The TV is fantastic and the broadcasts/streams in 4K are incredible to watch. The only thing to adjust to is how bright and vibrant the picture is.

I did a lot of research on this TV. I was torn between the 900E, 930E and a OLED. After really digging into reviews, talking to experts and watching them side by side I decided on the 55" 930E. My only disappointment was in the size. I ended up returning the 55" for a 65". The picture is amazing. I paired it up with a Sony Soundbar and I am thrilled at the results. If your on the fence, take the jump.

So, if you’ve read professional reviews about this tv, you know that this tv has great specs. Rather than write about what makes this tv good, I’ll just tell you where it falls behind. First off, the biggest gripe I have is that the uniformity of brightness on the top and bottom of the screen is pretty bad. It looks like the screen has some harsh vignetting, something that my 3 other (much cheaper) TVs don’t really show. This vignetting is very obvious and I think Sony needs to release a firmware update that gives a setting to artificially correct for this lighting/vignetting problem. This is, by far,the biggest issue with this TV and it is so noticeable that it is a borderline deal breaker. I see this lack of uniformity IN EVERY SCENE and it is quite distracting. Another thing is this TV is unnecessarily heavy. There is no reason for a consumer tv like this to weigh nearly 100 lbs. The TV encounters some serious lagging when trying to adjust the picture while watching tv. Sony, you need to optimize your settings menu performance big time. This is pretty bad and if you have any pride in your product, this wouldn’t be happening. One more thing is Sony’s contrast setting is completely missing. They have a setting labeled “contrast” but it pretty much just changed the peak brightness. It doesn’t reduce the extremes of mid tones at all. Not having. True contrast setting is pretty terrible.

4K and HD look great. Black colors are deep and distinguished. Colors pop in 4K and HD. Still waiting for the Dolby Vision update to come out to see how that does.

I stalked this TV for months, waiting for the right timing. I got it at a good discount, so jumped on it right before the Super Bowl. Having watched the TV for about 3 months now, I am so happy that I made the jump. Excellent picture quality from Cable, Blu-Ray, and AppleTV (non-4K). AndroidTV apps also provide excellent quality. Only downside is that the TV is sometimes a bit slow to respond when using the AndroidTV features, but generally not so much as to be more than just annoying. Off-axis viewing is excellent, no distortion or negative effects. Sound quality from the built-in speakers is not great, but if you're spending this much money on a TV, you either already know that, or have plans to implement an alternative solution.

I had a 60" Sony SXRD that had a color engine problem. Love Sony so replaced it with the 65" Sony 930e. Picture is incredible. As good as the higher model the X9D and $2000 less. I couldn't be happier with my decision.

We really love this smart tv! The picture quality is outstanding, controls are easy to use (or, as my son says, intuitive!!). It syncs nicely with our Apple TV. It’s the perfect tv for us.

There is nothing negative I can say about this tv except that it is making it harder to get stuff done around the house because all I want to do is watch tv now. We hung it on the wall. It is somewhat heavy at first but we took it down a few times to get everything settled (hid wires behind walls, etc) so it got easier each time. I had tried to cheap out and get a $900 dollar tv from a big box store and I kept it for a week before it went back and I bought this tv. The pictures simply do not compare. I am VERY happy with my purchase!! The picture is so crisp and clear it is amazing.

Vertical Bars Killing Otherwise Good TV

Pulled the trigger on this set over the LG 65" OLED after deliberations and a nice price drop before Christmas. My living room is bright and that became one of the deciding factors on the XBR65X930E over the LG OLED. I also HAD faith in Sony Quality Control. This TV is fairly heavy and we installed on our wall mount. I was surprised how small the screws are for the wall mount compared to my older Samsung but regardless everything went well. I was loving the TV until I was watching a hockey game and noticed dark vertical bars on the screen. As the camera panned and the action moved the bars stayed in place. I was hoping it was a camera issue but saw the same thing watching a soccer match and a football game. The blank screen on HDMI 2 where my son's Xbox is attached shows the same thing. Now I notice it on almost everything I watch, especially sports and it totally ruins the experience. Not sure if I'll just return it or try again and exchange it but either way it's a lot of hassle for a big ticket purchase that I shouldn't have to deal with. I have read that panels can be stressed during manufacturing/assembly which may cause this and varies from set to set. If that's the case I cannot believe Sony QC is that lax and not improving manufacturing processes nor doing a better QC check before shipping. This is a real drag. I bought another set at the same time for my mother and now have to go and check hers. If you're going to buy I would suggest testing this at store before lugging it home and setting it up.

We've really been enjoying this TV - we were deciding between a projector system or this, and I'm happy with our choice. We have it mounted above our fireplace, with a sony sound bar mounted to the bottom of the TV (totally recommend, great sound quality). The picture is very clear and colors are sharp. Only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is because there have been issues a few times with the TV's connection to our wifi - it seems to be a problem with the TV because our phones/laptops connect to the wifi just fine at the same time.
