My good fortune with the Sony brand has recently turned sour. I had an XBR55X900F for eighteen months when the sound malfunctioned. I was glad that I had purchased a Geek Squad Protection Plan. I replaced the defective Sony with an XR55X90J. When it was delivered it would not produce sound through a new Sony HTS350 sound bar using the HDMI cable and ARC connection. Each of the next three replacements had the same problem. I was very disappointed to learn that each of them had the same factory defect. So, a total of four XR55X90J TVs delivered to my house were defective. The picture quality was excellent and it was very user friendly to operate. The sound from the TV speakers is mediocre so if you really want quality sound, a sound bar will be necessary. However, beware, your sound bar may not work with this model either using an ARC connection. A decision to leave the Sony brand was unsettling but I knew I did not want to continue at the risk of possibly experiencing the hassle of additional disappointments.

On Thanksgiving day it did an update and I was unsure of the settings I went on chat with Sony and they connected to my tv and verified the update. That totally impressed me. During my purchase at Bestbuy they were extremely helpful and gave me options which led me to this unit. I am very happy with the purchase.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.So i changed up from being loyal to samsung... im not totally disappointed but definitely not as goid as i was hoping. The biggest flaw is the darks just not matching samsung qled. The picture is much cleaner... but the blacks are almost a drak gray instead. Also the backlight halos around images pretty bad.... but ive been told that will go away. Streaming imax movies is quite impressive as well. I may wait another year and hopefully oled has the burn in issues resolved.

It upscales lower formats well to a 65" screen. I tried all the settings the " experts" said to use but I played around with it enough to find what I like. Easy to set up apps and settings

Just What I Was Looking For!

I especially like the full array LED for solid black and shadows - it makes all the other colors really pop. It also plays very nicely with my SONY surround sound tuner and blue-ray player, so connections were a breeze. The resolution and overall performance are outstanding too. Given that I got it on sale was icing on the cake!
