    WORST Sony Ever, SO DISAPPOINTED

Always wanted a Sony Bravia, well this one’s not it - or any of them. In fact, any Sony with Google TV and all the horrible apps would not cut it. (YES IT’S ALL CONFIGURED CORRECTLY as per SONY AND HAS CURRENT, UPDATED SOFTWARE) —1-- CONTANTLY REBOOTS: Over and over the system reboots, have no idea why … SCOURED SONY SUPPORT = NOTHING. —2-- TOTAL GREEN SCREEN: Will switch randomly to a totally green screen when changing from one episode or movie to another, random actions, or switching ports. So bad, even switching to any other source or even my antenna the toally green screen screen will not go away, but the audio continues. SCOURED SONY SUPPORT = MUST UNPLUG TV CONSTANTLY. —3-- NO PICTURE ZOOM: No resizing of picture out of letterbox under any circumstances. The only way to zoom is to switch your player (Roku stick, Fire, Ultra) to 1080p. SCOURED SONY SUPPORT = GET OVER IT, NOT SUPPORTED. So your 65” screen = 20” tall video, unreal. —4— FAILS TO RECOGNIZE AV UNIT(s): Even though most times it works, will not turn on AV unit (tried my late model Yamaha, Marantz, Onkyo, even Sony). It’s not found & switchs to internal speakers. It wont work ever if an external (Say Roku Ultra) is turned on first. Yes, the systems are set up through the “setup” part of the system. it’s totally random. SCOURED SONY SUPPORT = NO ANSWER. —5— POOR VIEWING ANGLE: I sort of understood this factor, but didn’t know it was sooo poor. Unless you are dead on straight in front of the screen, the picture degrades quickly. —6— NEVER THOUGHT A BRAVIA WAS SO MUCH DAILY TROUBLE!!!! Turn on, restart often, turns off/on AV unit several times, switches speakers, screen goes green …. I’d return it if I could. WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND. Just so disappointing from Sony.

This is my 2nd Sony. My first is a 55" Android tv, that's about 5 years old. My 14 year old Samsung plasma finally died and originally, I planned to replace it with another Samsung; however, I'm not confident in the longevity or stability of their Tizen platform for smart tv. In addition, there are numerous reviews of people's tvs tipping over, because there is one support stand, placed in the middle of the tv, which is not strong enough to bare the tv's weight. So to Sony I went. Thank goodness I kept the box, because on exactly Day 14 of the 15 day return window, the picture failed. The screen has a big black bar in the middle, with the picture duplicated on each side of the bar. I was unable to complete an exchange with delivery online, as the only option was to lug this huge box and tv to the store. Fortunately, their call center was able to assist and process and exchange and pickup with delivery. I'm highly disappointed to see the quality is so poor that the unit fails within less than a month. Do better Sony.

      Hello Eric,
Thank you for your purchase and we're sorry to hear that the included wall mount screws/bolts are too short. We highly recommend the Sony SU-WL855 bracket and M6 screws. You can also use a Vesa compliant wall mount with hole pitch pattern of 11 13/16 x 11 13/16 (inch).

Yes this, Sony Bravia 65" XR-X90L is Every bit as good as the expert reviews say and by the ones that have Professionally tested this Heavyweight midrange 4K TV but not heavy in price. I won't get into no more than what has already been stated in the comments that other owners who have already stated. This wasn't a compromised purchase for me, I was originally going to purchase the Sony 65" A80L or their 65" X93L. After 3 + months of diligent research comparing all the tradeoffs between the three models I came to the conclusion, anything more is just diminishing returns. I used, (Gene DellaSala's) article (Audioholics) of Professional recommended settings to dial in my Sony Bravia XR-X90L. Yes I do recommend this Sony model it punches above its class. BestBuy's service made my Purchase even easier with their holiday sales they're running.

Great TV, even for an open box. I was looking for one of the top-tier TVs from Sony from 2025, but then I saw this 2023 Bravia XR Full Array only, not the Mini LED I was looking for. I took it home and put it side by side with the Bravia 5 that we had earlier, and believe it or not, this 2023 older model works the same or better than the new model. The contrast is exceptional, not as bright as the Bravia 5, but it does not need to be because the colors are just that good. The Bravia 5 is a little bit brighter because of the mini LED, but the 2023 model has nothing to envy the new model. When Sony made the XR full array, they made that good, and I guess that is the reason the 2023 model is still in the 2025 lineup (it is good). The picture quality is great for both TVs, especially when sitting in front of the TV, but the viewing angle from the sides is better for the 2023 XR. On the Bravia 5, the picture quality from the sides is not good, maybe because it has more dimming zones, so the change in picture quality is more noticeable. The Bravia 5 should be the best choice because it is a newer model, but after looking at both TVs side by side, I think I'll try to find another 2023 model if available, since they are cheaper than the 2025 model and work pretty much the same. Don't take me wrong, if you get the Bravia 5, it's fine, but if you still can get a hold of one of the 2023 models, you should give it a try, and at a lower price.

Thank you for sharing this incredibly detailed and insightful review, EduardoA!
We are absolutely thrilled to hear how delighted you are with the picture quality and performance of your BRAVIA XR65X90L, even as an open-box purchase.

Your side-by-side comparison with the newer BRAVIA 5 model is valuable feedback. It's rewarding to know that the exceptional contrast and color fidelity of the Full Array LED technology in the X90L is resonating with you, confirming that sometimes the quality of the processing and local dimming is just as important as the panel technology itself.

We appreciate your nuanced observations on the viewing angles. We are committed to engineering superior visual experiences across our entire product line, and we are constantly evaluating customer feedback, like yours, to improve performance in every generation.

Thank you again for your strong recommendation for the 2023 model and for making Sony your choice for premium home entertainment!

In my opinion, this is an excellent TV. The picture is superb, and the sound is amazing. I am 65 years old. It was quite heavy to mount to a wall bracket by myself, so I would suggest finding a second person to help. The setup was very easy, and the remote works nicely. It should be noted that the remote does not light up. Brightness seems to be fine.

9/10 tv. Great brightness and picture but my only minor complaint is the halo you get when theres white letters or images against a black background. Coming from an older tv though this was breathtaking to say the least. The airplay works really great and the apps all work flawlessly. If you can look past that minor issue then this is for you.

We're thrilled to hear that you find your XR-65X90L TV to be a 9/10 and that the overall brightness and picture are so breathtaking compared to your older TV! Delivering that level of impact and realism is exactly what the Full Array LED display and Cognitive Processor XR™ are designed to do.

We're also glad to hear that features like AirPlay and the built-in apps are working great and flawlessly for you, making your viewing experience smooth and seamless.

We do appreciate you sharing your minor complaint about the halo effect sometimes seen with bright elements against a black background. This can occur with LED backlighting technology, and we continually work to minimize it. Thank you for including this honest detail for future buyers.

Our 5 year old Sony was sometimes struggling on its own (no Apple or Google TV dongle) with 4k streaming. Since I don’t like extra remotes for dongles, I decided to update to a newer model instead. Since most of my smart devices are associated with Google, I limited my search to that OS and went with another Sony. Since it was the same brand and size, the physical replacement went quite well. Once in place, I realized how much better the picture was. The full array backlighting really is noticeable - with much blacker blacks. This is a great TV that I would highly recommend.

    Amazing Upgrade

I managed to snag this beauty as on open box item for a very significant $400 discount; no damage whatsoever and runs like its brand new out of the box. The picture quality despite it being a full-array LED is stunning, and a night and day upgrade from a non-HDR Vizio LCD that was almost 10 years old. This TV is located in a moderately sunny location, so there is ample ambient and natural light, and this thing gets plenty bright without even having to max out the brightness. Which really aides in minimizing light reflection. Once I had it calibrated to my liking from a variety of tech sites, I went right into testing all sorts of content to put it through its paces. Dolby Vision and HDR 4K content look absolutely stunning. I haven't encountered much of anything that this TV struggles to make look amazing; including video games. While this may not be the best TV money can buy, it is the best all around picture quality you can purchase at this price point compared to Hisense U8K or TCL QM8. Much of this due to Sony's image processing engine, which stands second to none. I can't speak to the sound quality as I use a soundbar. The Google OS is suitable and responsive, but I use an Apple TV 4K steaming box which in my opinion compliments the TV's picture quality even more. The only regret I have is that I didn't get a 75" size, but for the discount I got on this open-box item, I can't complain.

Love this TV - the clarity and brightness is spot on. We initially bought the 65 inch mini LED'S and the screen with scenes with a lot of light was blinding and had to be toned down. The contrast was too dark for our liking and white was too bright. But you cannot go wrong with the full array LED. Second one we've owned. Again, tried the more expensive Bravia XR mini led's but needed sunglasses to watch in dark room due to brightness of some scenes.

Came from a Vizio M55-E0 and was surprised with the brightness and clarity of this tv. It’s a solid performer for a midrange tv from Sony. There is some blooming and vertical banding but I don’t think it’s a deal breaker or that bad at all. It’s a balancing act for tv manufacturers. If they try to cut down on the blooming then you get black crush and loss of detail. If you prioritize detail you get blooming. The tv looks great on my stand and I really like the low profile look of the feet. The tv has a premium look as well. I cannot comment on how helpful Best Buy staff was to my purchase since I already knew what I wanted when I walked in. I have been researching tvs for the better part of a year. We had a bargain television from another company that started having issues after only two years of ownership. After some research, I checked out the Sony Bravia XR X90L. The difference between the Sony and the former brand TV is night and day. The X90L's picture quality is much brighter with more definition, more color and more accuracy overall. We used Goggle TV on the previous TV and it works the same on the Sony. Very easy to access apps. In fact, the apps are much faster to boot up now. Both movies on Ultra 4K discs and streaming look excellent on the Sony. What came across right away, to my eyes, was how much more depth there was to the picture. Actors and local newscasters on the X90L appear more dimensional and lifelike. Another surprise I discovered was the difference in sound quality in my home theater/stereo system. My preamplifier works like a 5.1 channel preamp. I use the optical output from the preamp to the Sony's optical input for surround and stereo sound. The X90L audio passthrough is a lot cleaner than the previous TV's optical jack. I don't use the Sony's speakers for sound, in other words. The X90L is an excellent television.

I picked up the Sony 65" BRAVIA XR X90L and I’m honestly blown away. Setup was so quick and painless that I had it up and running before the popcorn was done. It connected seamlessly with my Klipsch speakers and Denon receiver, so now my living room doubles as a mini theater. The picture quality is stunning. Sports feel like I’m right in the stadium, movies pull me straight into the story, and gaming is smooth and crystal clear. The size makes everything immersive, but the clarity really steals the show. Navigation is simple and intuitive. Whether I’m streaming the latest series or flipping over to my digital antenna for live TV, everything works flawlessly. It’s easy to use, easy to enjoy, and hard to turn off. This TV makes every night feel like an event. The Sony BRAVIA XR X90L LED 4K UHD Smart Google TV offers an immersive viewing experience. The 65" screen delivers stunning clarity, vibrant colors, and deep blacks, enhancing every movie night or gaming session. What sets this TV apart is its intuitive interface powered by Google TV. Navigating through apps, streaming services, and settings is seamless, thanks to the user-friendly design and voice command capabilities. The XR Cognitive Processor ensures smooth performance, reducing motion blur and enhancing picture quality. Plus, with HDMI 2.1 compatibility, gamers can enjoy responsive gameplay and high frame rates. One drawback is the lack of local dimming zones compared to higher-end models, resulting in slightly less precise contrast control in dark scenes. However, this is a minor flaw considering the overall exceptional picture quality. In conclusion, the Sony X90L is a top-tier choice for anyone seeking a premium 4K Smart TV experience. Its combination of stunning visuals, user-friendly interface, and advanced processing technology make it a standout option in the market.

after a month of contemplating watching TV reviews on YouTube" along with countless visits to the stores to figure out which TV we finally wanted at the best price available, I'm beyond thrilled that we chose the Sony X90L Bravia TV 65 Inch, not only did it end up showing so much better at our home which is in itself something I was concerned about , but should be no surprise since we had a Sony before and it was our favorite TV and showed just perfect and just right " gorgeous colors as always, sharp, impressive, and why would I look anywhere else ""

Title: Cinema at Home, Nailed I’m genuinely impressed with my Sony Bravia TV. From the moment I set it up, it felt like a premium product. The sleek, modern design looks elegant and blends perfectly into my living room without screaming for attention. The picture quality is outstanding—crisp, vibrant, and incredibly detailed. Colors look natural, blacks are deep, and everything from movies to sports feels immersive. The sound quality is just as impressive. It’s rich, clear, and powerful enough that I often don’t feel the need for external speakers. Watching movies honestly feels like being in a theatre. Overall, this TV delivers exactly what it promises: style, performance, and an immersive viewing experience. I’m extremely satisfied with this purchase and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a true home-theatre feel without the hassle.
