This is because the Power on behavior settings is set to Home screen. You can change the TV startup behavior to Last input if you prefer your TV to power on with the last watched TV channel or external input instead.
Press the (Quick Settings) button on the remote control, then select [Settings] — select [System] — select [Power & Energy] — select [Power on behavior], and then select [Last input].
The next time the TV is turned on, the TV broadcast channel or external input such as HDMI that you were watching before turning off the TV will be displayed.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a hard time recommending this TV. The picture is great - the only redeeming quality. The main problem with this TV is that it loses WIFI five to six times a week and the only way to restore the WIFI connection is to do a hard restart or unplug it from the power at the wall. Also, I use Fubo for my TV services and when the TV loses WIFI, I have to go through the arduous process of re-signing into Fubo. Very frustrating! Also, the TV just turns on by itself at strange times, even in the middle of the night. Gladly, I am using an older surround sound receiver without ARC so I don't get a blast of sound while I am asleep. I think my only fix for the WIFI problem is to avoid the Google Smart TV functions and go back to a Roku or Amazon Fire Stick. I have three other Firesticks in the house with no problems. Certainly a Band-Aid fix at best. The remote is functional but very old style, large and clunky. Certainly not as modern as the Samsung or the LG. I went to the store to buy the Samsung - I regret that I didn't come out of the store with my first choice.

Wonderful tv, terrible agreement

My roommate and I purchased one back in January and it’s quality is amazing. The MAJOR drawback comes from the software. In order to use this TV to its full potential, you MUST sign into google with a google account. When you do this, google downloads ALL of their own apps and slows down the tv. The home layout changes to google layout with all of their stuff first.

With basic TV, you will be able to use your BRAVIA as basic TV with some pre-installed apps, and basic TV certain services. With Google TV, you will need to sign in using a Google account to fully enjoy all of the Google services your TV offers. To make sure your TV runs smoothly, please ensure that it has the latest firmware by performing a software update: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/articles/00119543. These updates improve the general performance of the TV and resolve any possible software-related issues. You also have the option to move certain apps to a USB device to increase the memory space available on your BRAVIA TV.

Have tried all the fix it suggestions other buyers mention but nothing worked. Now have to decide if should have Burnsville Best Buy come out and tell me how much to fix and replace whatever wrong. I have had great Sony tv’x in past, this one, ouch

Worst smart tv I’ve ever had

If you’re in the market for a new tv go with literally anything else. I’ve never had a smart tv that had so many limitations with app availability and in app functions. Can’t make purchases on any app other than google play. Want to use your Amazon prime video account to rent or buy a movie? Sorry, that feature isn’t available on this tv. Want to download Roku for a cheap cable alternative? Sorry, but that app isn’t available on this tv. Apps also crash or freeze constantly and I’m almost always having to reboot it. I hate this thing.
