fantastic Edge Lit TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV and get dark and Bright with the best of them..... and I definitely mean dark and BRIGHT! contrast pops considerably! color is fantastic and HDR on this set truly shines! only gripe is that the way it handles motion handling and movement is sllliiightly not as good as the cheaper x900e (which I don't quite understand due to this TV having a stronger processor). but other than that this TV is definitely fantastic. and it will also get the Dolby vision update in the future for even stronger contrast than the HDR10 standard. just be mindful, this TV is heavy in comparison. would definitely recommend

5yrs old and still perfect
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Obviously a very late review...this set is 5 yrs old now. But, Man, has it aged well. This is by far one of the brightest TV's I've ever seen. It gets so bright in Dolby Vision movies that I have to look away for a second. The picture quality is still fantastic 5 years later. Most of the TV's being released, including the 950J have nothing on this when compared side by side. Yes, the processor is not the fastest and yes, android is slow AF. That does not bother me though. As long as I can enjoy watching DV movies on VUDU, I am a 100% satisfied. I really wish Sony made another similar set in 85" or more. I would gladly buy one.

Excellent TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Sony is an amazing TV. I actually bought two through Black Friday (a 55 inch to wall mount in a very light room and a 65 inch for a family room) sales. The 55 inch hangs in a room where previously I had a plasma that couldn't handle the light from the room and we could only watch in the dark which wasn't that convenient. This TV does not reflect the light and shows a vivid picture. Originally, I agonized over the 65 inch whether to go LG OLED or Sony 930 for the family room. All the reviews said that the Sony was bad off axis viewing and it was really heavy. I looked in the store and watching from a side angle did not seem to degrade the colors in any way I could see. I've been to sports bars and have seen how bad some LED TVs look when you are looking at the them from an angle. So I went with the LG OLED and noticed that the Sony handled regular HD programming so amazingly well. My wife looked at both TVs and asked why the LG OLED was so dull compared to the Sony we had on the wall. Don't get me wrong, the LG OLED was amazing in lots of ways and was brilliant for 4k watching, sports and animation but it was somewhat dull for regular HD watching whereas the Sony really popped. So I swapped out the 65 inch to the Sony 930E and have not looked back.

Good TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I heard Disney signed on for 4k Ultra HD and Dolby Vision. Cuz of Star Wars, I had to upgrade. The OLED look too dark for me. the X930E, X940, X900F are a fair balance in light. The television looks amazing for content that was shot in 2k or higher. Both Streaming (netflix, amazon) and 4k Ultra HD. Like Dunkirk. I notice the 65mm IMAX stuff looks great. Even the Batman Nolan films, but when they switch back to 35mm, not so great. So I think the older film need rescanning. Terminator 2 looks so clean and amazing. One of the best remasters. Check your movies and tv show for source the content was filmed on IMDB.com, then look under Tech specs. Movies re-scanned and mastered in 4k look amazing. Everything else looks okay. Not much of step up from 1080p. In the future as more content is shot in 4k or higher, or scanned and mastered in 4k or higher, we will get more value out of this television. For now you have to do your homework research and read reviews on the movie purchases. Now the best bet are nature shows like Planet Earth II and Blue Planet II shot in the Red Dragon Cam (5K). You'll see the full quality of this TV. As terms of the Dolby Vision upgrade. I have the latest software update, but I don't see Dolby Vision pop up as on option under HDR. just HDR 10 and the other. However, when I watch on my Apple 4k Dolby Vision appears as an option, even with I check the content info display for playback. But there's nothing in the Apple TV or TV settings that says it's reading Dolby Vision, like other people who have the X930e. I have to call Sony. I think there may be a bug. Here's my gear: Sony X930e TV, Sony STRN-1080 (Dolby Atmos) Receiver, XBox One S, Apple TV 4K, Polk Audio. 7.1 speakers.

Huge Improvement over last year's model
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just received the 930E today and have spent about 7 hours with this thing. I originally went with last year's model (930D) but it had bad vertical banding issues. I spent about 30 days with the 930D so here are my first impressions of the 930E vs the 930D: First off, the improvements brought to the table by the 930E are not subtle. The screen uniformity is perfect. And no vertical banding whatsoever. I was a bit underwhelmed with the blacks of the 940D but here they're much improved. And so far I've seen little or no clouding/haloing in dark scenes with light objects. If anything there may be a tiny bit of light bleed into the black bars on the top & bottom when watching a wide screen movie, but it's minimal and really only noticeable from an angle. The thing that jumped out the most were the colors though. Unbelievable colors. I haven't watched any true HDR material yet but with SDR stuff it's shocking how amazing the colors are. It seems a bit warmer in color temperature than the 930D but this thing is some serious eye candy. There's more detail to the picture too. The other thing I'll mention is the frame. This is a heavier tv I think because it's a sturdier metal frame. Last year's model had issues with bent panels. No worries with that here. It's a bit thicker too, which I like. It just feels sturdier. The stand is very cool too. I hope I don't sound too much like a Sony homer but they crushed it with this tv!

Stay away from Sony 4k tv’s. Buy any other brand
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.4K Tv stopped working after 1 month. Sony’s customer service was awful. They made me jump through all sorts of hoops to finally agree to replace it. When technician opened up the panel he showed that several are the components are not manufactured by Sony.

GREAT TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to go through a Sony X900E and a Samsung MU9000 before this Sony X930E. The first one was good but the sound was off sync with my Sonos surround sound. The Samsung was cool but the picture wasn't that great.. This TV is awesome. I mainly watch cable and the up scaling on the Sony X930E is awesome. Of course this TV is an Edge lit TV but honestly I bought some ambient lighting and I cant tell because I'm not seeing clouding on letterbox movies. This is by far the best TV I have ever owned. I decided to stay away from OLED because of the burn in and brightness issues. Android does suck but the picture quality is so good I will live with it.
