The Remote Control With This TV Is The WORST

Pluses: Delivery service by the local staff was wonderful, TV was easy to set up and get the channels programmed. Sales staff at the store was wonderful. The picture is wonderful. The sound quality is much better than previous Bravia's I've owned. Downside: I underestimated how much I would hate the simplified remote control supplied with this television. The lack of functionality and the need to have to use an on-screen menu to do something as simple as navigate to the previous viewed channel (QUADRUPLE the number of key selections than having a simple button on the remote) is INFURIATINGLY stupid design. Yet, the remote DOES have SIX buttons for streaming services I will NEVER EVER join! The entire remote control has 18 buttons, 30% of which I WILL NEVER USE. AND the remote has an additional 30% blank space at the bottom of the device for additional buttons the designers decided to not add. If returning this television were a simple task, I'd return it just because of the lousy remote control. Been a multiple Sony Television systems owner for more than 30 years and have never seen the company make a design decision this bad.

Should have stuck with my first choice

I went into the store looking for a Samsung OLED tv, but the Sony rep convinced me of the advantages of the Sony processor. When I pulled the Besy Buy rep aside to try and get a less biased opinion, he agreed that the Sony would give me better results. I’m using a new 4k AppleTV as my source. First impressions watching the new Mission Impossible and the Superbowl, it seemed good and crisp, although it was a little harsh, but i wanted to wait until it was mounted to dial it in. Now that its up, I’m doing everything I can to get the picture to feel lifelike and the sound balanced (since this is suppsoed to be a strength). No matter what I do, one scene will look good and the next looks over saturated. Not sure the sound is that great either. I would say the unit is average at best. I’m really regretting going against my gut and buying this TV. If Best Buy showed up to repace it with my original choice, I’d likely be much happier.

The picture and sound are of great quality but the TV just randomly turns off right after I turn it on sometimes and also freezes up to the point where we have to pull the TV console out and unplug it. It's a love hate relationship. I love it when it's working but hate that after spending so much money it doesn't always work. Oh yeah, and this is all after it completely stopped working after we had it for 6 months and we had to wait for almost a whole month before it was repaired.

It has a good picture and sound. I am wired by a HDMI cable to a Sony home theater system. Rather often my tv remote would lose the ability to adjust the volume up or down. I would have to use the sound system remote to adjust the volume. And occasionally even that didn't work. Sometimes though, the tv remote would start working again later in the evening. I could get things working again by doing a soft reboot to the tv. After a home visit my Geek Squad agent couldn't figure out a solution. I'm getting a LG as a replacement next week. Best Buy made this return and replacement a very easy procedure.

Great for gaming. Amazing. For everything else. Not worth the price. The menu is difficult yo maneuver. If you're coming from a Roku interface this is terrible. The menu itself is dark. I dont personally like it. The tv is in a dark room, theatre style and its not as good as our TCL mini LED. For as much as this costs its lacking. Save your money. Ill likely return it.

I wouldn't say I liked this TV, also the Sales Rep that sold it to me lied about many of the specs, I went with his recommendations only to find they were not true. Pretty disappointed. I had to return, not just due to the false information provided, but issues with the TV itself. Right from the beginning upon start up, I couldn't even make it through the setup of the TV, the menu just kept cycling through and restarting. Even a restart, and pulling the plug would not get it out of this mode. I ended up researching on line and had to figure out how to do a hard reset. That finally worked, but hours later....

These tv is nice no doubt about it. But is it worth the price. Guess that depends on your budget at the end of the day it’s just a tv to me will be outdated next year if it isn’t already. I probably should have just bought a cheaper one like I had before this one also the remote control feels very cheap and the buttons are in a bad layout in my opinion. Now that I have it setup at home I don’t see any wow factor like I did on the demo screen at the store.

The picture is good. The sound unimpressive for the extra 200 from the A75 especially when hooking to an alternative source for audio. Freaked out initially when streaming sports because during football there is a lag I hadn’t seen in any Sony tv I had in the past. I still don’t understand why such a frame shift happens on such a pricey tv. The menus on the remote are also confusing and audio sometimes switches back to using only a few of my audio inputs so I guess I have a lot to learn to get it to function correctly. Not sure I would buy again.

    Sony Television Issue

We purchased this television in January 2024, but the model is a 2023. Today, May 7, 2025, there is a dark screen horizontally about 10" from the top of the television. We were told to update the software. We did update the software, but it didn't repair the issue. We were then told that someone could come out to look at it for $275 and see if they could repair it. If not, we would lose our $275 and live with the issue or buy another $2000 plus television. We have never had problems with Sony televisions and really are now at a loss as to what to do.

If you’re watching tv during the day in a fairly lit area, then you’ll likely find the screen too dark. This tv provides better coloring and focus on an item, person, etc…in the forefront on the scene, but much of the background will be too dark. At night time in low lighting, it’s terrific.

This is a fabulous TV with a fatal flaw. It quite simply just doesn't get bright enough in dark HDR scenes. 80% of the time it looks marvelous until you get a very dark scene where you literally can see almost nothing. It's because the brightness rating on this TV is only about 750 nits which just isn't enough. I returned this to get an LG C4 (exact same price) which is got about 20% more brightness. It makes a massive difference. So this TV is an almost wonderful TV, the C4 is a wonderful TV. Also the speakers built into the TV screen, which many people have been impressed by, sounded absolutely awful to me.

    OLED is Overrated

Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.

Bought this tv basically after hearing so much about how much better the blacks and HDR contrast are with an OLED and the main difference I saw between this tv and my XBR-65X950H that it was replacing was brightness. Mainly the lack thereof on this OLED model. Going from the full LED array and being able to actually see the screen during the day with lights on in my house to whatever OLED is supposed to be was just a really expensive disappointment to be honest. The OLED model is so dim even when brightness is set to max that darker colors and blacks don’t differentiate or create detail. They just make you squint or miss them entirely. OLED may be great up close on a small screen but not on my larger, further away positioned tvs. For me this was a definite DOWNGRADE from my 950H.
