Too much technology

Every time I turn the TV on and I can't figure out how to get it off.

We are sorry to hear that your BRAVIA XR8B is turning on at full volume; that is certainly not the "AI-controlled" experience we want for you. To fix this and set a specific startup volume, please press the Quick Settings button on your remote and navigate to Settings > System > Accessibility > Power-on volume. Once you Enable this feature, you can set your exact preferred volume level so the TV never surprises you at full blast again.
Additionally, if the volume feels inconsistent between different apps or inputs, you can go to Settings > Display & Sound > Sound > Advanced auto volume and turn it On to keep levels consistent across all sources. We hope this resolves the discomfort and lets you get back to enjoying that stunning OLED picture. Thanks for choosing Sony.

Complicated Without Reason.

My complaint with tv is that there are dozens and dozens of options and settings that have to be made before you can watch tv. I was making calls to my cable company for help and then to Sony for help. It was like programming a computer. Sony has lost sight of what a tv is for. For instance, when we turn the tv on, the screen shows you a "home page" where you have a dozen or so choices of other places to go to. Nonsense! How about turn on the tv and get a tv channel? We had to find the option for that. That should be the default.

We sincerely apologize for the initial frustration you experienced with the setup process and the number of options and settings. We understand that making the TV functional shouldn't feel like "programming a computer," and we regret that you had to contact both your cable company and our support team for help.
We appreciate your specific suggestion regarding the "Home" screen default. Your point that turning on the TV should lead directly to a TV channel is a valid one, and we understand why you feel that should be the default setting. We designed the current smart interface (Google TV) to offer a centralized hub for all streaming apps and inputs, but we recognize that for many customers, the traditional TV input is the priority.
We will certainly pass your detailed feedback to our product design teams. Thank you for bringing this crucial usability concern to our attention.
