The picture washes out really bad under these circumstances. We have the TV in a 12x18 room and it looks great. As per usual, Sony is slow on updates and the software is buggy. I had to return the first one because it turned itself on and off constantly. Got a better one now that only turns on the AV receiver after I shut the system down. It does turn its self off after about a minute. The picture is really nice, but my plasma is still better then this new breed of TV's.

The recommended distance for comfortable viewing depends on the video or program you are watching, the viewing environment, and the physical conditions of the person watching it. When watching the TV from a suitable distance, we recommend to look away from the TV every now and then, or try watching it at a different viewing angle. Reference:

The picture isn't as sharp as it looked in the store, maybe it's my lighting. Still need external soundbar but adequate for now. I know the OLED is probably way better, but didn't want to spend 60% more.

Still hard to see dark scenes (apparently all content these days is shot on a dark set or studios cannot afford decent lighting) without maxing out the settings. Would buy it again or upgrade to the X95.

When viewing Dolby Vision content at home in an environment that's not the same as a dark studio, the picture may appear dark or washed out. Changing your settings while using the Dolby Vision mode may improve these symptoms.
