows an auto calibration to ensure you get the best image. Sound its decent, of course its always better to have a sound bar for flat TVs

TV picture is awesome. Sharp detail, lots of apps included. My only complaint is that for a $2000 tv, the remote control is a joke. It’s not back lit, does not have any number keys- you have to press a menu button to access an on screen number pad that is awkward and clumsy to use. And the remote is so small and narrow . I wound up buying another Sony remote from Amazon.

The picture quality of this TV is excellent. Just amazing. I know what a good picture looks like and this TV has it. Although I have to say that it does take a lot of fiddling and experimenting with the picture settings to get what you are looking for. I have owned Samsung plasma and LED TVs, LG and Sony LED TVs and now this Sony OLED TV and this is the best one so far. The TV sound quality is also surprisingly good - I am however using it with a sound bar which takes it to another level. The one stand out feature where this TV scores over others in my opinion is that it is a Google TV. I have used the Samsung and LG interfaces and I find the Google TV interface easier to use. It also opens up the possibility of more apps being available for content you want to see. I did however struggle to understand the instructions that came in the box. Quite hard to understand and can definitely be improved. I highly recommend this TV!

I was debating between the Sony a80L, LG c3 and samsung s90c. I went to see them in person and immediately ruled put the samsung because it was significantly less detailed than the other 2 and all the colors were incredibly saturated like everything looked radioactive. The somy was a clear winner iver the lg as you can pit on a few of the same demos and compare and oh man was the sony so much sharper and more detailed but there was also so much more detail in datker areas of the screen. One of the demos i put on both was finch which is on apple tv + and i paised it a few times to walk back and forth and the LG was darker, had pess color and was not as sharp as the sony. The processor in the sony really makes an incredibly huge difference!

Great picture color and clarity especially in streaming mode, not as sharp when using a cable box. For color and sound, audio/visual adjustments can be made to suit just about any setting desired. Not a fan of the remote control - not intuitively useful, missing features such as fast forward, switching back and forth between channels etc.
